Speaking of the Marlins, I've been hearing a lot about how Ozzie Guillen could be ousted as coach of the Marlins after just one season. I don't know who else Miami would be eyeing to replace Ozzie.

Well, the word around here is that Bobby Valentine will be available....

Ozzie Guillen is a dumbass. If we hired Bobby Valentine, we'd turn into the Miami Lotte Marines.

Our final home series of 2012 ends in a 2-0 victory over St. Louis. Us Astros fans will be sad that Milo Hamilton, the voice of the Houston Astros for 28 seasons, called his final game on Astros Radio. I wish Milo the best in his retirement. And better late than never- Bud Norris finally won his first game of the season. We are now 51-105. We stink this season, but at least we still know how to win games. Our final series of the season begins Friday night at Milwaukee (3 games) and at Chicago Cubs (3 games).

How are your team(s) doing today/tonight?

Everyone has put a beat down on the Blue Jays since the All-star break. Losing 3 starters in a week, then Bautista, and Arencibia out for a month didnt help.

Thats due to everyone as a whole though. I'm talking a single player...

Yeah, so basically the point I'm aiming in your direction is that Paulie over there might not be the only one going nuts off of the Freak in the last year.

Proof is in numbers. Where's yours? :sly:

Well, our season is over but today's game is something as R.A. Dickey looks for his 20th win, to become the Mets' first 20 game winner in 22 years (Frank Viola in 1990). Our team has 5 of their last 6 games, eliminated the Pirates from the playoffs (although, we just finished them off, they eliminated themselves with that 19 inning game), and did nothing else useful (David Wright is the team's All-time hit leader, woo for him).

4 positions in the playoffs have been clinched (if this were last year, it would make for an interesting case) ALL of them in the National League though. There is one spot open for 3 teams (realistically Philadelphia (5.5 back) played itself out of the playoffs). Joining Atlanta will either be St. Louis (current leader), Los Angeles (3.5 back), Milwaukee (3.5 back) or the darkhorse Arizona (4.5 back).

In the AL, nothing is decided yet.

Actually the D'backs are tied with the Phillies at 5 1/2 back and identical 78-77 records.

Not that it really matters though, neither team is going to the postseason.

My fault, thought the D-Backs won yesterday and the Cards lost, giving them another half game to the five they were already behind.

No Astros action today or tonight. It's our final off-day of the season. Remember the name Bo Porter- he'll be our new manager moving forward. He used to be a bench coach for Arizona and a 3rd Base coach for Miami, as I understand. Anything to get the Astros back to relevance is fine with me. At Milwaukee and at Chicago Cubs will define the end of this depressing season. Here's a quote about my Astros from pitcher Bud Norris from last night:

"I just thank the fans for being there for this team because we've been through a lot. We have a lot more to go. We understand that. The support that is going to help us is going to help any young child grow and develop. I kind of consider us that right now. We have a lot of work to do, and we're definitely happy to get this last win here."

-Bud Norris, HOU pitcher

A sad season for the Astros. I actually cared about this season until the Astros just fell apart like a cheaply-built car. Maybe the biggest positive to me this season was that the Astros actually were ABOVE .500 at one point of the season. It was the first time the Astros were above .500 at any point of the season since about 2009. I have no idea when this plague or curse will be lifted on my beloved team.

To all playoff contenders- stay in the fight.

Cardinals finish tough, with the Nationals and the Brewers I believe. The Brewers finish with the Astros and the Pirates. The Redbirds are not comfortable yet...

His 2012 stat line is full of numbers. All of them indicate that Timmy has been hit hard by just about everyone. Career worst ERA, H/9, HR/9, K/9, K:BB, etc etc

Unless you think your guy did it all by himself...

All I'm saying is that Goldschmidt since mid-to-late last year has great numbers as an individual hitter against Lincecum. Yes, Timmy has bad numbers because of several hitters, but I would like to know if any other SINGLE player has as good of numbers against him at Goldy does.

My bet would be "no".

Pair of walk-offs in day baseball.

Cincinnati Reds get a 2 run walk-off win in the 9th to beat Milwaukee 2-1 and push the Brewers 4 games behind the idle Cards.

Alex Avila gets a walk-off hit against KC as Detroit wins 5-4. Tigers are up 1.5 games over the ChiSox who play tonight.

R.A. Dickey may be on a pathetic team, but I feel its going to be impossible to overlook him in the Cy Young Race.

At worst he will be 19-7 (could be 20-6 if the Mets hang on here).
Right now he has 229.2 IP, 2.68 ERA, 222 K and 54 walks on the season.

He might be the best. He's a beast who caught Timmy at his worst.

EDIT: I went and got motivated to find out.

Three Guys Who Also Did Very Well Against Timmy This Year In No Particular Order:

1. Danny Espinosa: 3 for 3 with a home run, OPS: 3.333
2. Adam Kennedy: 4 for 7, 2 BB, 1 HR, OPS: 1.667
3. Carlos Gonzales: 5 for 12, 1 2B, 2 3B, OPS: 1.367

EDIT #2: For career numbers: http://www.baseball-reference.com/p...ame&orderby_dir_second=asc&ajax=1&submitter=1

Goldy is the one that does the best with the most ABs - but even 17 at bats is a small sample size. Seems a buncha guys that got to him were interleague so not many opportunities. Goldy is 14th best OPS of any hitter against Timmy for his career.

Any teams need a coach? The reason why is because Manny Acta was fired as Cleveland Indians' coach earlier today, according to CBS Sports Network.

Alright, who are your top 5 to win the Cy Young? I only know my votes for NL:
1. Dickey
2. Gio
3. Cueto
4. Cain
5. Hamels/Kershaw

As much as I would like to say Cain should be higher, I think Dickey has been the most consistent and dominant pitcher this year. He leads the league in IP, CG, Shutouts, and K's.

@ R1600Turbo, if you want to see ownage look at Poseys numbers in Miller Park.

7G 30PA .500/.567/1.292/1.858 6HR 15RBI 4BB 2K

He would hit 35HRs a year easily like Ryan Braun does. Braun isn't quite so impressive when you look at his adjusted stats.
