I should be a psychic. As soon as I heard JJ Putz was pitching, I said to myself: "We're gonna lose this game".

Well what do you 🤬 know.

Nine innings didn't solve anything between the Arizona Diamondback and Houston Astros tonight here in Houston. So after Arizona tied things up with a solo homer in the Top of the 9th, Chris Carter of the Astros hit a walk-off jack to win 5-4. We now have 31 wins on the season and are now 31-37 on this season.

Up next for the Astros... a three-game weekend series against Tampa Bay here in Houston. As for Arizona... get ready, R1600Turbo, your Snakes are going to have some Los Angeles Dodgers problems this weekend in Los Angeles. At least thank the Reds for knocking around LAD some earlier today.

Elsewhere...

...the game MLB Network shown earlier today was the Milwaukee Brewers at the New York Mets. This game couldn't be settled with nine innings, so it took about... I think 13 innings until the game was eventually signed, sealed, and delivered on a wicked Grand Slam by Milwaukee. 5-1 victory for the Brew Crew.

[UPDATE] No Grand Slam... just four runs that helped break the Mets' backs in extra innings.

Congratulations to all the other winners from today and tonight.

Forgot to post last night...but Yu Darvish finally got that long-awaited complete game shutout. His previous high was 8.2 IP...8.2 of perfect ball against Houston and 8.2 of no-hit ball against Boston.

Might want to read the box score before making the Grand Slam assumption.

Two run HR by Lucroy in 13th,
Single by Reynolds with bases loaded in the 13th,
HBP of Khris Davis in the 13th with bases loaded.

I really need to catch up with this season. I've fallen so far behind. It's so unlike me not to be on top of every stat and score.

That was me last year. Not being able to watch games on TV really ruins the experience/season...

I have the MLB.TV premium package. I'm just not using it. I've only watched maybe ten games this season. Last year I was watching four games at a time. The only thing I know right now is that Cruz and Encarnacion are hitting the leather off the ball and my Yankees seem to have lost that winning spirit.

In my latest post, I got so caught up on a Milwaukee home run that I thought it was a Grand Slam. I posted the update and apologize for misinformation.

Enjoy the Father's Day weekend series, everyone!

But if I give you the password and username, everybody will want it.

Friday the 13th wasn't our lucky night. We failed 6-1 here in Houston hosting Tampa Bay last night.

The Houston Astros won 7-3 today hosting the Tampa Bay Rays. We got ourselves a Rubber Game tomorrow afternoon to see who'll take this series. A big key to this one was the Astros going up about 5-1 after tying the game 1-1 after Tampa Bay led 1-0 early.

Congratulations to all other winners from today... including Detroit, who almost let Minnesota climb all the way back after leading about 12-1 into the 7th Inning or so.

Houston couldn't suppress Tampa Bay today. We lost 4-3 in the finale of this TB at HOU series. Tampa Bay takes two out of three. It's good for the Rays to feel confident again. However, that confidence came at our expense.

Up next for the Houston Astros Baseball Club... two games at the Washington Nationals followed by four games at Tampa Bay. So we have a chance to maybe return the favor against the Rays.

Congratulations to other winners from Sunday, including wins for Blitz24's New York Mets and Dolph Drago's Cincinnati Reds with a blowout win.

[UPDATE] FOUR games at Tampa Bay as part of the six-game road trip.

Here's the vote leaders for the NL All Star team:
1B Goldschmidt
2B Utley
SS Tulowitzki (vote leader)
3B Wright
C Molina
OF Puig
OF McCutchen
OF Stanton
Top of the 5th in the Angels Braves game, and its been all Angels so far.

Well we were tied and now because Gibby wanted to play the "left hand right hand" BS that is baseball, he took a pitcher out that got the first two batters out in the inning, then the new pitcher promptly walked the first two batters and now it's all just gone down hill.

In other news the A's are getting stomped and it's Monday. Going to be a great week.

I figured out the Astros were off for Monday. So this gives me a chance to offer a little assessment.

Overachieving? Lucky? Surprisingly good? The Houston Astros Baseball Club lost their last series with Tampa Bay. Despite the fact the Astros have been winning a lot of games lately, we are still bringing up the rear in the AL West. Leaps and bounds improvements as well as slip-ups from the rest of the AL West could bring the Astros from being the caboose on the AL West train to maybe being one of the other cars on that train. Or with LOADS of luck... the main engine itself on the AL West. It is possible within a year or two that the Astros can actually be relevant again and perhaps be a contender. If not for the AL West, then MAYBE an AL Wild Card contender. If we're talking Wild Cards, I can only hark back to the 2005 season. The Astros won themselves a Wild Card back in the NL Central days and made it all the way to the World Series. So anything is possible. I'm actually happier and more positive about the 2014 Houston Astros as opposed to last year's 51-win club. Who knows? Maybe we'll match or better that little promotion of 63 wins. For the uninitiated, the promotion is that Gallery Furniture's "Mattress Mack" turns 63 this year. If the Astros win 63 or more games this season, everyone who purchased at least $6.4K in furniture would get all of their money back and their furniture free of charge. And with the Astros currently at a record of 32-39, they are a little over halfway home to matching or bettering that interesting promotion.

Players the likes of Chris Carter and George Springer have made a difference for the Astros. José Altuve (all 5'5" or so of him) carries the load for the Astros like a heavy duty pickup truck. Dexter Fowler is also pretty awesome for Houston. Dallas Keuchel has been a beast among the pitching talent. While we're a team of tomorrow, I'm certainly hopeful the Astros can be a team of NOW rather than so much the future. Astros fans should be happy regardless as to how things are going right now. Question is, can we keep it up and maybe pull some surprises? I want to equate this Astros team kind of like the 2013-2014 Phoenix Suns of the NBA... at least in terms of a team no one thinks will make any significant noise but surprises others with solid and consistent winning and hard play.

Maybe there is significant hope for the Astros to return to some sort of relevance. Maybe...

There is my little assessment of my team so far. Make your own assessments if you like. I still want to offer my thoughts and prayers in loving memory of Tony Gwynn and all whom have known and loved him after losing his 4-year battle with salivary gland cancer.

Sort of mind blowing but here is a stat about Tony Gwynn. In all of his career, he only struck out 3 times in a single game once. The pitcher who did it to him? Bob Welch, who passed away last week.

Now that is quite the stat.

I was confused a lot when I tried to follow the score. One team led 4-0, but I keep getting flip-flopped in thinking it was the Astros or Nationals leading. Eventually, it was the Nationals who were ahead. They then led us 6-1. The Astros apparently made a comeback... but enough. Long story short- we failed. 6-5 was the score in Washington, D.C. as the Astros fell to the Washington Nationals. This brief two-game series concludes tomorrow before we head off to Tampa Bay for four games.

Congrats to everybody who didn't fail today/tonight.

Well our pitcher hit Braun with a pitch and was promptly thrown out, but that loaded the bases and then they promptly hit a grand slam. Not sure what our deal is at home this year. All I have to say is that if things don't change for the better, Gibby needs to find a new job next year. Unacceptable.

KC Royals lead the AL Central after an 11-4 beat-down of the Tigers. I just wish that the Tiger's starting pitchers would stop sucking since the bullpen chokes half the games away anymore....
