Looked at the astros score and it was 2-1. Played with my dog for 20 minutes and is 13-1 in the same inning...
Why did Harrell start?

On Thursday it will mark the 6th anniversary of the Texas Rangers putting up 30 runs on the Baltimore Orioles. Based on the way the Astros are playing pretending they know how to play, that record could be in danger.

Don't f:censored:ing remind me. I'm as pissed an Astros fan as anything. 8-1, TEX at the Bottom of the 3rd. 15-5, TEX at the Bottom of the 7th. Ass-whooping meal with extra large fries and an a large soft drink. Thank you, drive through. Bloody hell. I almost feel like my Astros probably would rather go back to Anaheim and take on the Angels rather than endure another Rangers evisceration. As if Houston's taken their losses already, this back alley beat down is just atrocious.

I'm not even going to update this post with the final score because I know it's over. Only way Houston wins at this point is if Texas gets bored and let us win. This Astros team would probably even lose to a Little League team. M:censored:f:censored:ing disgrace. I know we're playing Texas at Texas, but they are 100,000 times better than this bulls:censored:.

[UPDATE] ...or maybe I will update. It was 16-5 in favor of Texas. The radio announcers on the postgame show even were upset at the Astros being the Rangers' chew toy. Just recently, I posted this in my Facebook profile:

"The Astros REALLY failed tonight- 11 runs by the Rangers in the 3rd Inning as every Texas Ranger scored. Texas end up winning 16-5 over the now 41-83(?) Houston Astros. Even the Astros announcers after the game on the radio were disappointed at the Astros' performance. The Astros are still my team. I'm no fair weather sports fan. I even stuck by my Houston Texans that season we finished 2-14. But... that's what happens when nobody believes in you and when you feel you aren't good enough to win others' respect- you end up with crappy seasons and fail badly."

The growing pains of being a fan of a losing team in any sport. Yay. "F:censored: my life" (FML, of course) as the kids would say.

Jose Fernandez should win no contest... .4 something lower ERA, 20 more strikeouts, o and 5 years younger.

Agreed, that's my pick as well. But, I really do like Ryu too...in the end I believe Fernandez deserves it more than Ryu.

Rangers shredded the Astros 16-5. 11 of those runs came in the third inning. Everyone in the Rangers lineup scored at least once. Some fun facts from ESPN Dallas:

-The Rangers' 11-run third is the biggest inning in the majors since St. Louis scored 12 runs on July 21, 2012 against the Cubs, also accomplished by the Cardinals without a home run.
-According to Elias Sports Bureau, the last time nine different players scored for one team in an inning was Aug. 31, 2012 by Oakland in the seventh inning against Boston.

Tomorrow it's former Astro Travis Blackley against Jarred Cosart. Alexi Ogando is dealing with shoulder inflammation, and had an injection this weekend, which resulted in Matt Garza starting tonight and Blackley starting tomorrow. The Rangers still need to make a roster move, and it will either be Ogando to the DL or sending the struggling Robbie Ross to Triple A.

Meanwhile in Oakland, the A's and Mariners are knotted at 1 in the bottom of the 7th.

Both Texas and Houston have an off day on Thursday.

EDIT-Nevermind, I thought you said you were expecting the Rangers to put 30 up against the Astros on Thursday.

@JohnBM01, it's a shame the Phillies and Astros don't have any games scheduled against each other. If there were any possible way for both teams to lose a game, they'd probably find it.

Having said that, though, the Phils won their second game in a row last night by defeating the Rockies 5-4. First time they've managed that feat since mid-July.

Dempster suspended 5 games for plunking A-Roid. That's a little overboard IMO.

Grand Slam Goldy! Welcome surprise when I got home and checked the MLB app. :D

Corbin was fantastic tonight, save for one mistake that cost him the shutout.

Paul Goldschmidt is just too damn good. If Arizona gets in the postseason and goes far into the postseason, Goldy is going to be a big reason why they can go far into the postseason.

Jeebus, I forgot all about that one.
I read that Major League Baseball will suspend Ryan Dempster for five games for plunking Alex Rodriguez in that Sunday Night game between NYY at BOS. Whether you love or loathe A-Rod, what do you think about the suspension?

Here is a link for you on this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/20/ryan-dempster-suspended-a-rod-red-sox_n_3786524.html

[UPDATE] The 5-game suspension also includes Ryan Dempster's wallet getting lightened $2.5K.

His next start will get pushed back by 1 day, no big deal for Dempster. The money, it's more than likely chump-change for Dempster, no big deal again.

Finalizing our West coast trip in L.A., the Tribe was able to snag game 1 off of the Angels 5-2. This due in part to a 4 run 4th inning. The Tribe will come back home for a weekend set against the Twins. Then off we go to take on Atlanta for a 3 game set, then head off to ..........

Back to Detroit for a 3 game set. Really, really, really hoping that this next trip to the Motor City will yield better results than our last trip. :ouch:

Rangers take the series against the Astros by winning game 2 4-2. Jarred Cosart pitched pretty well, only allowing one run through the first 6 innings. But in the sixth he made one bad pitch to Adrian Beltre with a runner on base...he sent it to the right field seats.

Travis Blackley did okay in his Rangers debut. He went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs. Joe Nathan picked up save 37.

Tomorrow it's Erik Bedard against Derek Holland. Also tonight, the Rangers Foundation raised over $100,000 for Oklahoma tornado victims by auctioning several VIP sports packages and player baskets filled with memorabilla and player's favorite items.

Elsewhere Mariners trailing Oakland 4-2 in the 5th.

I knew it wouldn't take long for Goldy to do his damage. And Corbin had the Reds' number all night long, save for that one pitch to Heisey. The real annoying thing was, had we been able to avoid giving up that homer to Goldschmidt, Heisey's dinger would have put us ahead. Also Phillips now has some more ground to make up on Goldschmidt if he wants to catch him for the NL lead in RBI's.

The way these two teams are playing, I feel a split coming for the series after Thursday's finale.

So basically he will just be pushed back on his start by 1 day :sly:

That, and he doesn't get paid for those five days. That's about $430,000 :indiff:

EDIT - Nevermind I guess they are doing it differently.

Ryan Dempster. The first pitcher to be suspended for hitting a player that should already have been on a suspension. :dunce:

Eventually someone will realize they can take potshots at ARod and won't be physically injured because ARod can't charge the mound and start a brawl. That would be funny though for MLB to hand a suspension to someone already suspended (he'd probably bring his crackjob of a lawyer to work on that too.).

If Zack Greinke throws a gem today in Miami, then his ERA can drop below 3.00 (anything as good or better than 2ER in 7IP, or 1ER in 6IP will do the trick).

Looking at the Dodgers' starters by ERA, we currently have:
1. Kershaw 1.80
2. Ryu 2.95
3. Greinke 3.02
4. Nolasco 3.60 (2.98 as a Dodger)
5. Capuano 4.70
-----------
6. Fife 2.47

Capuano is barely holding onto his spot in the rotation by a thread. Fife is on standby in AAA, ready be called up to be the fifth starter on a moment's notice. Not too shabby as far as contingency options go.

If Capuano proves to be grossly ineffective (he's been hot and cold), then he's a DFA candidate, but I think the Dodgers are more comfortable holding onto him in the event that someone gets injuried. It gets a little rough on the depth chart (as far as MLB-readiness) after Stephen Fife.

Be honest, Villain... did you REALLY expect your Dodgers to be on this kind of roll right now at this point of the season? It has to be a pleasant surprise.

Earlier today... San Francisco got smacked up at home, like, 12-1 smacked up by the Boston Red Sox. And also spare a thought for Heyward of the Atlanta Braves. I heard he took a hit-by-pitch to his jaw. "That's gotta hurt," as one might say. Braves still beat the Mets 4-1 in 10 innings in Queens.

Congratulations to all other winners so far and after the time of this post.

[UPDATE] Congratulations to Ichiro Suzuki on getting his 4,000th hit in all of professional baseball just now (as of about 7:23 PM EDT). It would be a travesty if Ichiro isn't in somebody's baseball Hall of Fame with the career he's had.

Saw a replay of it just now...ouch.

Also, just got a ScoreCenter notification saying he's out for 4-6 weeks with a fracture. I'm not familiar with the Braves, so is that a big loss?

Yea it's a pretty big loss. Was hitting .366 w/ 6 doubles, 5 HR, 15 RBI, 1.052 OPS in past 21 games before today

I saw the hit-by-pitch Jason Heyward took during FOX Sports 1 highlights. OUCH! That was about as hard as taking a haymaking hook punch in a boxing match. Heyward is on the shelf for about 4-6 weeks. Hope he bounces back after taking that brutal hit-by-pitch.

Congrats Ichiro on 4K.

It took 14 innings, but the Tribe was able to get game 2 from the Angels last night, 4-1. Game 3 of this set is in progress, bottom of the 8th, Tribe up 2-1. A close one working here.
