It was 3-1 here in Houston as the Astros win again. The difference in this one was a two-run jack by George Springer (or a "Springer Dinger" as we're calling home runs by George Springer) late in the game. It was still enough to help push the Astros to a victory. Happy times right now for the Houston Astros Baseball Club as they push their current win streak to six.

Elsewhere...

* KM684's Texas Rangers won 5-4 at Justin's Minnesota Twins.

* It was also 5-4 in Oakland as Joey D's Detroit Tigers took down the Oakland Athletics.

* All smiles for Blitz24's Mets as they won 4-1 at the Philadelphia Phillies.

* All good things must come to an end. Sadly for Toronto, that means their winning ways. Their winning streak went no further after they lost 8-6 in ten innings hosting the Kansas City Royals. Maybe after the Royals got swept by my Astros, they decided to take their frustrations out on Toronto. It worked!

* At Fenway Park, Boston handled the Atlanta Braves 4-3.

* The St. Louis Cardinals were beaten by the visiting San Francisco Giants 6-5.

Congratulations to all other winners from Thursday.

Reds somehow pulled out a win last night against the Dodgers after losing 4 straight. Of course, now we have the joy of getting kicked in the nads by R1600 Turbo's D-backs. This team is going nowhere fast this season. The starting pitching is pretty good (most of the time), but the offense just continues to sputter. 3 or fewer runs in the past 5 games, and we're currently being shut out by the aforementioned D-backs. I wonder how big of a shakeup there will be on the team come summer? I hope it doesn't come to it, but it wouldn't surprise me if we dealt someone like Cueto or Leake for some bats.

Great game by Collmenter, faced the minimum for a complete game 3-hit shutout on 97 pitches. 👍

The Astros yesterday won without second baseman Jose Altuve, who George Springer mistakenly hit out of the park.

Rangers take 3 of 4 against the Twins. Martinez did okay for Texas, he kept his team in the game. Clutch hitting won the game.

On to Washington.

The Houston Eagles beat the Baltimore Elite Giants tonight 2-1 in the 2014 Civil Rights Game. For the first time since 2010, we reeled off seven straight wins. The big factor in this one was Houston banging in a deep hit by Jonathan Villar, who was hitless in his last 26 at-bats. A deep bomb by Villar brought in one Eagle/Astro that ended up being the difference maker. So the Astros now have won seven straight. I think this now brings us to 24 wins on the season so far. Both teams collected five hits each and made no errors.

Congratulations to all other winners from Friday, including Boston winning 3-2 just now in 10 innings (as I'm typing up this post!). I've been hearing of Tampa Bay and Boston getting into yet another bench-clearing brawl.

Without even seeing any of the game, I predict that the Reds lost tonight.

Edit: Top of 9. Somehow we've managed to score 5 runs, up 5-4. This after scoring 3 runs or fewer in 7? straight games.
Edit 2: Apparently Mesoraco hit a grand salami earlier in the game. Added another solo shot in the 9th with 2 outs to give us a little more cushion. Might we actually win this game?

Baltimore won 4-1 today over my Astros. So our seven-game winning streak goes no further. This was still a great run for the Astros. This actually got some fans to care again about the Astros after so much losing. You're going to lose in baseball. Only thing is... don't lose often or with regularity. Anyhow, we failed. Chris Tillman won for BAL along with a Save from Zach Britton. Dallas Keuchel took the loss for HOU. We are assured either a series win or a series split depending on what happens tomorrow.

Actually, BOTH Texas teams lost today. We lost 4-1 today, then Washington ripped a new one on Texas with a 10-2. The Nationals roughed up the Rangers real good on Friday night. Man... Texas can't buy one in this series so far.

That's all. Congrats to all other winners from Saturday.

We're currently failing so I turned it off. I can only take so much losing before I lose interest in listening to the game.

Not sure how they're doing it, but it looks like the Reds are somehow going to take 2 games against the D-backs. Cueto is pitching, so I'm not surprised the D-backs haven't scored. I am, however, surprised the Reds have put up 5.

Well out record is worse this year, so that says it all.

Wow. I didn't realize they were that far under .500. Anyway, the Reds are trying to blow it now. Cueto walked a batter then hit the next guy with a pitch. He got pulled, and Manny Parra immediately gave up a single. So bases loaded, and now Broxton is in with Goldy batting. :nervous:

Edit: Whew. Broxton got us out of that jam.

Goldy sucks right now. Before I turned the game off he struck out on 3 pitches swinging.

Edit: At least Oakland came back in their game, big time.

From winning seven straight... to two straight losses. We failed again. This time, bad. Like, 9-4, Baltimore. So the O's leave Houston with a series split.

We're back in action on Tuesday when Patrick's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pay a visit to Minute Maid Park for a three-game set.

I salute all the winners from Sunday.

Just when I think we're making headway, we lose on a day when we needed a win to make up ground on 3 of the other 4 teams in the NL West that lost as well.

In other news, Oakland is on a roll again.

And there are your standings. Still a lot of baseball to go. It's a chance either for teams to improve their positions or for current leaders to possibly falter. Anything can still happen.

If you wish to make an assessment of your team(s), you are more than welcome to do so. Here's mine...

The Houston Astros Baseball Club is currently 24-34 on the season. They recently reeled off an amazing seven-game winning streak. Part of that winning streak was two series splits and a sweep at the Kansas City Royals. I read an interesting stat from a random site... the 2013 Houston Astros through 56 games had a 19-37 record and struck out 531 times. This year through 56 games, they are 24-32 and struck out 472 times. So things may be getting better. The Astros are basically the team of the future. While the future is good, sports are about here-and-now; and the reality is that we're still bringing up the rear in the tough AL West. The big difference in our turnaround has been George Springer banging Home Runs ("Springer Dingers" as we call them). 1B Jon Singleton signed a 5-year deal to play for the Astros, and he'll suit up tonight in Astros colors when we take on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim tonight for a three-game set. The future is bright for the Astros... but the present Astros still need to show improvement today if they want to maybe be a surprise team. A realistic long shot would be this season's Astros contending for the AL Wild Card. But they are going to have to get hot while other would-be AL Wild Card contenders start screwing up.

All of this said, enjoy some Tuesday night baseball and good luck to all of your team(s).

The Rangers were very stupid to let Nelson Cruz go. He is on fire, and leads the majors in homers. He even hit one tonight against his former team tonight. Sure, his defense wasn't the best, but Texas' big bat is out for the season.

The first game of this LAA at HOU series went to Astros, as we won 7-2 over Patrick's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The guy to watch was Jon Singleton. He struck out on his first at-bat, was walked in his second, and then banged in a wicked Home Run later. All the pressure in the world on this guy, yet he delivers a homer. The jack that he hit helped the Astros to their silver (25th) win of the season. I'm obviously a happy boy that my team won. It was a win for Colin McHugh for HOU, and a loss for C.J. Wilson for LAA.

* The New York Yankees are probably apologizing that they couldn't give us other AL West types a helping hand. The Yanks fell 5-2 in 10 innings in The Bronx. Dan Otero won for OAK along with a Sean Doolittle Save. Adam Warren was the NYY loser.

* The Baltimore Orioles flew into Arlington, Texas to play at the Texas Rangers. The O's spanked the Rangers 8-3. Brian Matusz picked up the win for BAL, and Alexi Ogando was the TEX loser.

* 5-3 was the score at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio as the Indians beat the Boston Red Sox. Nick Hagadone got her done for CLE as he picked up the win along with a Save from Cody Allen. Jake Peavy lost for BOS.

* The Phillies' struggles continue as they failed at the Washington Nationals 7-0. Jordan Zimmermann picked up the win for WSH while David Buchanan lost for PHI. Even though this game was not in Philly, I saw a sad stat about Philadelphia at home- they haven't been selling out. They had about 45K fans on average for games in 2010. This year, they are averaging about 30K fans a game. Attendance has been dropping. Sad.

* Sunshine State showdown. Two schools of fish- the Tampa Bay Rays and the Miami Marlins. Who's the better school of fish? At least on this night, it was the Miami Marlins who won 1-0 tonight in Miami. The winning pitcher for MIA was Henderson Alvarez. Further compounding Tampa Bay's woes was Chris Archer, who took the loss.

* The Show-Me State has its own little rivalry. Kansas City won 8-7 at the St. Louis Cardinals. A win for Wade Davis and a Save from Greg Holland was what KC picked up. Trevor Rosenthal took the loss for STL.

* Arizona won 4-2 in the Mile High City. Denver wasn't very pleased seeing their beloved Colorado Rockies lose tonight. Chase Field is where Arizona plays, and Chase Anderson was the ARI winning pitcher and the Save from Addison Reed. Jorge de la Rosa was the COL losing pitcher.

* Wrigley Field was the site of Chicago Cubs vs. the New York Mets. The Cubbies won 2-1. Hector Rondon won for CHC while Scott Rice lost for NYM.

Congratulations to all other winners from Tuesday.

Was at today's game. Springer and Singleton had a couple similarities; one of then being they both miss easy balls in the field.

But I got Singleton's HR on camera so I'm happy :D

For those interested-
Jonathan Singleton first career hit-HR 6/3/14:
I would not reccomend wearing headphones. Right before the ball lands, I highly recommend turning volume down.

Astros failed tonight. 4-0 in favor of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The series finale will be a Rubber Game tomorrow.

The MLB First-Year Player draft is tomorrow. Have to wonder whom the Astros will take as their top pick. One also has to wonder whom will get drafted and to where. The action all begins tomorrow!

Well I was listening to the game tonight up until Colorado tied the game in the 5th then decided I would rather watch Netflix so I turned it off. Checked in later to see us losing 8-5 so gave up on it. Boy was I wrong.

We won this LAA at HOU series with an 8-5 victory. Peacock was the winning HOU pitcher along with a Save from Chad Qualls. Former Diamondback Skaggs took the loss for LAA.

Up next for the Astros, we're at the city of this season's MLB All-Star Game for a three-game set at the Minnesota Twins.

As an off-topic note, I mentioned the D-Backs. They'll be here in Houston later this month. I heard about that since hip-hop artist Drake wanted to do some promoting here in Houston as the D-Backs will be in town.

Elsewhere...

* Speaking of the Diamondbacks, they soared high above the Colorado Rockies with a 12-7 beat down. This is the first time Arizona won three or more successive games since late April earlier this season.

* The Texas Rangers won 8-6 today against the Baltimore Orioles. The crowd in Arlington loved seeing the Rangers take down the O's.

* The New York Yankees did the AL West a favor by beating the Oakland Athletics 2-1 today in the Bronx.

* Toronto and Detroit aren't separated by a whole lot, but Toronto distanced themselves from the Detroit Tigers today with a football-like 7-3 score. Since that's a football-like score, this would be the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL beating the Detroit Lions of the NFL... and it would be a damned shame.

* Miami decided to slap up Tampa Bay a bit. They did just that- 11-6 beating of the Rays. Another solid performance by the Miami Marlins in this battle between the Sunshine State's two Major League Baseball teams.

* Dolph Drago's Cincinnati Reds had to suffer a 6-1 loss at home to the NL West-leading San Francisco Giants.

* 7-4 was the score at Wrigley Field as the Chicago Cubs nicely handled Blitz24's visiting New York Mets.

Top overall pick of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Astros was Brady Aiken. He's a left-handed pitcher who is 6'4" out of San Diego. Congratulations to all other winners from Thursday.

[UPDATE] Updated the ARI at COL score.

Texas takes one of three from the Orioles...hopefully this series with Cleveland will produce a better result.

As if there was any doubt that Marlins Park is a pitcher's park (Unless you're G. Stanton), they just drafted 102mph fireballer Tyler Kolek. Assuming they actually keep players around this time, our rotation is gonna be awesome for years and years.
