Guess who our next opponent is? Right- the New York Yankees! AT NYY! Yep, time for the Astros to get killed again. Yay...

The Yankees are not the team they were in recent years. Nonetheless I suppose you're still right.

I was going to do a standings update; but because of PC/online issues, and since it would take too long to do this mobile (like I'm doing now with GTPlanet's lovely mobile app), I'll pass. Okay... one standings update- Astros are dead last in the AL West. Who knew?

Okay. Let me try to get this all put together here. STANDINGS UPDATE:

--- American League ---
AL EAST: Boston (18-7), NYY (15-9), BAL (15-10), TB (12-13), TOR (9-17)
AL CENTRAL: Kansas City (13-9), DET (13-10), MIN (11-10), CHW (10-14), CLE (9-13)
AL WEST: Texas (16-9), OAK (14-12), SEA (11-16), LAA (9-15), HOU (7-18)

--- National League ---
NL EAST: Atlanta (15-9), WAS (13-12), PHI (12-14), NYM (10-13), MIA 6-19)
NL CENTRAL: Pittsburgh 15-10), STL (14-10), CIN (14-12), MIL (12-11), CHC (9-15)
NL WEST: Colorado and Arizona (15-10 each), SF (13-12), LAD (12-12), SD (9-15)

Wouldn't it have been easier just to post a link here?

I always do things detailed, detailed has been the way I've always wanted to do things unless I'm really bored. I usually look to Yahoo! Sports because it's the quickest and most reliable (as far as access) to my material. So that's what I do. I rarely visit official pages of pro sports leagues (just as the Major League Baseball website).

I am still proud of the Astros on the job they done last night at the Yankees. More wins for my boys will keep my little-bit-crazy self a bit more stable.

Better hope the Angels and Athletics had enough time to recharge before taking each other on after a 19-inning game last night! Most East Coast types wouldn't be endurant enough to stay up to see the conclusion of something like LAA at OAK.

I kept noting the Astros were down 4-0 in the 7th inning. Well, we lost 7-4 at the New York Yankees tonight. The month of May will start with a Rubber Game for my Astros going up against the Yankees. We will return to Minute Maid Park after Wednesday night's game... but will we end the road trip with a win or a loss? We shall see.

Neither team committed an error. Astros put up 9 hits while the Yankees put up 15. Hiroki Kuroda was the winner for the Yanks along with a M. Rivera save. Losing was Philip Humber for the Astros.

I didn't even know about the Astros moving to the AL. I just happen to run into a article about it last week. Too bad, AL sucks. :P

ATL won again! 👍

Yep. Astros spent 50 of their 51 years in the National League. We're debutantes in the American League this season. I eventually understood and became okay with the move the more I thought about it. However, just because I understand the move (two leagues each with five teams across three conferences) doesn't mean I approve of it.

Whining aside, HOU falls to 8-17 after tonight's 7-4 loss at the Yankees.

I have to throw this in again.

VW can be a epic hit & miss when it comes to commercials, but this is one of the best, all-time. DH sucks.

:P

Holy Asswhippings Batman !!!

The Tribe opened one up on the Phillies tonight .... 14-2. The Tribe went yard 7 times tonight (7 times ), 2 of them by Ryan Raburn. A 2 run dinger in the 5th, and a solo in the 7th.

Top of 1st - Tribe
Santana homered, Kipnis scored
Reynolds homered, Giambi scored

4-0 Tribe

Top 2nd: Philly
Young homered

4-1 Tribe

Bottom of the 4th - Tribe
Chisenhall homered, Reynolds scored
Cabrera singled to first, Raburn, Stubbs scored

8-1 Tribe

Bottom of the 5th - Tribe
Raburn homered, Giambi scored
Brantley homered, Stubbs scored

12-1 Tribe

Top of the 6th - Philly
Utley homered

12-2 Tribe

Bottom of the 7th - Tribe
Raburn homered
Stubbs homered

14-2 ...... FINAL

The Tribe has now won 3 in a row, outscoring their opponents 33-5 in this span.

Wondering how long this streak will last though.

🤬 JJ Putz. Trevor Cahill pitches a FANTASTIC game tonight, was in line for the win in a 1-0 game. JJ comes in for the 9th and gives up a 2-run homer. Unbelievable. Just simply pathetic, Trevor deserved to have the win. Now he gets nothing.

What the hell is the problem this year. Our star pitcher can't pitch to save his life, and our closer just downright sucks. :ouch:

Un 🤬 believable.

Edit: If anyone is wondering, we have blown 10 saves so far this year. TEN.

Pathetic.

So the Phillies didn't just lose two games to Cleveland, they got shelled by a combined 20 runs to 2. The losing pitchers: Cliff Lee and Roy Halliday, arguably two of the best pitchers in the game.

Eight hits for the Phils in the two games, combined. No excuses like last year; everybody's healthy this time. Starting to look like this year is going to be more of a repeat of last season than a return to 2008-2011 form.

Yeah, I know we're barely a month into the season, and maybe I'll be back in September to eat these words. We'll see.

Close, but not close enough. After being down 4-0 at the Yankees, the Astros came back to tie it 4-4. And the ultimate result is that the Astros failed again: a 5-4 defeat at the New York Yankees last night.

Up now is a four-game weekend series as Joey D's Detroit Tigers of MoTown come on down to H-Town. This is a big deal for Houston since we're taking on the defending AL Champions. This is going to be a tough one (as if most of the others haven't been- excluding Seattle).

Anyone want to do team assessments so far? All I can say is that my Astros have played a little better than most people probably think they'd do this season. Many were thinking we'd be a total doormat that will have maybe... five wins at this point. José Altuve, Carlos Corporan, and especially Justin Maxwell have been great contributors to the Astros' cause. Just like with my Rockets, though... Comcast SportsNet Houston is still a big problem for us fans here in Houston. Not many people have this channel to see their home teams play on TV. I still closely follow my boys using radio and an Android app. These would be accomplishments for my Astros this season:

* less than 100 losses
* not placing last in the AL West
* not having the worst record in all of baseball or in the American League

So what about your team(s)?

I sadly doubt you will avoid the final two (un)accomplishments.

The first one, well, you had 9 wins in April, by rough math you will finish (based on that average) at 54-108.

Cubs lead 2-0 after 7 and 2/3rds of an inning, need 3 pitchers to record 1 out, give up 4 runs, all earned..

Nine wasn't enough. We failed in 14 innings 7-4 to Detroit. Astros probably should have won 3-2. Detroit just batted around in the Top of the 14th while the Astros ran out of steam. So... Game 2 of 4 between DET at HOU is tonight (since it is after Midnight here in Houston).

That was a long game last night/this morning, I think it was nearly 5 hours. The Astro's gave us more of a run for our money than I thought they would considering how every sports news outlet says they're a horrible team. Looking forward to game 2 tonight.

Detroit won 4-3 tonight over my Astros. Baseball gods and Lady Luck hate my Astros, so we keep losing. Even more sad former Astro José Valverde helped in DET's takedown of my boys.

At least you guys still got Hockey. They still play those professionally, eh? j/k :P

Sad thing is Toronto's hockey team has been awful to mediocre for 10 years, then out of nowhere this year they suddenly had a good season. Then the Jays made all the moves and had tons of hype but continue to struggle after 20 years of being a complete joke

Note: don't think for a second I'm a fan of Toronto's hockey team :P

Last Sunday night was the first National League Sunday Night feature match. This Sunday Night's match is another NL showcase- but not just ANY NL clash... it's the Prosthetic vs. Villain special- LAD at SF.

I read there was almost a no-hitter today by (I think) Baltimore. But, it was broken up as the Orioles are in Anaheim taking on Patrick's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Yeah, the no-hitter was over as soon as I turned it on. I was excited to see Garcia come on, they talked about how he's pitching a no-hitter into the 7th, then he was hit. O's been getting beat since, the game might be over soon now. Going extra inning.
Note: don't think for a second I'm a fan of Toronto's hockey team :P
Don't worry, I know nothing about hockey, so I don't even know what that means!

We got OWNED by Detroit. They won 17-2 over my Astros. I stopped following the game when DET was ahead 8-0 by about the 5th inning. This was an ass-whooping with fries and a drink. Saying that tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo, the Astros have already been beaten like a piñata so far this season. All the candy (or almost all) been beaten out of us.

Sucks to be an Astros fan in this day and age. Downward spiral ever since the improbable 2005 World Series run. I almost wish Biggio, Bagwell, Berkman, and countless other Astros save this hopeless team. Of course, Berkman plays for... another team.

Man, am I glad the Cubs' bullpen blows. :P I keep hearing about how Marmol has been sucking all year, but they continue to put him out there. The Reds were the latest to make him pay today. Gotta suck to be a fan of the Cubbies.

And John, better days are ahead. It may take some time, but those 'Stros will be competitive again. It may not be this year, or even next, but it'll happen. Every team has some down years before coming back (except for the Pirates, God bless their souls).
