Astros swept by Detroit. 9-0 victory for Detroit. We were just a piñata to Detroit, and the Tigers took plenty of good hits on us. God, help the Houston Astros Baseball Club. This is unfathomably sad.

Good luck to all of your team(s) today and in all the new series. My Astros are off tonight (they've been off all or most of this season to begin with), but we'll try and entertain the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim starting Tuesday night. This would be the "JohnBM01 vs. Patrick Special" among us GTPlaneteers.

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night and Wednesday night's Tiger's game. They are playing the Nationals, my favorite NL team, and what I think will honestly be a preview of what the World Series will look like.

I was surprised to see that the Tribe took 2 of 3 from the Twins. This bumps us up to 14-14, and up into 3rd place in the A.L. Central, just 4 games back. Don't worry about us though, we'll soon be heading on a skid, typical Tribe ball. We are now hosting the A's for a four game set. GL Tribe.

I'm looking forward to the series Cleveland is playing against the Tigers this coming weekend. It always makes for good baseball to see two rivals go against one another.

This weekend starts our skid. :nervous: We'll be back in 6th place after a set with you Joey.

Love both teams. Go both teams!

P.S. Braves gets the much needed win against the Reds tonight. 👍

Good comeback by the Blue Jays. Buehrle got taken for 7 runs in the 3rd to make it 7-0. Arencibia hit a 2 run HR with 2 out in 9th to go up 8-7. Janssen lights out for the save :)

Man, am I glad the Cubs' bullpen blows. :P I keep hearing about how Marmol has been sucking all year, but they continue to put him out there. The Reds were the latest to make him pay today. Gotta suck to be a fan of the Cubbies.

Lol, it has been tough watching them blow lead after lead day after day but at the same time most Cubs fans went into the season expecting a rough season. There have been some positives to take out of it so far even though the record doesn't show it. And at least I can still, look forward to the Draft and Trade Deadline.

P.S. Choo sure is going to look good in a Cubs uni next year.:sly:

Great job by Cliff Lee for the Phillies against the Giants last night; two runs on five hits over eight innings. In a bizarre change from the normal course of events, though, the Phils lineup actually gave him some run support, giving him the 6-2 win instead of a 2-0 loss.

The loss against the Braves last night confirms the idea that the Reds can't compete against quality competition. We can beat up on the lower teams all day, but put us up against an above average team, and we lose the series almost every time. It's going to be a .500 season if we don't break that trend. :indiff:

P.S. Choo sure is going to look good in a Cubs uni next year.:sly:

Nooo! I want him to stay here. Plus he wouldn't fit in there, he gets on base too often.

Matt Harvey, meh. Only did this:

Matt Harvey is 1st player in Modern Era (since 1900) to pitch 9 innings w/ 12+ strikeouts allowing no walks and only 1 hit with no decision.

Gadammit. If they stayed down like they were supposed to at the bottom of the 9th, I'd have agreed with you. Bah!

Another good comeback win by the Jays - down 4-1 early, and won 6-4. This just doesn't happen in Tampa - normally that's where they go to kill a hot streak, not start one.

Still waiting to hear about how J.A. Happ is doing after stopping a line drive with his head. :nervous:

Hell to the yes! It was a football score of 7-6 here in Houston as the Astros won tonight (sorry, Patrick). We did it on seven hits with no errors. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim put on eight hits, but committed three errors. Jordan Lyles picked up the win along with a J. Veras save. Losing for LAA was C. Wilson. The Angels hung three runs on us in the first inning alone. We just managed to hang on and man up to win this game. A caption said this is our first comeback win of the season.

Elsewhere...

* While this is great that we won, spare a thought for former Astro J.A. Happ, who took a horrific line drive to the head in Tampa Bay. Even though Toronto won 6-4 at Tampa Bay, I certainly hope J.A. Happ can recover from this.

* The New York Mets won 1-0 at Citi Field hosting the Chicago White Sox. Nine innings wasn't enough as the Mets pulled off the win in 10 innings.

* Also winning 1-0 was the Cleveland Indians as they hosted the Oakland Athletics. I read this shutout for OAK ties for the most shutout losses in the American League.

* The Ohio loving continues as the Cincinnati Reds iced the Atlanta Braves 5-4.

* The Chicago Cubs downed the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1 at Wrigley Field.

* It was 6-1 at Fenway Park as the Minnesota Twins were not afraid of the Green Monster. The Red Sox couldn't hold the Twins on this night.

* 4-3 was the score in Baltimore as the Orioles dethroned the Royals.

* Seattle took a long trip to Pittsburgh. Go away so far and get beat? Not a good feeling. The Pittsburgh Pirates won 4-1.

* The Midwest is not too kind to the Texas Rangers, and the Milwaukee Brewers didn't do Texas any favors. The Brewers sobered up and won 6-3 against Texas.

A ball at AT&T Park was blasted long and out into the water... but foul. A crappy-looking boat caught it. But of course... the ball was foul.

Congrats to all other winners. Too bad the Tigers at Nationals game got rained out today.

I can't believe we pulled that one off! 9th inning, 2 out, 2 strike, pinch hit homer to tie it? Then Choo's 2nd long ball of the night to walk off one batter later? Against one of the best closers in the league? Unbelievable. I was happy at the result. Sorry, a6m5. :sly:

I just caught the game tracker, didn't know it came down to the final strike. That is pretty awesome. Congrats. 👍

The liner that Happ took off the head was an absolute rocket. Very scary. Hopefully he wasn't injured too bad.

2-in-a-row in LA this week. Hopefully we can sweep the Dodgers. They put JJ Putz in tonight to save our 5-3 lead and promptly walked the first batter on 4 pitches and then was taken out with what seemed to be some kind of injury. I hate to say it but he needs the time off to get his act together, let someone else take the closer spot for a while.

Season isn't going as I had hoped, but we're only a couple games back even with all the losses lately. I can only imagine where we would be right now if we hadn't blown those 10 saves.... :ouch:

And Goldschmidt. If this guy keeps up his fantastic fielding, he'll be up for a gold glove for sure at the end of the year. Guy is a machine at 1st base and at the plate. Glad we have him locked up for 5 years. :dopey:

Best wishes for former Phil J. A. Happ. That ball that bounced off his head ended up in the right field corner. Just to give you an idea how hard that ball was hit.

The Phils win their second game in a row, which this season is something of a newsworthy event in and of itself, and all you mention is a foul ball?!?

All Harvey did was pitch 9 innings and a one hitter, and he doesn't mention that either .

The PHI at SF game was still in progress when I typed up that post so I didn't make mention to that score in that post. I also just wanted to post something lighthearted. That foul ball story easn't as ludicrous as the foul ball last year that Carlos Gomez thought was a home run... all to strike out on the next pitch.

Another point I want to make is that I actually like these Interleague series. Some matches are very good ones. People looked at the Tigers at Nationals series as a World Series preview. And what fan of one league wouldn't want to stick it to the other league? As an Astros fan, I have to support my boys as an Ameeican League. Long story short... it is great to see more of these Interleague matches.

Enjoy some Wednesday baseball, folks.

Small sample size but UZR/150 disagrees with you on that one. Votto is at 13 right now, Goldschmidt 1.5, Rizzo 1.4. Career highs Rizzo 14.2 last season, Votto 10.4, Goldschmidt -1.2.

Votto was an average fielder when he came up several years ago. He has turned into an amazing fielder. He works hard to do what he does. (And I'm still peeved that Barney got the gold glove over Phillips last season. :grumpy:)

The fact that it went so far is probably a good (in relative terms) thing, because that means there was still plenty of energy left in the ball. If it stayed in the infield, it means all of the momentum would have gone into J.A.'s head, and we may be talking about something a lot worse than a headache.

We'll take the 3-1 victory. The Houston Astros saw Bud Norris almost get a complete game win, but it was a win for Bud Norris along with the Save for Veras. We are finally in double digits for wins. Losing for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim was Joe Blanton. Astros are now 10-24.

Here's something I heard on MLB Network- the Angels are 11 games under .500 for the first time since 2006. Wow!

Congratulations to all other winners, including the Nationals beating the Tigers just now in Washington, D.C. (as of the time of this post) 3-1.

Oakland got robbed of a HR by Angel Hernandez (and other umpires but this is the second time he's done it). That equals a loss as it would have been a game tying HR in the 9th.

Just saw that HR call on the video - even on the blurry replay it was pretty clear that the ball hit the railing above the yellow line. The regular view looked like it hit the line on the wall, but that zoomed in replay was clear that it was above.
