I feel like I'm the one person in the world that doesn't have a team in it and is rooting for the Rangers... Oh well.. GO RANGERS!!!!!!!

Mainly for this guy... I have a soft spot for ex-giant prospects...

I was hoping for the Rays and Phillies but that's not happening.

I'm cheering for the Rangers now. Guy I played with/against for years is one of their big prospects so that's the only connection I've got to any team left.

Texas takes game one over the Tigers. I didn't realize how balanced Texas was this year. They have no weak points, I think this will show in real nicely in these long series. But the Tigers are no slouch, losing Young will hurt though. Adapt and overcome, is the name of the game.

I'm going to take that back, Texas has the most Balanced team in baseball. They are built for these series. Good defense, good pitching, very good bullpen (Ogando was nails tonight) probably best offense in baseball... There is no week points, the run the bases, hit homeruns and shut people down.

Good pitchers duel after the last rain delay. I don't have a favorite really in this series, but would prefer Detroit take the win.

I noticed on the Brewers they have alot of players who think their 🤬 dont stink. One guy even got the nickname from me "Tupac" Cause he walked like a total gangsta and when he struck out when Shaw was pitching he broke his bat over his knee. They just seem extremely cocky almost more than the yankees. I mean come on when you are a major league player you are a roll model for all the little kids who love the same sport. You do stuff like that on national tv they see it and think either i wanna be like that or oh my god I hate him now. Poor kids.

So I guess Ordonez has a fractured ankle again. I hate to say it but without Young and Ordonez, and with Verlander seemingly being neutralized by Mother Nature lol, Texas has a favorable advantage over Detroit now. Rayburn and Kelly cannot come close to Young and Ordonez far as offensive production goes, although they are defensive upgrades for sure. I was bummed that last nights game was postponed to today but I'll be watching this afternoon for sure. Hopefully Scherzer goes at least 7 innings and keeps the ball in the park.

Pujols went bat **** crazy today. Yeah, Detroit certainly is in a hole and the Texas offense certainly isn't forgiving. Detroit is having a case of the Giants, multiple key injuries at once is hard to get around.

Freakin Nelson Cruz!!!!!

The Tigers had their chances and if it weren't for Rayburn the game never would have went past 9 innings. The fat lady ain't ready to sing in Detroit just yet, but she sure is hanging in the background...

Hey John, and Astrosdude... your Astros are going to be apart of the AL West . Two 15 team leagues with regular interleague play and one extra Wild Card.. I hate it... But I actually kind of like it. Change things up... I always love watching the Giants play the AL.

I still think Selig is a terrible commissioner (because he is) but I like this move. Now having a DH style pinch hitting will be on more NL teams wishlist.

This will all so make free agency a better bet... Won't be such a gamble on plays that haven't played the other league.

I hate the DH. Personally, I love the handicap pitcher having to bat brings. This maybe why I like most NL teams, and just don't get too excited about AL teams in general. Most people seem to enjoy more hitting, or scoring in sports. I've always been a fan of tough defense. Those crucial runs or points in low scoring games are where it's at for me.

P.S. I officially designate my redbirds cap the 'lucky' cap. They haven't lost a game on days I've worn the hat so far in the Playoffs. Go Cards!

I like having pitchers that hit too... I don't "hate" the DH as I look forward to the Giants having it more often because it will give more chances for rookies to prove our brain dead manager that they are better then our vets...

As for the playoffs... I think bullpen is the biggest thing for these playoff series. A lot of these games are close to late innings much like last year, which is how the Giants were able to succeed. Their bullpen was better then everyone's last except for SD who weren't in it. :D

This year Texa's bullpen has really shown its colors. Ogando, Adams and Felz.. .woo. That is real tough especially with the offense the Rangers supply. Kinsler, Beltre, Cruz, Napoli, Young, Hamilton at the heart of the order... flanked by Elvis, Murphey and Moreland who are all good with the bat.. I'm kind of glad we played them last year because they are that much more dangerous. Now that I line it all up.. Holy **** that is a good team. I'm kind of surprised they didn't win more games this year.

Reminds me of the good ol' Giants days when our middle of the order was killer... *sigh* ... It will improve... The word was that Huff showed up last year out of shape and never got back in it.. No wonder he was so much worse in the OF compared to 09'. Also would like to mention Posey is now catching bullpen sessions.. I now get to see the revived Pablo and Posey in the middle of the order.. With a healthy Belt and Schierholtz.... And hopefully an in shape Huff or his days will be numbered and we can say hello to Pill who is another big right handed hitter with a similar approach as Posey.

Also would like to mention the Giants have a lot of money coming off the books at the end of 2012 so next off season could be a good one.. Will help resigning Cain as he will be a unrestricted FA.

Personally I feel the DH rule is an abomination. I do, however, enjoy listening to Red Sox fans whine about not being able to use Ortiz when on the road against a NL club.

urgh...

Where are the video highlights in the MLB Gameday? I want to see Detroit's 6th inning.

They had video of the squirrel in St Louis posted up in about 5min last week.

That definitely make sense, and it does sound practical. I just love the mind games & tactics involved in baseball, manipulation or taking advantage of particular batting order, and Designated Hitters, IMO, take some complexity away from that. I'm seeing eye-to-eye with BobK, except on the Red Sox. :D

Edit:

Well, damn it.

Brewers defense is starting to show its colors. This is one glaring hole they've had the past few years. Just so many extra outs. Defense wins in the playoffs. I've re-watched the Game 4 and 6 of the NLCS last year and the World Series last year a few times... The one thing the Giants did outside of out pitch the hell out of everyone, was not making mistakes. Braves, Phillies and Texas all made tons of blunders out on the field and the Giants capitalized on it.

Another thing Texas does so good. All around the field they have defensive studs all over the place.

Also rewatching the playoffs reminds me just how good Sanchez and Posey are defensively compared to what we had to deal with all year long.

Last one was huuuge. Preserved the lead, allowing the Giants to win. =) Best throw Rowand has ever done and what a pick by Posey...

/ends Giants bias rant.

The Tiger's have completely lost their heart, I've haven't seen this sorry of playoff baseball in a long time. I mean I can't count them out yet, but being down 15-4 in the top of the 8th pretty much sealed that coffin.

Yeah, I think this may be the year for Texas.

Diamondbacks have confirmed that a majority of this years players will be back next year. Good to hear. If they can work on the weak points they had this year (like leaving people on base) then I can't wait for next year.

It looks to me like the Cards are a team of destiny this year. Much as I dislike the wildcard idea, I'm hoping they pull it off against Texas.
