I was so glad to have MLB TV tonight. Being here in Wisconsin meant I only got the Brewers and Rangers on cable. Luckily I fired up the tablet and managed to watch the entire Tigers v. Nationals game in all it's low res, choppy goodness.

And Jordan Zimmermann is one hell of a good pitcher.

TWO home runs for Goldschmidt tonight. Not only does he own the Dodgers, but if we can hold on and win tonight we'll have beaten them 16 times out of the last 19 games. Complete ownage. :sly:

Edit: WIN. Also, Dodgers have lost 7 games in a row. :scared:

Votto was an average fielder when he came up several years ago. He has turned into an amazing fielder. He works hard to do what he does. (And I'm still peeved that Barney got the gold glove over Phillips last season. :grumpy:)

Obviously Phillips is a much better all around player than Barney but Barney was pretty ridiculous defensively last season. 3 innings short of setting the MLB errorless games streak at 142, 2 total errors and a UZR/150 of 17.2 versus 8.6 for Phillips, 28 runs saved for Barney versus 11 for Phillips. I like Phillips and would love him to be the Cubs 2B but if you watch Barney day in day out you can see they are both stud's with the glove. He was very deserving last season. Phillips comments about Barney during last season were pretty stupid though.

The one thing I am not enjoying in all the sports talk is how people talk about the Astros more like we're not supposed to win anything or that nobody wants us to win. I do support my Astros as much as I support most other teams in other sports. It's tough to escape, but it becomes sad being a fan of a floundering team and having to continually be the butt of others' jokes. If you know you can be better than what most people may think of you, that could just motivate you to prove many people wrong. The absolute weirdest case would be (this is near impossible, but imagine if it did) if the 2013 Houston Astros somehow found their way into the postseason, make it to the World Series, and do two things the 2005 Astros never did- win a single game... and win the World Series. If this crazy scenario materialized with the 2013 Astros, they would have proven that a team could win on talent even with our $25M USD payroll. But again, that would be the absolutely ridiculous best case scenario for an Astros fan.

The Astros will conclude this LAA at HOU series tonight. After that, here are the next three series for my Astros: TEX at HOU (3 games), HOU at DET (3 games)... and look: a National League Central family reunion- HOU at PIT (3 games)!

Best of luck to all of your team(s) today and tonight.

Oakland got robbed of a HR by Angel Hernandez (and other umpires but this is the second time he's done it). That equals a loss as it would have been a game tying HR in the 9th.

Tis true, the A's did get robbed. This could have meant a different outcome (in favor of Oakland) winning the game and not getting swept by the Tribe as it so happened.

Well, the Tribe now heads to that state up North ... Michigan. Joey's Motor City Kitties will host the Tribe for a 3 game set this weekend. The Tribe is riding 3rd spot right (1 game back of Detroit). The Tribe could end up in 1st place after this weekend ........ (I'm not holding my breath on this one though). Playing the Tiggers in Detroit will be no easy task.

We'll see.

Good luck Joey .... you probably won't need it though. We are due for a fall, and Detroit could be the team to knock us over.

Just wrapped up... Astros and Angels put up some offense. However, it wasn't our night. LAA avoids getting swept by winning 6-5 here in Houston.

Next series for Houston... a three-game set here vs. the Texas Rangers.

4 wins in a row, 5 out of 6. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction. Heath Bell stepped into the closer spot for now and I think he'll do great. In fact, he leads all of the MLB in saves since 2009. Now Kennedy just needs to get his act together. We'll find out tonight...

Astros lose again. This time, 4-2 hosting the Texas Rangers. Back-to-back wins for Texas; back-to-back losses for the Astros. Yay.

Three teams expected to contend compared to the lowly Cubs:

Dodgers .5 up
Angels even
Blue Jays 1.0 game back

What in the wide world of sports is going on? It can be tough watching the Cubs as fan but I expected a poor record. Fans of those teams have to be extremely frustrated.

Injuries have played big parts to those three teams. Angels are a mess though. No way we go anywhere with this garbage pitching staff.

Well at least we didn't get shut out. Still the only team in baseball that hasn't been shut out in a game so far this year.

8-7, Rangers. Astros fail again. The losing song and dance must be on repeat for the Astros. One last chance to salvage a win is tomorrow afternoon. If we get swept by Texas, then we're heading to Detroit trying to win again when that series begins on Monday.

The Tiger's game tonight went from what the hell? to man this is getting interesting! pretty quick. I was really hoping for a walk-off with Cabrera after Hunter had an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the 9th. I guess it wasn't meant to be though.

And I'm kind of unimpressed with Verlander this year, he seems to be becoming less dynamic and just focuses on throwing a fastball over and over again. I've been more impressed with Scherzer and Fister early on in the season. I'm sure he'll ramp up as the weather gets better, but right now I'm sort of "meh" on him.

Momma said "knock you out!" So to all your team(s), do your mommas proud and go for the win today and tonight!

Getting f:censored:ing old getting swept. Texas won 12-7 over my Astros. This defeat was the most lopsided in this series. The other two defeats were one-run losses.

We're heading to the Tigers' den next... or more like the lions' den for my Astros. Three-game set in Detroit starting on Monday.

Blew another save...

Edit: And just gave them the 🤬 game.

I'm glad though, well not for you, but for the fact that my opponent owned Reynolds this week and got crushed due to a terrible Sunday. Gio failed him and Millone blew up.

It wasn't easy for the Tribe this weekend, winning 2 out of 3 in the Motor City, but hey, we'll take it.

Game #1 - The Tribe got rocked by the Tigers 10-4
Game #2 - The Tribe eeked on out 7-6
Game #3 - extra innings, Tribe wins 4-3

With this weekends set, the Tribe has now jumped into a 1st place tie with Detroit, both @ 20-15. And yes, I'm still leery about the Tribe.

Next up on Monday, a double header with the Yankees (2 rain make ups), then it's off to Philly for a 2 game set.

Things are getting tough here for the Tribe ... attendance wise that is. Things are so tough, that Indians players are giving away FREE tickets on twitter. :(

Maybe if they started winning some gam... oh, nevermind. Are tickets expensive, or do the folk of Cleveland just not care?

^
Actually, ticket prices in Tribe town are not that bad. It's just that the people here (myself included) are used to seeing this team implode. Granted, as of this writing, we are tied for 1st place in the A.L. Central with the Tigers, however, this same scenrio played out the same way last year. Hot in the 1st half - *All Star Break* - Cold in the 2nd half. We see this every year, the Tribe somehow magically hits a brick wall then plummets towards the bottom. Even at that, I still make it up to Cleveland about 3-4 times a year to watch the Tribe .... win or lose, doesn't matter, it's hard to beat a day out at the old Ball Park. ;)

Cubs locked Anthony Rizzo up for 7rs/41 mil plus two team options. Great deal for player and team. Also are reports that they are looking to lock up Samardzija and Garza as well as be big spenders in the offseason. Garza would be interesting as his value has surely diminished after being out almost a year with his forearm splints/lat strain/dead arm. He appears healthy at this point and should only need 2 more rehab starts before returning. If they lock up both then their rotation for the future is looking solid when you throw in Appel/Gray if they reach their potential. Present stinks, excited for the future.:)

Good luck to all of your team(s) with the next batch of series. My Astros will get some Midwestern hospitality as we'll be in Detroit, trying not to get swept by the Tigers (again). After this series, we're going Interleague. But for us, it will be an NL Central family reunion this weekend as we're at the Pittsburgh Pirates this weekend for three games.

But again... HOU at DET for my boys. Hope your team(s) do well in their next series.

Haven't cubs fans been saying that for most of the last 100 or so years? :P

Yeah for the most part.:grumpy: The Cubs are finally trying to build a team the right way (through the draft/farm + trade/free agency to fill in wholes) rather then the old way of the past (overpaying free agents, save money on draft, and trading away what talent they had in the minors). The old way gave them a window in '07 and '08 but they didn't succeed in the playoffs and that window closed quick leaving a flawed organization top to bottom that is still recovering. When I look at everything from locking up their young stars early, renovation of Wrigley, increased National TV revenue, WGN contract up after next season, increased focus on draft and international free agency, plus improvements in the farm system the past two years I see good things coming rather than the old way of hoping things will fix themselves. The goal is to become the Cardinals but with more money.:dopey:

Astros lost 7-2 at Detroit tonight. So Houston is either trying to force a Rubber Game or be one game away from getting swept depending on tomorrow. George Postolos, the Astros' president and CEO, recently resigned. Downward spiral continues. More people probably feel like we should just forfeit this season and look ahead to 2014 at this point.

Bryce Harper just ran face first into the wall hard in LA. He was running after a fly ball and didn't see the wall at all. He immediately dropped and was motionless for a few seconds. It appeared he cut his chin or neck and eventually left the game under his own power. Very scary.

That's two this week who have run into a fence at full tilt, like they didn't recognise the warning track (Red Sox RF against the Blue Jays).
