I feel like every one of our games this year so far have gone to extra innings.

Edit: And we've won all the ones that have. Still a horrible road trip.

The Reds just finished up an 8-2 home stand. Granted the series' included the Marlins and Cubs, but still excellent nonetheless. The Reds' pitching was outstanding throughout all the games. Set a franchise record (which ended today) where the pitchers struck out 10 or more batters for 6 consecutive games. And their overall ERA was in the 1's.

On a side note, there is a cool promotion the Reds run. Anyone familiar with Cincinnati knows about LaRosa's pizza. If Reds' pitchers strike out 11 or more batters in a home game, any fan who attended the game gets a free, small pizza from LaRosa's and ice cream from UDF. (I was lucky to see Latos do this at a game I went to last year :dopey:) The fans were rewarded 6 times on the home stand. Amazing.

With that said, the Reds have what will be a tough 10 game road stand, starting with a 4 game series in Washington. Hopefully we can keep up the momentum. 👍

For the first time in 22 years, the Mets get a walk-off Grand Slam to win. The Mets beat the Dodgers 7-3 in 10 innings at Citi Field.

I found out the Astros' next series is our first against an AL East team. That team? The Boston Red Sox. Even better... AT the Red Sox. Yep. We're going to fail hard in this upcoming series...

First time in 14 years, but first time the guy got to home plate in 22 years.

Okay. Thanks for clarifying. I just mentioned the 22 years thing based on what I heard during a live look-in on MLB Network. I still congratulate the Mets on a walk-off Grand Slam.

I figure I would start a little discussion. What has surprised you so far this season, if anything? Who/What has/have impressed you? Disappointed you?

[UPDATE] My Astros are NOT off today. This HOU at BOS series is a four-game series. I made the edit here.

Being a Reds fan, one name comes to mind. Choo (sorry to any Tribe fans here). Choo is 2nd in the majors in batting average at .392, 1st in hits, has been hit by an astounding 10 pitches already (next closest is 4), and leads the majors by a large margin in OBP at a .534 pace. Over half the time he comes to the plate, he ends up on base! Votto is 2nd in the majors at .477 (and he has been "struggling" by his standards). Not that I ever disliked the guy, but Stubbs', who we sent away to get Choo, OBP is only at .388. We needed a leadoff hitter that could get on base, and I think we finally have one.

Astros lost 7-2 at Boston today. I'm expecting a BOS sweep unless Boston gets bored and LET us win. This is not the attitude to have for your favorite team. However, we're overmatched against almost everybody else. Astros are now 7-15. MLB Network has the over/under win total at 60 for Houston.

I think I would need to be hitting with a surfboard...

Rain, rain, rain .... Tribe was postponed tonight. It will be rescheduled as a double header on Sunday. We are currently visiting the Royals this weekend for a 4 game set.

Our pitching just sucks. Carrasco is re-habing in the minors, then when he does return, he has an 8 game suspension to fulfill. Not looking good for the rotation. Our only glimmer is Justin Masterson (4-1) 1.85 era .... that's all we have. The other Indians starting pitchers combined are 1-10 with a 7.41 ERA. It's gotten so bad, the Indians are willingly going with a four-man rotation.

Oh well, no one ever said baseball in Tribetown was an easy task.

Jordan Zimmerman one-hit the Reds tonight. Glad I missed the game. Poor Homer gave up 1 through 7 innings, but took the loss. The Reds' offense is so difficult to watch. They'll knock a team around for 10+ runs one night, then put up a big 'ole goose egg the next. Irritating. :banghead:

7-2 loss on Thursday for my Astros at the Red Sox. Friday, we lost by a football score of 7-3. Boston continuing their winning ways while we keep floundering. Yay.

After their great home stand, the Reds have dropped 3 in a row on the road to Washington. We are still stuck on 1 win total on the road so far. Horrendous.

Swept. Again. Too much talent to take on in this HOU at BOS series. All due respect, and with the Boston Strong theme, the Astros were complete bulls:censored: in this series. Boston's wins in this series: 7-2 on Thursday, 7-3 on Friday, 8-4 on Saturday, and 6-1 today. You almost feel like watching the Dynamo and awaiting the Texans than see the Astros keep failing.

I am not suggesting the Red Sox are sorry or anything. All I'm saying is that my boys need to wake up and realize just who the hell they are messing with in going from the National League to the American League.

Yeah it's getting a bit concerning with the record. Still time to turn it around but if it goes much longer they won't enough time to make up the distance.

Hey look, Mets got swept. Shocking to nobody.

Considering who did the sweeping, it's somewhat surprising though. I was hoping for a series win and not really anything more, but I'll certainly take the sweep. Phils and Mets swap places in the standings, too.

As for Toronto, yeah. Hope it doesn't turn into the kind of season the Phillies had last season: up until the All-Star break I was like, yeah, things are a bit rough but Utley and Howard'll be back and then things will get better. Problem is, they never did until it was way too late.

In any case the Jays are still my pick for the AL East, with the Red Sox at or near the bottom.

Guess who our next opponent is? Right- the New York Yankees! AT NYY! Yep, time for the Astros to get killed again. Yay...

I was going to do a standings update; but because of PC/online issues, and since it would take too long to do this mobile (like I'm doing now with GTPlanet's lovely mobile app), I'll pass. Okay... one standings update- Astros are dead last in the AL West. Who knew?

Ye of no faith! 10 years ago Houston threw a no-hitter at Yankee Stadium.

Okay. Let me try to get this all put together here. STANDINGS UPDATE:

--- American League ---
AL EAST: Boston (18-7), NYY (15-9), BAL (15-10), TB (12-13), TOR (9-17)
AL CENTRAL: Kansas City (13-9), DET (13-10), MIN (11-10), CHW (10-14), CLE (9-13)
AL WEST: Texas (16-9), OAK (14-12), SEA (11-16), LAA (9-15), HOU (7-18)

--- National League ---
NL EAST: Atlanta (15-9), WAS (13-12), PHI (12-14), NYM (10-13), MIA 6-19)
NL CENTRAL: Pittsburgh 15-10), STL (14-10), CIN (14-12), MIL (12-11), CHC (9-15)
NL WEST: Colorado and Arizona (15-10 each), SF (13-12), LAD (12-12), SD (9-15)

And there you go. These should be the standings heading into to tonight's matches. We're just getting started. It's all about who can make enough noise to go into October with a chance to become champions. It's early, but there's still a LONG way to go.

First inning and we're already down by 2 runs, thanks to Kennedy FAILING yet again. Rookies pitching better than him this year, definitely not worth what we are paying him right now. Needs to pick it up.

Yep. It was a 9-1 massacre in the Bronx... by the Astros! Yes- you read right. No typo. No April Fool's joke. Upset of the season! We hung 17 hits on the Yankees with no errors. The Yanks put up 8 hits and committed only one error. Astros never trailed. In fact, I think we were up 2-0 or 3-0 after the first inning. Lucas Harrell picked up the win for Houston while former Astro Andy Pettitte picked up the loss for the New York Yankees. My only question is... where the hell was this offense in the HOU at BOS series?

This was Game 1 of a 3-game series between HOU at NYY. The happiness can last only so long. However, we do at least know we won't be swept in this series. Big win! You SHOULD be happy any time you beat one of the greatest franchises in any discipline of professional sport like the New York Yankees. I keep hearing the same rant about how A-Rod makes more money than the entire Astros' payroll. Money gets you talent, but talent itself is priceless; and that's what the Astros proved at least on this night. Or maybe we just got lucky so I could post a happy post on GTPlanet. Either way, it's win number 8 for the Astros this season.

*happy dance*

My #1 NL & AL teams are actually #1! Go Braves, Go Red Sox! Cards & Ranger, too! Although Darvish left WBC Japan team hanging, I'll still root for him. Hard to argue the results.

--- American League ---
AL CENTRAL: Kansas City (13-9), DET (13-10), MIN (11-10), CHW (10-14), CLE (9-13)

{J/K} Thanks for the subtle reminder John.

We are now 10-13 after a 9-0 beating down of the K.C Royals. Incidently this win followed a 9-0 beat down of the Tribe. Finished 2-2 with K.C. in this last set. We are now coming home, next up, a two game set with the Phillies, then a weekend set with the Twins.
