And there are your standings. Still a lot of baseball to go. It's a chance either for teams to improve their positions or for current leaders to possibly falter. Anything can still happen.
If you wish to make an assessment of your team(s), you are more than welcome to do so. Here's mine...
The Houston Astros Baseball Club is currently 24-34 on the season. They recently reeled off an amazing seven-game winning streak. Part of that winning streak was two series splits and a sweep at the Kansas City Royals. I read an interesting stat from a random site... the 2013 Houston Astros through 56 games had a 19-37 record and struck out 531 times. This year through 56 games, they are 24-32 and struck out 472 times. So things may be getting better. The Astros are basically the team of the future. While the future is good, sports are about here-and-now; and the reality is that we're still bringing up the rear in the tough AL West. The big difference in our turnaround has been George Springer banging Home Runs ("Springer Dingers" as we call them). 1B Jon Singleton signed a 5-year deal to play for the Astros, and he'll suit up tonight in Astros colors when we take on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim tonight for a three-game set. The future is bright for the Astros... but the present Astros still need to show improvement today if they want to maybe be a surprise team. A realistic long shot would be this season's Astros contending for the AL Wild Card. But they are going to have to get hot while other would-be AL Wild Card contenders start screwing up.
All of this said, enjoy some Tuesday night baseball and good luck to all of your team(s).
