I'm not sure I agree with that. I know you really don't want to run them (:sly:) but I think that the fact that they handle better gives people more control, not less. They're also slower, and brake much much better.. Slower plus more control sounds better to me.

And you just have to properly balance them...it is a shuffle race after all. The 90s AWD machines are not quite as dominant as some of the more modern variants too. And driving all over the road won't be tolerated anyway. :P

Okay so I'm thinking of cutting the Plymouth & SILVIA

And thinking about adding:

Toyota SPRINTER TRUENO GT-APEX (AE86) '83

Problem _ i haven't tested it yet. So maybe it won't fit in.

Or the new one ...
Toyota SPRINTER TRUENO GT-APEX (AE86 Shuichi Shigeno Version) '00
Probably fit in beter

Melon -
Are you trying to find a faster car or a slower car?

The Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-Apex AE86 '00 car is pretty fast (its light and has a decent amount of horsepower).

There's a Toyota Spinter Trueno BZ-R '98 that's slower. Its FF though.

Also to consider would be the Nissan 300ZX '83. I think one of the Z's might fit into the Legends list.

Another slower Nissan to consider is the Skyline Turbo RS '83.

You think the 83 Sprinter Trueno is too slow?

I was peeping that Skyline 83. I kind of like it actually. (And I'm NOT a big fan of Skylines, so that says something.)

Maybe he'll be busy when you finally get around to it anyway.

👍 Exactly, I had the time and inclination; I may not have time in the near future to do more than the online races (and practice for them) plus a little bit of grinding.

Also, some other suggestions for testing/practicing with cars on the Luxury List (credits assume 200% bonus).

Any car on the list:
National A: Gornergrat League
#2 Matterhorn Riffelsee, ~4:30, 35,200 cr.
#3 Matterhorn Dristelen, ~4:00, 36,360 cr.
Really easy wins thanks to the 'let me slow down 8 seconds on the last lap and let you win' opposition.

European Luxury (i.e. most of the list):
International B: Tour of Europe
#1, Brands Hatch, ~6:45, 86,200 cr.

American Luxury:
International B, Tour of America
#1, Big Willow, ~6:00, 89,200 cr.
#2, Laguna Seca, ~6:45, 90,600 cr.
All quite easy.

If you fancy something resembling an actual race, the faster ones stand a chance in International A: World Circuits. For example, I won at race #2, Brands Hatch, in ~8:15 with the IS F, for 144,600 credits. (With a huge off [but not a spin] at Paddock Hill Bend -- though offs don't necessarily hurt much, since they usually trigger the 'AI' to go into slow-down mode.) Second place is only 94,000 credits, though, so the other races I mention are much safer R.O.I.s timewise.

@amarynceos
Thank you!!
I'm going to post that in the race thread because I think it could be of interest to peeps who don't make it over here.

I'm not sure I agree with that. I know you really don't want to run them (:sly:) but I think that the fact that they handle better gives people more control, not less.
yes, and the more already adept someone is at that control, they get even better advantage.
It's like better tires - only the best drivers can get the most out of them anyway. :indiff:

I kind of take the opposite view...that if others were able to retain control then they would be more able to race! In the luxury events, I think that higher skill drivers do have an advantage - some cars are difficult to control. And they are heavy, making braking and turning sometimes more challenging. I think you can see that from the results. The Low Powered and Vintage cars allowed everyone to race together because the cars were easier to control. With everyone able to control their cars, we could race and have a mixed up field. I do honestly think that the 90s list does have that possibility. I'm not crazy!

I think the lower the grip, the more the people have better control have an advantage as well. I suppose they also feel more confident to take advantage of the increased grip too. There is a sweet spot though.

TRAFFIC list

Comfort Soft Tires

0:00.000 -- Seat Ibiza Cupra '04 = 24,980 cr
0:00.000 -- Mini COOPER S '07 = 29,500 cr

0:00.000 -- Abarth Grande Punto '09 = 27,000 cr

less than 900,000 cr. altogether
And I think (not sure) but I think most of these come on comfort softs - so it won't involve buying a lot of tires

Also peeps who have been involved with this since last month, will have 6 of these cars because they were on the original "Commuter" list. So for those people, the cost to buy the cars will run under 800,000 cr altogether

(the land rover is the big ticket car in this line up - but it was so funny in GT5 shuffle, I really wanted to include some of the more kooky cars that can be in "traffic")

I've run most of the TRAFFIC list at the Clubman Cup race at the Autumn Ring (National B series).

My results for the 2-lap race:

0:00.000 -- Seat Ibiza Cupra '04 = 24,980 cr

The cars are a decent group, and I got a reasonable spread from slow to fast. I haven't yet run the trucks because I'm using them for some work out on the back forty (acres).:) Once I unload some tree-stumps and give the trucks a wash, I'll take them to the Autumn Ring and give them a chance to squash the AI.:):D

The Toyota Celica is an interesting car to drive. It has a little too much "push/understeer" going into the corners as compared to the rest of the cars. It could use just a tad more tire and then it would be comparable. Maybe another half-inch wider front-tire and then it would match the rest of the cars.💡 Also, its power delivery is interesting. It has reasonable grunt/torque as the revs build, but then just before the red-line the torque comes on strong and you get a bit of a surge just before you need to shift. Its pretty interesting. Its like a very small turbo is kicking in.:)

See you on the Ring!

That Celica is my real life car, more or less. Well, mine is 2 years older, but it seems essentially the same in looks & characteristics. And my real life car is an automatic transmission.
But pretty much everything you describe is pretty much what my real life car is like.
For example, on the highway when I want to pass, I can have trouble bringing up the speed to make the pass, and then it'll suddenly really kick in & whoosh... and then shift up & level out! :boggled:
I actually at first thought there was something wrong with the car! but it's just like that.
And then another example is the right turn up a hill into my neighborhood from the main road.. it's not a sharp turn, but I find that I have to slow rather a lot more than my husband does in his car (2000 MX-5), and then have a bit more annoyingness at first going up the hill. I sometimes take the longer way - where the turn into my neighborhood is a bit farther, but once I've made the turn I don't have to go uphill for a few blocks and not right after a turn...

Anyway, it's peculiar.
But I get a lot of compliments on my old car that's barely hanging together from my point of view! Lots of people admire the body style. I have to admit, the front end with those circular lights are pretty attractive.

Oh, and I guess now it's obvious why I've included the car in the "traffic" list.
For me, it's real life example of traffic! :sly:

I'm impressed. Me who has never actually driven a car before would t know because a) I don't have a license and b) I don't have a car much less a car that's in gran turismo.

The only thing i've driven that is in GT is a Yaris.. and that was like one time so can't really compare.. cool to have your own car in GT :)

I am starting to look for my "fun car" as a midlife-crisis/kids-old-enough-I-can-play-again toy.

Once the garage is cleaned out, I will let you know what I end up buying. ;)

Looking at things from a nice TR6, MG, S2000, Miata, Caterham, and Factory Five. For fun driving, maybe some autocrossing, and hopefully eventually racing with SCCA or NASA.

Scroll down until you see yellow.
25k (pounds not dollars)

I love the old Ginettas and their brethren, but I do not see many of them in range (usually distance)

The real trick would be to find a Coventry Climax* engine to put in it.

* Is this the coolest name for a engine maker. or what?

Oh funny thing about the Yaris...
I never drove one. But many of the things about it in the game... my sister said the same things about it when she got one as a rental when she came to visit me a couple of years ago.
And as it happened, while she was staying with us, it was parked by our house when the Google Maps photographers made their pass through our neighborhood. So now if you look up my address & look at the street, you can see the Yaris with our Celica & Miata.

Nice house! If it is the one on the left that is.. the "house" on the right isn't as nice maybe. by the way how do you tow the caravan with the miata or the celica? ;)

Had no idea Yaris was made in a sedan version.. probably mostly in america.. you guys like your sedans. My grandfathers yaris looked like this:

And that Ford Galaxy is what I've been driving mostly :P

(and this is just a little off topic.. )

I've run the rest of the TRAFFIC list at the Clubman Cup race at the Autumn Ring (National B series).

The trucks hold their own against the rest of the TRAFFIC field:) The Toyota Tacoma could use some ballast in the rear-bed to reduce wheel-spin. Its pretty easy to light-up the Tacoma's rear tires when accelerating out of low-speed corners.

See you on the Ring!

That place with the trees looks lovely!!
I guess I always think of Europe as being very village-like... and not so much the woodsy like Pennsylvania. But that looks very woodsy with tall trees.
(I think it's because one sees a lot of pictures of Western Europe (not Scandanavia)... with rolling hills where there are few trees only concentrated on steep hills, because of so many centuries of humans working the land. So it's mostly pastures & prairies with villages.)

When my sister first said "I got the economy car and they gave me this Yaris that's small, uncomfortable, and handles oddly"... and I looked - I was confused because it was not the same as the Yaris in GT5. But yeah, it's a sedan with a trunk rather than a hatchback. (A different version but apparently very the same in basic essentials. lol)

http://www.netcarshow.com/toyota/2009-yaris_sedan/1600x1200/wallpaper_05.htm

I think it's funny that this picture is supposed to be wallpaper... Like you want that as your desktop image.

Anyway... more off topic...
Yes, we live in a small house - by American standards. But not so small as that camper (caravan).
That's not our caravan.
What you see in the picture is not really our driveway, it's really the city street, but the street ends there. So "across the street" (on the right side of the paved area) is the neighbor's yard... a retired elder widow, and her son (who lives elsewhere) has his caravan parked there forever. And people come to look at it to buy it, but nobody ever does.
