Happy times for the Diamondbacks, same old bulls:censored: for the Astros. It was a 12-5 loss on Friday night for the Astros hosting Oakland. The last time I checked into the game, the score was tied at 5. It took a while for the Astros to finally figure out Oakland last season. Right now, they are still playing dead while letting Oakland just run us over. When you're trying to rebuild you don't let s:censored: like this happen. But... the Astros must love losing (or maybe they want to actually win for a change), so I don't think they care about making any kind of winning effort. Yet another loss. Granted we're taking on a powerhouse team, losing is getting redundant for the Astros.

The Braves have taken the wind out of the Reds' sails, as we've dropped the first 2 against them. Pitching is there (for the most part), but this team is going nowhere without offense. I probably sound like a broken record, but it's the truth.

Rangers bounce back to take game 2 against the Mariners. Felix Hernandez ran into control issues in the 5th, and walked in a run. Texas got 2 more runs in the inning, and then scored 3 more in the final 2 innings.

Tomorrow, Matt Harrison will be pitching in the majors for the first time since April 2013.

We managed to finally beat the Oakland Athletics last night. It was a 7-6 victory for my Astros here in Houston over the A's last night.

Well...Matt Harrison gets a no decision in his first start since last year. He did great, only allowing one run. The bullpen blows another game. Kyle Seager hit a 3-run bomb, and has torn up Ranger pitching over the past two series. If I were Alexi Ogando I would have just intentionally walked him and loaded the bases up, and maybe Texas would still be in the lead.

Oh well, at least the Astros were able to beat Oakland 5-1.

Mets won 2 out of 3 vs. Miami, moving to 14-11 on the year. Gee goes 8 innings and Torres throws 1 to shut the door on Miami.

Cueto continues to dominate with nothing to show for it, with a no decision today after the Reds lost 1-0 in 10 innings. He pitched 8 innings, only allowed 3 hits, 0 runs, and struck out 11. But we still effectively got swept by the Braves.

It doesn't help the Reds have been getting royally screwed by these so called "expert reviewers" in their comfy confines in New York. I don't know what replays they are watching, but they sure as hell aren't the plays from the Reds' games. On Tuesday, the Reds' Brayan Pena got a double and was called safe. It was reviewed, as he popped up off the bag and the player tried to tag him while he was momentarily off. From what the replays showed, it sure looked like he never got the tag on Pena, and the play should have been upheld. But somehow it got overturned (I didn't see any CLEAR evidence where it should have been overturned). Then today's game, Cueto throws over to 1st on a pickoff attempt. The ump called the player safe, as he thought the runner got back to the bag before Votto's tag. The replay showed Votto applying the tag with the runner being out by a good foot. But once, again, the Reds get screwed as the call is somehow upheld. (You should watch the replay on mlb.com. It's ridiculous how they could have still called him safe.) The Reds' manager, Price, came back out to talk to the ump (which apparently is a no-no) and got ejected. Then Bailey got ejected for yelling from the dugout.

I was fine with the idea of replay reviews before the season started. But the guys in New York appear to be too busy watching plays from other games, because in this week alone, I've seen them blow two calls against the Reds. Has anyone else's team been getting a screwjob?

Apparently, we managed to split our four-game series hosting Oakland. Our win yesterday was a 5-1 victory on a day where Astros fans brought their dogs to Minute Maid Park. And rather than play dead, the Astros played winning baseball.

I think up next for Houston is a three-game series here in Houston against the Seattle Mariners starting tonight.

Time to play, make fun of Baseball teams, courtesy of Baseball Prospectus (Teams listed in ranking order):

Los Angeles Angels: If Garrett Richards literally threw gas, the infield would look much worse.

Los Angeles Dodgers: Now they are 7-11 against teams are not the Diamondbacks. They don't play them until mid-May, so it may behoove them to also play other teams well.

Texas: "You remembered to take Geovany Soto off our All-Star ballot candidates, right?" "No but I'm sure someone did."

New York Yankees: All of Masahiro Tanaka's pitches are lethal: the floater, the bomber, the climber, the builder, the digger … wait, these are Lemmings power-ups.

San Francisco: Ever notice how many Brandons this team has? Brandon Crawford, Brandon Hicks, Brandon Belt, Pablo Brandonval, Brandison Brandgartner, Tim Brancecon and Branster Posey.

Toronto: Their Sunday lineup had an MLB-record six Dominicans, along with a Canadian, two Americans, and a knuckleballer (origin unknown, probably lives on a cloud in the sky).

Cincinnati: That's now four times Billy Hamilton has been caught stealing this year. That's eight too many.

Miami: "Keep batting Casey McGehee cleanup until somebody notices," that's what I always say.

New York Mets: Bobby Abreu will tell his grandchildren about the time he hit his first home run as a Met, just as soon as they get home from school today.

Houston: Minor league free agents with career ERAs near nine are hot commodities, which is why Collin McHugh has allowed one run in 15 1/3 innings.

Arizona: The constant bright spot for this team remains that giant yellow orb in the sky.

Texas: "You remembered to take Geovany Soto off our All-Star ballot candidates, right?" "No but I'm sure someone did."
Same case with Jurickson Profar, who is injured and may or may not be ready to play by the time the ASG rolls around.

Seems like when our pitching is good, we can't hit. When we hit, our pitching sucks. The game on Saturday was great, we lit up Cliff Lee in the first half of the game and had a 5-0 lead. Once we took out our starting pitcher who was doing fantastic, we ended up with a 5-6 loss. 🤬 sad.

You can always look up at the sun and then never have to watch this team again!

Are there any teams or players that you find underrated at this point of the season? If so, who or what? And what do you think about the whole replay and review system so far?

I didn't like the Reds trading Ryan Hanigan away, but Devin Mesoraco has been a pleasant surprise, pretty much leading the team's offense. Of course, naturally he just had to get hurt and is now on the DL...As for the replay and review system, you can check out my rant from a couple of posts above. Reds have been getting hosed. I haven't kept up much with the rest of the league.

I am impressed with how the Mets Starting Pitching staff is doing early in this season. I am not impressed with the team's inability to hit even a stationary beach ball.

R1600Turbo, it looks like your Snakes are getting some pitching help from my boys. We apparently traded Lucas Harrell from the Astros to the Diamondbacks. What we're getting in return will either be another player or some cash. Good luck to Lucas Harrell with his new team.

Good news...Shin-Soo Choo is back in the lineup tonight after missing nearly a week with a sprained ankle. He will be the DH.

Bad news...Kevin Kouzmanoff has a herniated disk and surgery is likely. Recovery time will be 7-12 weeks.

The cure for losing...play the Cubs. Reds just got the win tonight. Last night was rained out, however. Not sure when the makeup game will be played.

We managed to tie the game in the 8th with a HR, then the first batter for CO in the 9th hits one out giving them the lead back.

Oh brother.

Edit: rack up another one...

Time to play, make fun of Baseball teams AGAIN, courtesy of Baseball Prospectus (Teams listed in ranking order):

Los Angeles Angels: Two facts: 1) Albert Pujols is slugging .602 in an amazing comeback season. 2) Mike Trout has been two and a half times as valuable as Pujols.

Los Angeles Dodgers: ‘Dee Gordon: leadoff hitter’ is like a Sylvester Stallone movie about competitive toothpick house building that you enjoy.

New York Yankees: Robinson Cano returned to New York and fans chanted "Sellout" at him which is weird because only 37,484 people were there.

San Francisco: In a transparent attempt at baseball immortality, Matt Cain missed last night’s start after cutting his finger while preparing a pre-game sandwich. Cain is day-to-day. The sandwich was delicious.

Texas: “Scoring nine runs on eight hits is easy. Tell ‘em Wash.”

Toronto: Last night Brett Cecil got both a hold and a loss which raises the questions, just what exactly was he holding and would he have pitched better if he’d put it down?

Cincinnati: Billy Hamilton homered which might mean baseball is broken.

Miami: The player with the highest OBP on the team with the second-highest OBP in the NL is Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Sowhatdoyamakea that?

New York Mets: Eric Young has a .320 OBP this season and a .325 OBP in his career yet he has hit leadoff in 92 percent of the Mets games this season. Why is he in the leadoff spot? Is he stuck there? Does he need help?

Houston: I hope the Astros know it’s going to be tough to keep losing like this if they continue to accumulate first overall draft picks.

Arizona: The Diamondbacks left the tying and winning runs on base in the ninth inning which at this point really should count as a win for them.

The Houston Astros Baseball Club lost 4-3 last night hosting the Washington Nationals. I think tonight's pitching match involves Zimmermann for WSH and [winless] Oberholtzer for HOU.

Enjoy your Wednesday baseball!

[OFF-TOPIC] I will now start using "WSH" to mean Washington D.C. teams; I used to use "WAS."

Well...the Rangers have not had a single lead in this series. 4-0 in game 1, 9-3 in game 2, and...

10-0 in game 3. In the 5th inning. Facepalm.
