Damn. I knew he had a history and figured that it would play a hand in the suspension, but he's a hell of a lot dumber than I initially thought he was. The MLB is already going to watch Jose like a hawk after the whole Odor incident, and one would have thought that a guy with a history of initiating brawls would have been a lot smarter than to go after someone who was already being watched after how he was involved in one.
You know how they suspend people for PEDs? This guy is on SEDs (Stupidity Enhancing Drugs).

THIS JUST IN...

Four-game suspension for Manny Machado for his role in that KC at BAL brawl the other night. I heard this just now as breaking news while watching "The Doug Gottlieb Show" on CBS Sports Network. Well... too little, too much, or just right?

Have to wonder what other suspensions will be doled out.

Way too little.

Correa just got hurt.

Well, considering that MLB has placed the video of the fight under their "Must C" category on MLB.com..., my guess is the more likes/views a fight video gets, the lesser the suspensions will become. We're turning into Hockey over here...

More fights will #MakeBaseballFunAgain :P

As for a more serious answer- no. Should have been longer. I was thinking between 7-10 for him charging the mound.

Houston couldn't go back-to-back in the wins column after today's game. Texas beat the Astros 5-3, so we take 3 out of 4 in this series. TEX's winner was Martin Perez with a Save from Jake Diekman. For the losing Houston Astros, it was a loss for Collin McHugh.

Up next for Houston... we go from the Lone Star State to play in the Sunshine State over the weekend. Houston Astros at the Tampa Bay Rays for a three-game weekend series.

Elsewhere...

I wanted to note that Manny Machado plans to appeal his suspension and the $2.5K fine he got.

Congratulations to all other winners from Thursday, and welcome to Major League Baseball to all the players who got drafted tonight in tonight's First Year Player Draft.

Here is an update I want to make in its own post. So you may have read that Manny Machado got a four-game suspension. What about Mr. Yordano Ventura? Well, he got a nine-game suspension. What do you think about this suspension for Ventura?

He should count his lucky stars he wasn't suspended longer. If he does it again, he should be demoted.

Taillon went 6ip, 6h, 3er in his debut and was sent back to AAA because the bullpen is shorthanded. The real Jeff Locke pitched today. 4.2ip, 11h,11er, 3bb, 2k. That guy who dominated the Marlins last week was a imposter.

They failed harder than I usually do at Call of Duty with that.

We couldn't get back-to-back wins, but we can get back-to-back losses. Tampa Bay beat the Astros 4-3 tonight at Tampa Bay. We couldn't bring anybody home with the bases loaded in the Top of the 9th. This is the 13th time the Astros lost by one this season- most in the American League. Matt Andriese was the TB winner with a Save from Alex Colome, and Lance McCullers picked up the loss for HOU.

Congratulations to all other winners from Friday, including the New York Yankees blanking the Detroit Tigers in the Bronx.

The Reds had a season like that a couple of years ago. They just kept losing by one which was incredibly frustrating.

Tonight, however, it was a win by one for the Redlegs. They triumphed 2-1 while entertaining the A's. It was DeSclafani's first game back pitching this year, and it was a good one. He pitched 6 innings while only giving up a lone home run. Wood came in and somehow pitched 2 not only scoreless, but hitless innings. Cingrani got the save thanks to a swift double play to end the game. We're still quite a ways back in the standings, but we seem to be getting better. It should help both the rotation, as well as less stress from over usage for the bullpen, having DeSclafani back. Waiting on Homer and Iglesias now. I'm not sure when Homer's going to be back. Evidently he threw his first bullpen session several days ago since his April setback. And Iglesias may begin a rehab assignment soon. So that's a good sign.

Mets win again in a great outing by The Dark Knight Harvey but our offense was absent for most of the game until the 11th when we scored on a forced out. Still 2.5 GB the Nats but we're hanging in there!
LGM!

Game 2 of the series against the A's just finished up. Straily was fantastic again for the Reds. 7 innings of 1 run ball. Jay Bruce nearly knocked one completely out of the park. It was only a couple of rows from the very top. I don't think he's hit one into the river like Adam Dunn (and possibly Wily Mo Pena?) did some years ago, but he's sure come close on a few occasions. That 2 run blast was the difference maker in the game today. Another 2-1 victory, same as last night.

How did the Houston Astros Baseball Club do today? Well, we won! 4-3 was the score in Tampa Bay as we finally join the 30-win club. The offense does take a hit without Carlos Correa in the lineup. Thankfully, we were able to deal just fine, at least for this game. Our winner was Matt Fiers and a Save from Will Harris. Chris Archer was the loser for Tampa Bay. We got a Rubber Game in Tampa Bay tomorrow to decide this series.

Elsewhere...

* Whoop dat AL arse. Boston spanked the Minnesota Twins 15-4 in Minneapolis. Heath Hembree picked up the win for the Boston Red Sox. Kyle Gibson was tagged for the loss.

* Whoop dat NL arse. The Chicago Cubs thrashed Atlanta 8-2 in the ATL. Big bad Jake Arrieta was the CHC winner while Matt Wisler took the loss for the Atlanta Braves.

* Canada's only remaining MLB team, the Toronto Blue Jays, took care of the visiting Baltimore Orioles with an 11-4 victory. Former Astro J.A. Happ picked up the win for TOR. For the O's, their loser was T.J. McFarland.

* 2-1 was the score at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, OH; as the Reds tripped up the Oakland Athletics. Dan Straily won for CIN and Ross Ohlendorf got the Save. Daniel Mengden was the loser for the A's.

* The New York Mets didn't have a good time in the Midwest today. The Kings of Queens lost 7-4 at the Milwaukee Brewers. It was Wily Peralta winning for MIL along with a Save from Jeremy Jeffress. Logan Verrett was the losing pitcher for the Mets.

* It was an 8-0 blank job in Washington, D.C., as the Washington Nationals slapped around the Philadelphia Phillies. Tanner Roark was the winner for the Nationals. Aaron Nola was the loser for Philadelphia.

Congratulations to all other winners from Saturday up to and beyond the time of this post.

Just wrapped up...

Astros won yesterday to make this HOU at TB a Rubber Game series. And the Astros don't do too much to make things interesting today. We failed again at the incredibly boring Tropicana Field 5-0. A state I heard on radio is that since moving to the American League, the Astros are (now) 7-18 against the Rays. This is the eighth time we lost to Tampa Bay in a shutout since the move to the American League. So we ended up getting shelled by the Rays in their house. Matt Moore was the TB winner. Dallas Keuchel took the loss, and maybe he needs to go down to Triple-A or something to regain his confidence and remind himself who the hell he is. Stuck on 30 wins and tacking on one more loss to have a 30-35 record.

Up next for the Astros... our next two series will be NL Central reunions for my Astros. First, we're at the St. Louis Cardinals starting on Tuesday for a brief two-game series. Next weekend's series will be against Dolph Drago's Cincinnati Reds here in Houston. Sadly, my Astros won't have Roy Oswalt to counter the Reds.

Congratulations to all of the other winners from Sunday up to and beyond the time of this post.

Fun fact: I was at the game that the Reds finally handed Oswalt his first loss against us. We had won games in which he had started before, but he had never taken the loss himself. I want to say his record was something ridiculous like 15-0 against us until that evening. I must have been the lucky charm for once. :)

Good luck against those pesky Cards. I know the Reds obviously aren't in contention with them this year, but I always love to see those Redbirds go down in flames. :)

Well the Pirate ship has sunk. After a stretch of 31 games in a row with no off days other than a couple of rain outs they have lost 11 of the last 15, lost the staff ace (Cole) to a yet unannounced injury and the starting catcher (Cervelli) for 2 months with a hand injury. The pitching has been mostly bad and the former MVP is now a .250 hitter who can only hit singles or strike out chasing bad pitches. Next up is starting Tues. in NY is a stretch of 26 games in 27 days that ends at the All-Star game. I expect us to be under .500 by that time so there should be a few players available in trades. Melancon should draw a few phone calls since he will be a FA at the end of the year. David Freese was signed to a 1yr deal and would be a good fit off the bench for some contender. Jon Niese might be attractive since his deal his a 500k buyout and honestly if somebody called to inquire about McCutchen I would consider moving him too.

You'll win this series.

When I checked my Facebook profile posts, I noted that not today, but yesterday in 2012, the Houston Astros lost at San Francisco 10-0 in a Perfect Game by Matt Cain. This was part of the Astros' incredibly brutal futility, when it seemed like they tried to get the worst record three straight years- and succeeded! Today's Astros are about 30-35 now as we get back to work after taking Monday off. We also don't have the worst records. Those honors go to Atlanta (18-45) in the National League and Minnesota (20-43) in the American League.

Another lighthearted sort of comment I want to make... I am not sure if I mentioned this before or not, but do you know who I miss in regards to Major League Baseball? Ozzie Guillen. He was a character, but a character nonetheless. Last I heard is that he's going to manage some Venezuelan team after this current Major League Baseball season.

That's all from me. Enjoy the new series! Good luck to all of your teams.

Before 2013, this Astros at Cardinals match would be a regular NL game as well as an NL Central game. Since moving to the American League, this is another Interleague match. It was a win for the Houston Astros Baseball Club as we defeated St. Louis 5-2. Winning for Houston was Doug Fister and getting the Save was Will Harris. St. Louis' losing pitcher was Jaime Garcia. We suit up and play ball again in this brief two-game series tomorrow night.

Congratulations to Tuesday's other winners, including the Pittsburgh Pirates blanking the New York Mets in Queens.

The Houston Astros Baseball Club concluded this brief two-game series in St. Louis with a 4-1 victory. So we managed to slap around the Cardinals a bit before heading back home. Tony Sipp picked up the win for HOU as Will Harris gets the Save. It was Kevin Siegrist who took the loss.

While St. Louis will have to deal with the other Texas team coming up, up next for the Houston Astros is another former NL Central foe- the Cincinnati Reds in a weekend series here in Houston. In inner-forum speak, this is JohnBM01 and my Astros vs. Dolph Drago and his Cincinnati Reds.

Congratulations to Wednesday's other winners, including a dominating blowout by the New York Mets hosting the Pittsburgh Pirates. Congratulations also to Ichiro on 4,257 hits in pro baseball.

[UPDATE] Wrong sport! I knew it was going to happen someday that I screw up the wrong sport! PIRATES... not Penguins.

@JohnBM01, you didn't sleep enough did you?

Changes made to the previous post! Mega monkeyshine on my part. Good thing the Astros aren't playing today or tonight...

YES I meant the Astros in a recent post. Now to some serious business.

* No-no... almost. The Texas Rangers had a Perfect Game broken up, then had a No-Hitter broken up. The Texas Rangers still won 5-1 at the Oakland Athletics. Colby Lewis was the man who was dealing for Texas, and he ended up getting the win though I'm sure he'd love to complete the No Hitter. Still- a win is a win... which I can unfortunately say for OAK's loser, Daniel Mengden.

* Is it rock bottom if you lose to the 2016 Atlanta Braves? Well, the Braves won 7-2 today against the visiting Cincinnati Reds. The Astros' next opponent will be the Cincinnati Reds, so I'm sure the Reds will try to get back to winning form when they come on down to H-Town for the weekend. Matt Wisler picked up the win for ATL while Dan Straily was CIN's loser.

* In Tampa Bay, it was a 6-4 final as the Seattle Mariners sank the Tampa Bay Rays. That has to be a long flight to go from Seattle to Tampa Bay (or Tampa Bay to Seattle)! It would have been longer if it was Seattle at Miami. Anyhow, James Paxson was SEA's winner as former Miami Marlin(?) Steve Cishek got the Save for SEA. For TB, Blake Snell took the loss.

Congratulations to all other winners from Thursday up to and beyond the time of this post. And once again, my greatest apologies for screwing up big time with my previous post.

I'm just really happy that the Reds didn't sweep the Braves. One of my best friends is a huge Reds fan and she would have definitely got me back for all the bragging I used to do when the Braves were a good team.

Nice to see that the AL Central is still wide open at this point of the season. I still don't know what the hell happened to the White Sox because of how they spectacularly choked away the huge blowout on the division they had earlier this season.
