Come on, we can find a common power range :sly:

A bit unfair to have this poll in the lotus thread :P wonder if sumo has been here and cast his vote.. he should..

I voted for Japanese Classics.
I want find and race the most boring, ugly, sleeper car I can find in the UCD.

5-5. :scared:

Actually I quite like the idea of a multi-car championship that I'll definitely be able to attend.

:I'd like to participate in a second season of this series, but I've realized the current time-slot is not so good for me. Good job on running this series DaxCobra. 👍

No tuning would be a great change. Slower speeds and less variables (tuning skills) would probably make the racing closer, and it's mostly better for guys like me: I'm terrible in setting up cars, so I always like spending less time ruining my gearbox and suspension.

That's a shame, we've had some great racing this series and you've been the competitor who I've been closest to, speed wise, most of the season (you've been off pace in the last 2 rounds but I'll put that down to not practicing as much/ setup. :))

You could always put down as a reserve? Or can you definitely not make any races?

Yeah, in the last three races I haven't put down more than a handful of laps for practice each time. I got away with it at Tsukuba but the last two races really exposed me. At Suzuka, the pre-race practice and quali was all wet(ish) too, so my first dry laps were in the race itself. Had no idea where the limit of the car was in the dry so I was afraid to push in case I binned it. Did a conservative 2'14.0 near the end with much room for improvement, but it was far too little too late. I'm going to try to find time for Daytona this week. It would be great to finish with a strong race.

The races are 9 am here, Saturday morning. I can make most of the races, it's just that it's tough for me at that hour, especially if I go out the night before. I'm not a morning person and I need sleep to function. It's been harder than I anticipated when I signed up.

Hmm.. Yeah I suppose at 9am you're still half asleep.

At Suzuka I had barely had any practice in the dry either, but once I got settled down I could run consistent 1'13s and even dipped a 1'12.7 although Carracer was running consistent 1'12s with a 1'11 fastest. :scared:

For Daytona as far as I know the fastest time is 1'58.8xx by me (:D) and 1'58.9xx by Carracer, but consistent 1'59s will be race pace I imagine. 👍

Hah it's so sick that you didn't win over me in that race.. my fastest was a 2:13.9 But most laps were 1:15s :P Carbon was much faster as well but couldn't pass because the turns didn't really allow for passing where he was fast ^^ On the last lap he managed to pass on the straight though :(

It's because I clipped the grass and spun on lap 4 or something while I was 2nd and then had to wait for the track to clear before I could get going again. I must have lost about 10 seconds at least.

:) that's when i passed you so i knew that.. luckily carbon pushed me to drive much much faster then i had ever before.. at least with that set up.. for some reason i changed to standard set up just before quali.. i think it was because i was expecting rain, don't know if standard was faster in rain though but the other set up was definitely faster in dry :P

I was quite pleased with 5th really considering I was so far back after my spin. But I'm peeved that I ran wide on the last lap into the sand as I would probably have been right on the back of Carbonox by Spoon and might have been able to challenge for 3rd :)- I might even have been able to put pressure on Carb so he wouldn't have been able to get you. :boggled:

So what do we do if both get the same number of votes? Decide a random person by lottery, whose vote then decides which series we get? :sly::sly:

I'm ok with another lotus season, at least with the new non tuning rule ^^ Still want the classics most though..

I think my Lotus season is over as I doubt I can make it Saturday, thanks for the good racing folks 👍

There is a possibility that i'm the only one interested in this but i had to do it anyway ^^

Super Mega Speed Test Extraordinaire Japanese Classic Street Racing-style

In other words.. I compared all the cars used in season 2 of the JCSR in the new speed test feature. :) A little note before i begin, the Sileighty and the 3000GT '98 are the cars i used in the series and therefore they are more worn in than the others.

Code:
0-400m
1. Mazda RX-7 GT-X (FC) '90 15.351
2. Nissan Skyline GTS-t Type M (R32) '89	15.372
3. Nissan Silvia K's (S13) '91 15.444
4. Mitsubishi 3000GT SR (J) '98 15.451
5. Toyota Supra SZ-R '97 15.457
6. Nissan 240SX '96 15.491
7. Nissan SILEIGHTY '98 15.494
8. Mitsubishi 3000GT SL (J) '95 15.583
9. Mitsubishi FTO GPX '99 15.896
10.MINI COOPER S '11 15.901

Surprisingly the Mazda rises to the top in the first test closely followed by the skyline and silvia.. would have thought the faststarting 3000GT would have made it first but 400 m is apparently far enough to catch up.

In all these acceleration tests it should be noted that the nissans and the mazda loved to spin their wheels off the line so they are probably the hardest to achieve the fast acceleration in.. and probably also the easiest to spin in a race ^^

And yeah the Mini made it in as a reference because i felt like it :P

Code:
0-1000m
1. Nissan SILEIGHTY '98 27.418
2. Nissan Skyline GTS-t Type M (R32) '89	27.470
3. Nissan Silvia K's (S13) '91 27.499
4. Nissan 240SX '96 27.516
5. Mazda RX-7 GT-X (FC) '90 27.552
6. Toyota Supra SZ-R '97 27.561
7. Mitsubishi 3000GT SR (J) '98 27.921
8. Mitsubishi FTO GPX '99 28.018
9. Mitsubishi 3000GT SL (J) '95 28.138
10.MINI COOPER S '11 28.754

Coming up to 1000m it's still pretty close but it's clear that Nissan likes to be fast in the second phase of acceleration. The Mitsus are dragging behind and shows their weakness here.
Code:
0-100km/h
1. Nissan Silvia K's (S13) '91 7.338
2. Mitsubishi 3000GT SR (J) '98 7.353
3. Mazda RX-7 GT-X (FC) '90 7.381
4. Nissan Skyline GTS-t Type M (R32) '89	7.404
5. Mitsubishi 3000GT SL (J) '95 7.517
6. Nissan 240SX '96 7.543
7. Nissan SILEIGHTY '98 7.583
8. Toyota Supra SZ-R '97 7.593
9. Mitsubishi FTO GPX '99 7.942
10.MINI COOPER S '11 8.060
The all important 0-100 test.. Had no idea the silvia would be so fast off the line even beating the 4wd 3000GT, the mazda once again showing it's one fast accelerating car but haven't really caught the fast starters yet.

FF seems like a really bad choice to get off the line fast as the FTO comes in far behind the others only just making it ahead of the Mini.

Code:
0-200km/h
1. Nissan SILEIGHTY '98 26.954
2. Nissan Silvia K's (S13) '91
3. Mitsubishi 3000GT SR (J) '98
4. Mazda RX-7 GT-X (FC) '90
5. Nissan Skyline GTS-t Type M (R32) '89
6. Mitsubishi 3000GT SL (J) '95
7. Nissan 240SX '96
8. Toyota Supra SZ-R '97
9. Mitsubishi FTO GPX '99
10.MINI COOPER S '11

Omly car to make it to 200 in 1000 m was the sileighty who really just keeps accelerating when the others start to fall off.

Code:
						Max. Speed
1. Nissan SILEIGHTY '98 256,3
2. Nissan 240SX '96 256,2
3. Nissan Silvia K's (S13) '91 254,1
4. Toyota Supra SZ-R '97 253,1
5. Mitsubishi 3000GT SR (J) '98 250,3
6. Mazda RX-7 GT-X (FC) '90 249,4
7. Mitsubishi 3000GT SL (J) '95 249,4
8. Mitsubishi FTO GPX '99 249,4
9. Nissan Skyline GTS-t Type M (R32) '89	241,1
10.MINI COOPER S '11 209,3

The three very similar nissans win this race although the sileighty actually was the only car to make it to it's real top speed, the others can go faster in slipstream as we saw at ssr7.
Code:
Max. G-Force
1. Mitsubishi 3000GT SR (J) '98 0,78
2. Mitsubishi 3000GT SL (J) '95 0,76
3. Toyota Supra SZ-R '97 0,55
4. Mazda RX-7 GT-X (FC) '90 0,54
5. Nissan SILEIGHTY '98 0,52
6. Nissan Skyline GTS-t Type M (R32) '89	0,52
7. Nissan 240SX '96 0,50
8. Nissan Silvia K's (S13) '91 0,50
9. MINI COOPER S '11 0,47
10.Mitsubishi FTO GPX '99 0,46

Final measure is the cryptic G-Force thingy, as we can clearly see the 4wd makes for high G-Force and FF low.. not much to say here.

Conclusion:

In a real race i'd say the initial acceleration is the most important and that would make the mazda, silvia, skyline and 3000gt superior.. buut as we all know acceleration isn't everything in racing, the car have to be able to take a corner as well (probably a bit more important actually ^^). That would explain how the fto could keep up in races even though it's sooo slow :P

Probably also explains why the mazda was so slow as it appears to be one of the fastest in these tests.

In other words, this says nothing but still says something and who doesn't love a bit of statistics? ^^

Nice data. But at the moment it looks like Lotus series 2 is on it's way. :D

Yeah i know and next season of the JCSR would have all new cars anyway so this was just for fun :)

Looks like some people will be missing in the final race.. might make it easier for me to get a better position this time :P
