Didn't have the credits to get the Plymouth.

*Struggled to keep it pointed the right direction. No really clean lap.
Put comfort mediums on the front with comfort soft on the back did 1:03.090
on first timed lap. This trick with tires makes the car driveable but not necessarily faster. Apriori, it isn't any faster since your not gaining any grip, the back end will still come around at the same cornering speed. You can just control it. The front will push also rather than stick, thus you drift rather than spin.

Finished testing the big mixed class list last night, only to check today and see it had grown by another dozen cars. :|

Anyhoo, here's my results for the various sub-lists thus far.

Suggestions for the 'Legends' list:

1:07.292 -- Lotus Elise '96
1:10.619 -- Mazda SAVANNA RX-7 GT-Limited (FC) '85

The RX-7 because rotary, and the Elise because apparently someone filled the tank with rainbows and unicorn farts; seriously, that car is made of magic. On that final sweeper at Tsukuba I could easily keep my minimum speed at 80mph or a titch over, whereas nothing else could do better than 75 (most were 69-72ish). Including it would make the RS200 less of an outlier, as well.

Alternatively one might include the Mazda éfini RX-7 Type R (FD) '91 (1:07.759) instead of the '85 RX-7, as it would put a fast but tricky car on the list -- while the Elise and the RS200 are simplicity itself to drive for even mediocre drivers like myself, the '91 RX-7 is a handful indeed (for me at least). Looped it rather more often than I'd care to admit.

Other notes:
The WiLL is a piggy piggy pig pig pig.
My Stratos time is quite a bit below the car's potential.

Notes:
The Focus RS '02... no FF has any business being that quick, especially around Tsukuba. One of the best handling FFs I've driven yet. Good candidate for the Hot Hatches list.
The S2000 might perhaps be a candidate for the Legends list? Lovely, lovely car.
The AE86 Shuichi Shigeno Sprinter wants to kill me. 8 laps to get three clean ones. It's capable of more speed, but I erred towards timidity for the sake of smoothness.

That's enough testing for a while. The game now thinks Tsukuba is my favourite track... :odd:

Amar, you don't need to do all of this in such a short period of time. We still need others to test these cars and I may not be testing new ones for awhile for a fear of running out of credits. :ill:

Didn't have the credits to get the Plymouth.
You know htat's a prize car for that goodwood event stuff, right?
And that pays credits too - so it's a win/win.

Tip, make sure your TC is off after loading each goodwood. It doesn't remember it for each one.

Amar, you don't need to do all of this in such a short period of time. We still need others to test these cars and I may not be testing new ones for awhile for a fear of running out of credits. :ill:
Don't discourage him!
Maybe he'll be busy when you finally get around to it anyway.

I thought everyone has to have the same tires both on front and on back?
Generally the tire restriction is "x tires or LESS"...
In some situations I would want to enforce an all-tires thing... depending on the kind of event.
But in this case, I don't see why not.

I honestly don't know if it helps. I have tried that. And I used to do the different tires thing in GT4 all the time. But sometimes it seems like I'm just either trading one problem for another... or just adding another problem on top of another.
It's definitely not going to give you a speed advantage to put mediums on the fronts. BUT, it may cut down on you spinning out & ruining someone else's race, so if you find the car more enjoyable to drive & easier to handle that way, I say go for it.

I'm kind of the type of person who doesn't even adjust the brake balance.
But I think I really need to think about doing that in the Skyline Coupe in the low power list and also the the C63 in the Luxury list. Because my braking has been especially bad in those cars. :ouch:
Sort of like I would run abs off - in an ideal situation.
BUT, I use ABS @1 because I think it's more considerate considering I'm not an expert driver and am sometimes too sloppy as it is with it on. :guilty:

Finished testing the big mixed class list last night, only to check today and see it had grown by another dozen cars. :|
ha ha
:guilty:

Yeah don't worry about any that have newly been added if they're not on 1 of hte 3 lists being tested yet. i wasn't trying to pressure you.

1:07.292 -- Lotus Elise '96
1:10.619 -- Mazda SAVANNA RX-7 GT-Limited (FC) '85
 I originally had those on the legends list.
Maybe we'll add them back then.

The RX-7 because rotary

👍 :)

The WiLL is a piggy piggy pig pig pig.
It is, isn't it?
It was always the bummer in GT5 shuffle. LOL
I kind of added it to the list as a lark because of that.

Not to divert things too far off track, but I actually tested the Muscle Cars at Tsukuba (I tested with SH tires, which I thought was too grippy conceptually but they weren't too bad). I was curious if anything could be done with them. I found that there was about 2.5 seconds variation between the fastest and slowest which is probably not enough to make it into an event. I even made a proposed race track list of (at least mostly) appropriate venues.

I also made prototype lists based on the cars @watermelonpunch hates. :mischievous: Although I cut down the Japanese AWD machines and substituted RWD machines where I could. I'm struggling on one aspect though... the classification. I could make 2 lists (I know, you'd rather not!) of 90s Sports, and 00's Sports of course. The only reason for amalgamating the list into one would be something like "Japan vs. Europe(Germany) vs. America: Modern Sports"

I wanted your (or others) input in terms of how to organize the lists first, that's all. I have it organized by year range now.

I'll post the Muscle Car data tomorrow for record-keeping (and probably the other lists too).

For fun and for the credits I've gone back to Cape Ring Inside track (GT Compact Car, Race # 2, National B Series, 3-lap race) and ran all of the LEGENDS cars that I could. Below are the total race times for the 3-lap race:

3:07.577 -- Ford RS200 '84 = GTsail9
3:12.624 -- Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 '85 = GTsail9
3:14.922 -- Mini Cooper S '11 = GTsail9
3:15.466 -- Ford Focus ST170 '03 = GTsail9
3:16.490 -- Mini Cooper Countryman '11 = GTsail9
3:16.711 -- Lancia Stratos '73 = GTsail9
3:16.750 -- Dome ZERO '78 = GTsail9
3:18.866 -- Alpine A110 1600S '73 = GTsail9
3:19.292 -- Toyota 2000GT '67 = GTsail9
3:19.784 -- Renault 5 Turbo '80 = GTsail9
3:20.834 -- Lancia DELTA HF Integrale Evo '91 = GTsail9
3:22.959 -- Mazda MX-5 Miata (NA) '89 = GTsail9

The Ford RS200 is very strong! The rest of the cars are decently spread-out. I'm surprised that the Mazda Miata came in last. It felt ok while running it, and its handling seemed decent, I guess it just needs more horsepower (if I get a chance, I might run it another time just to be sure I got the most out of it). The Toyota 2000GT needs more horsepower as well, but since its such a wonderful car it still holds its own against the field. The Lancia Delta Integrale is a decent car, but it just has too much understeer and it scrubs its front tires like crazy all race long!

0:00.000 -- Jaguar E-Type Coupe '61 = GTsail9
0:00.000 -- Nissan SILVIA 240RS (S110) '83 = GTsail9
0:00.000 -- DMC DeLorean S2 '04 = GTsail9
0:00.000 -- Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé '54 = GTsail9
0:00.000 -- Audi quattro '82 = GTsail9

The last five Legends cars are too long to fit into this Compact Series race:(

See you inside!

Well, you know, I have a lot going on at once... juggling, and it's hard to really say without actually seeing a list of cars.

Kind of like daddyo & his hot hatch idea. I made a hot hatch list.
But only after I found that I had a bunch of hot hatches to work with, and several that were actually decent.

So I tend to file these ideas for later when other things clear out of the way.

So...

I guess I'm still on the fence about the SILVIA, Ghia (until we get more times), and the DELTA.

But I think yeah we should cut the RS200

Well, you know, I have a lot going on at once... juggling, and it's hard to really say without actually seeing a list of cars.

Kind of like daddyo & his hot hatch idea. I made a hot hatch list.
But only after I found that I had a bunch of hot hatches to work with, and several that were actually decent.

So I tend to file these ideas for later when other things clear out of the way.

You do, that's true. :embarrassed: I like starting with an idea...and finding a classification. Finding the cars was easy in this case, but sometimes it can be difficult. Not as many cars as you think there are! :P

I guess you could say it's "Japan vs. The World". As I said, I liked the 90s list more, however there are some great cars on the '00 list if I cleaned it up some.

Obviously it's not just me who "liked" the idea of...well one of the things I suggested since a couple people "liked" my post. I don't know which though.

I like the "Legends" list. An interesting mix of cars. The Ghia is a weird choice, but if it works, I liked how it drove, if I remember correctly.

Legends / Handlebar (Cut & Pasted from CC570's list)

@ Suzuka East - I would have chosen other, but I forgot to check where everyone had run until I finished.

Well, just remember... people all like it NOW.

But I know people. :nervous:

Just like so many people couldn't wait for the Luxury line-up.
Now I've had a few people privately tell me that they probably will skip the Luxury events. :(

In other words, people love the IDEA of some cars... from running fast & loose in them in single player or because they seem cool... Then they see what they're in for in an online race with other real people in similar cars... and then it's "not so much".

The more power to the ground & the more planted the cars (like 4wd performance cars for example), the bigger the spread needs to be to even the competition between the fastest & slowest drivers... and then that makes a recipe for slower drivers feeling they need to make riskier moves to keep up, and the fastest drivers feeling they need to make riskier moves in slower cars to keep up.
:ouch: :scared:

I see your point and not everything is going to be everyone's cup of tea. We probably will need some more practice. Aren't these the fastest cars you've ever had us use @watermelonpunch?

Welll I've been running some of the cars through National B Clubman Cup ...
Silverstone National & Autumn Ring.
with 200% daily log in bonus, I was getting $16,000 I think for winning.
More I think with the Autumn Ring one - but I had to stop because I suddenly felt ill.
Anyway, I think it's pretty telling about the cars. And I guess you can make a quarter million credits from running about 15 cars through one of those. Not bad.

LEGENDS LIST

Okay so I'm thinking of cutting the Plymouth & SILVIA

And thinking about adding:

Toyota SPRINTER TRUENO GT-APEX (AE86) '83

Problem _ i haven't tested it yet. So maybe it won't fit in.

Or the new one ...
Toyota SPRINTER TRUENO GT-APEX (AE86 Shuichi Shigeno Version) '00
Probably fit in beter

There's gotta be a better place to earn money
Well there's tons of better way to get credits I'm sure.
This way though you're able to test all the cars, at the same time, which is the point.

Oh and doing some International Clubman cup race would probably earn more money but
A) they are longer races needing more time devoted
B) I'm not sure they'll work out to be more credits per time investment because you probably wont' win them with any of the cars we're testing.

Perhaps, but these cars are not higher performing than the "Luxury" cars. I think they definitely handle better than those 2000kg porkers. I'd like to think people could handle the 90s list well.

I think people need a bit more time in the Luxury cars anyway, you have to deliberate.

As for money...well. Do the Red Bull Junior events if you need cash, but that doesn't let you drive the cars you want...

The whole list of hot hatches is only 625,970 cr altogether.

I think better handling cars with some power will just make for more risky maneuvers. :scared:

I don't know, people always have complained about online racing with 4wd performance cars.
And esp in shuffle races. You'd have people saying "He was driving all over the road in that lancer 4wd & you can't beat them"... yadda yadda
