guys what the hell? Lighten up, stunt area will be so much fun, especially if damage is as good as it's starting to look from the latest videos.

@Phosphor: I've driven a go-kart at Wisconsin Dells awhile back...they were fun...especially when you spin out your family on purpose.:mischievous:

-> I can see this track coming back soon:

^ If this is true...OH JOY!!!! :dopey:

Stunt arena. Wow can't wait to launch a robin reliant to the moon and send a mini on a downhill ski jump. Lol

Nag I jest, good to have some positive news round here. Karting will be good.

Track editor doesn't excite me really. If the tracks in ModNation are anything to go by, it'll just be a pile of tracks that people have spent 5 minutes making and not even bothered to drive around to make sure they're not full of cock ups or even fun to drive.

YEah dude, but you can't really compare the GT crowd to the ModNation RAcer crowd... There are literally millions of people around the world salivating over the release of GT5. Modnation was cool, but in the end it will just be a game. GT is part of car culture!!

I can't belive this dreams of karting in gt5 have come true. Give me screenshots, I want to see what types of kart they are and slobber over them in their hi def glory.l :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I was waiting for your reaction  Best day ever for Ibsf1? :)

For all of the doubeters, IT'S Shuhei Yoshida! Executive producer for Gran Turismo. He is in the know, and it's HIGHLY DOUBTFUL he would give out false information. He is not just some random SONY employee talking about GT5.

Honestly at this point my trust level of any info pertaining to GT is pretty low... just sayin.

This is fantastic news! I've been wanting a track editor for ages, it will be a great addition to the GT series. To the doubters... yes, there will be loads of crap tracks, BUT, there will be excellent, magnificent tracks that people have spent ages carefully crafting. The good will far outweigh the bad.

Also, weather is here. I can't wait to start speeding through the rain at dawn.

Great news!

I think go-karting is very plausible, sounds awesome!

I disaggree about track editor and stunt arenas not fitting the game, because the Gran Turismo series is constantly evolving and the more features it has, the better. Well, at least that's my opinion. If it has a feature I don't like, I simply wont use it :).

I guess that is true. At this point most people wouldn't even believe Kaz himself. Oh well, I guess we'll find out on November 2nd.

I think think, if that were true, the Comic Book Guy would pop up and go, "Worst. Track Editor. Ever."

Yeah, I certainly hope we got get some lameness like that. If that were true, no one would ever use it but to create drift tracks.

I think the "share" part of that should indicate that it's a bit more than "moving cones around"

To tell the truth personally I think that a full-blown track creator/editor would feel absolutely out of place in Gran Turismo. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but being able to have complete control over the scenery and the track layout feels arcadey to me.

On the other hand, having a complex test track able to be configured would be more fitting for the game. It wouldn't also have to necessarily suck, as several tens or even close to a hundred of kilometers of drivable test track could be included. There are several real-life examples of such tracks.

One I know is the Alfa Romeo test track Balocco (http://www.trackpedia.com/wiki/Circuito_di_Balocco). The GT counterpart could obviously be more complex (I imagine it could be made inside the Test Course loop. That would allow for a very large amount of drivable roads).

There also are technical reasons (graphics optimizations, etc) why a fixed track with a user configurable layout would be better for a racing game like Gran Turismo.

Again, this is only my speculation, but also hope.
I don't want to see a ModNation Gran Turismo.

A lot of the tracks in the past were kinda "arcadey", if there's a full blown track editor and you have full controls over realistic settings, I don't see why it wouldn't fit. And you don't have to race on tracks you don't like.

Really? Moving cones around would feel more in-place than a full-fledged track editor? I think, if you're going to have that, you might as well not have a track editor. I mean, I guess you could included the ability to do something like that in a full track editor, but JUST that would seem rather pointless. I know I wouldn't use it if it was like that. But, I can see the where the ability to create custom tracks would be awesome. And I'm sure you good have a way to make sure people don't create anything too crazy. But I just hope you'd have the ability to make bridges and maybe overlap tracks.

Last I heard that PD is possibly experimenting with the Move but I don't think it's confirmed that it will be a compatible peripheral for GT5 (to my knowledge).

So, I'm guessing the beginning of this trailer shows the new stunt arena?

Go Karting as in something like Mario Kart??
What?!
I thought this was about racing cars and stunt tracks, what?!
But who cares as long as it doesn't make the gaming experience crap.
Maybe they should have made more premium models, maybe...

I don't know. But it did show Grand Valley and another windy, uphill course, that I couldn't identify (maybe the tarmac section of Pikes Peak or another Hill Climb course?) among Madrid and others.

But, Kaz did mention in an interview a while back about maybe including "Gran Turismo for Boys" in GT5. Maybe the Stunt arenas and go-karting are part of that...along with the track editor. (which would mean it's more classic track-editor with turns and straights.

Yes. There are several real life test tracks examples that work like that (almost) and allow a large variety of layouts to allow driving in the most diverse conditions.

I think, if you're going to have that, you might as well not have a track editor. The problem I have with this, other than hordes of people coming out with dumb layouts, is that the GT series has always been about the driver and his cars in a semi-realistic setting (pseudo-realistic modifications, fixed tracks, real life or semi-realistic locations, etc). The ability to choose a scenery, and completely altering the ground and the track at user's wish kind of ruins the "magic" for me. It would be like putting in a "car creator" where you choose your engine, a generic body (with some extents of customization, but not related to any real car model), transmission, etc, à la Ridge Racer or similar games. This too would "break the game" for me, if you get what I mean.
