I must say I'm amazed there's not a thread on this game yet. So here it is! The (un)Official MGS3 Thread! :)

I picked this one up today from my local Gamestop. Didn't even look for it yesterday, but they had plenty of copies piled up behind the counter this morning.

I also picked up Katamari Damacy, so don't blame me for not having any MGS3 info just yet.. hehe.

So has anyone else gotten the game? Thoughts? Impressions? Opinions? Chat away!

When is it being released in England?

Beats the hell out of me.. you're probably more familiar with UK game sites than I am. The UK Playstation site just says "Q4 2004", AmazonUK says July '05. Aside from that, no clue.

I just hate being in the dark when it comes to these things. Anyways post some of your early findings from the game on the site. I read a recent review on IGN and it left me very anxious as to when it's gonna be here.

That sucks.. do you have any other local stores to get it? Best Buy, Gamestop? Or did you pre-order it from EB?

Either way, just give 'em a smack upside the head and make sure they know how much money they lost by not having the game out on time, and how many customers went elsewhere to a store that had it. :)

MGS3 for the UK? Last I heard was March. Most sites in the UK say March.
If it IS out on July 29th then that is really taking the piss! However Amazon are usually wrong.
It seems there is no official date.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

I didnt pick up my copy of Snake Eater yet because I already know someone who will be giving it to me for a Christmas present! :embarrassed: While I wait for Christmas, I have been playing Metal Gear Solid 2 and Twin Snakes to kil down time. I love Twin Snakes the best so far! :embarrassed: 👍 I wonder if Snake Eater would be better. :odd: :embarrassed:

I might get it on import. But does anybody know if it is a dual layer DVD-9 game? I don't think my Swap Magic will work with it if it is.

I just got my copy of Snake Eater today. I cancelled my GT4 preorder, since the delay and complete lack of online capability left me with very little use for it (I will likely get GT4 when I can get it used for about $30 at EB).

I'll start playing Snake Eater after I finish HL2 (which is actually letting me down in some aspects; I thought there wouldn't be anymore jumping puzzles! Valve lied!)

I finally got my copy today, after calling GD Wal*Suck about a dozen times in the past three days. They advertised they'll have the game on Wednesday, a by Friday they still didn't have it.

Oh well, it was worth the wate after picking it up at a place that only sells games. I should've went there in the damn first place. Well, now I know.

I'm already at the caves, which doesn't seem to be that far in the game, but it was quite a distance getting there. This game seems huge compared to the other two games. Oh, the caves are spectacular. They really took my breath away. The first part is huge with a lot of... well, you'll see.

I've complete a couple of stages and I haven't killed a single person yet. I don't know why; but I haven't. Maybe my sons watching me has something to do with it. I dunno.

I started on the easiest level because it gives you this cool laser-sighted tranq pistol that the other levels don't give you. I've been using it the entire game. You might want to think about selecting the easiest level when you start your game.

Oh yeah, you have to answer a question before starting the game. It asks what was your favorite game with three possible answers. Answer MGS2 for a... OK, I wont say anything more.

Well, to avoid any confusion, I just told the game it was my first time playing MGS.. hehe.

There is, however, an interesting mask in my camoflage settings, that looks somewhat familiar....

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

...... That Frosted Snakes cereal just made me laugh! I just can't imagine Snake doing something like thaT! :embarrassed:

that game is awesome, eventhough there is some cheeziness in the story line, but other than that this game is perfect. now regarding the caves, where are they if some one can tell me.
and guys watch out for green frogs, look at the top of the bridge and you will know what i mean. and guys this only the beginning. all i can say for now, James Bond Introduction.
Very Nice MOVIEG, that's what it should be called; it's a MOVIE-GAME.

Yeah, there are green plastic toy frogs in each level. It's what Kojima likes to do. Did you shoot one?

I love all the different kinds of animals you can shoot. From the several kinds of fish, crabs and snakes, to the odd weird stuff like Japanese flying squirrels, mountain goats and glowing mushrooms that regenerate your batteries. Oh, I keep hearing squirrels in the trees, but I can never spot one to shoot.

I chose "I like MGS2"...

LMAO, I bet there were some guys out there screaming bloody murder! Nice one, Hideo Kojima. :)

Hmmm, "Time Paradox"? Now I know what the hell PSM was talking about in their comic strip at the very end of this month's issue.

I chose "I Like MGS2," and had myself a good chuckle :)

I've only just gotten the backpack, even though I've had the game since thursday. It just figures that the day SE came out I had two essays due the next day, plus all of my other homework.

If you liked the other Metal Gear games then you will love Metal Gear Solid 3. The graphics have to be some of the best graphics on any of the PS2 games I have ever playe! Just incredible to the point of distraction. I have found myself just sitting and looking thru the jungle at the detail of each leaf and strand of grass in the game. :dopey:
The gameplay is excellent and so are all the options in the game so far to make you blend in with the environment. The new camo is just amazing. You can blend in so well if you pic the right face camo and the right outfit. There is a gauge that shows how well you are blending in too. I have only played for about an hour or so and the first 20 minutes of that was the intro to the game. The fight for survival is so realistic since your in the jungle. You have to find animals, plants, and other misc items to survive or your stamina will drop and your vision will get blurred. Cant wait to get further into this one. I would say its a must buy if you like the MG series. 👍 👍
*still shocked at the graphics*

I got to the bridge where you can shoot down the bee hive. It took down one soldier but, it didn't take out the others on the bridge, so I'm still figuring out how to do it.

I wish I got the MGS3 demo. I feel like I'm going to slow through the game. When I had the MGS2 demo, I blazed through the first part of the full game, I had every maneuver memorized.

You will. The V Misson is very short compared to the rest of the game. Relax and have fun.

The bee thing should have cleard the other guys. Why yours didn't, I don't know.

If you get stuck on something, don't hesitate to ask. I'm on AIM now, so give it a try when you need to.

Oh, try cutting the ropes to the bridge.

This game is insane...........but there is a big problem. I'm stuck on the first level because I cannot find the way through, can anyone help?

Solid Lifters, THanks for the spoiler warning. I was going to read your thread until I saw "SPoiler" alert. Much appreciated.
Zero,
WHere are you stuck? You say the first level. Can you be more specific and say spoiler if you are past the bee hive that was mentioned in here.
*Slight spoiler about bee hive*
Yes that bee hive should take out both guys but you need to wait until both guys are side by side.
We might need a spoiler thread for this game so I can avoid reading anything I dont want to. :nervous:

I'm in Rassvet in the Snake Eater mission. I hid in the locker in the north eastern room when the soldiers came in. I counted their "Move!" signals and figured out they return to the room every 7 moves and leave the immediate area in 2 moves after they leave the room. I keep getting caught by the pesky sniper up on the roof, it's hard to see his movements.

Anyone got any tips on how to get past the sniper and the patrol?
