Lovely bike - looks like a lot of fun! I think we only get a 125cc version of that bike in this country.

Thanks, Sick! It’s a fun little bike if speed is not what you’re after. They stopped selling it here completely. I got lucky and found one used. Suzuki dealer in my city still has been able to get me any part I needed so I’m good for now.

Does anyone know what happened at the hairpin just after the long straight at the very beginning of the race?

I was so focused on making the turn cleanly that I didn't see what the wreck was about.

I saved the replay but I won't be watching it soon because we ran out the door to head to Disney as soon as the race ended

Because I'm never really in contention, my fun comes in avoiding accidents!

I'm sitting at the drive in themed dinner at Disney, waiting for food, and I notice that the fastest lap times for the top 6 are incredible. And, that is with no tuning!

Impressive, all of you

That said, I regret to inform you that I've asked the FIA to take a sample of the fuel you were using. You better hope there was no funny business! Lol

Ok. Finally back home and I'm watching the replay frame by frame from each individual driver's perspective. I do this as you are all sleeping

Here's what happened:

From position 3, @Napalm_LT gave @AndreasR a love tap. I think he was merely attempting to inspect the rear suspension as he lifted Simbas car. It's nice to see those "on track inspections".

Nico Rosberg contacted Simba's team principal, and he confirmed to Nico that he did ask Napalms pit crew if they would do that spot check inspection, because they feared that something was wrong. Well done Napalm!

You might think that Paul @IfAndOr, from the number 4 position, would run in to the back of Napalm, but he didn't. His driving was pristine.

However, as a "thank you" for introducing him to this group, @WiSchmo ran in to the back of Paul.

Now, you might think it was nefarious but it was nothing like that. Paul and Willie attended a model train convention later that night in a seedy Belgian shop. Willi was overheard telling Paul that he was going so slow he thought his engine had stalled. Thus, he felt he needed a little jumper boost. That's true friendship!

From position six we have @Don Mejillone, who had the best view of the carnage in front of him. He mistook Willi's benevolent action (of attempting to jump start his dear friend, Paul) as a deliberate act of aggression.

What many of us didn't know was that Don and Paul had formed an alliance to help each other on track in the event that either of them was in position to go podium. My sources say that agreement was struck during an "espresso binging" trip to a local cafe before the Race.

So, of course you would expect him to run into the back of Willi because he saw Willi running into the back of his ally, Paul.

An on track Marshall reported that he overheard Don yelling "I will avenge you, Paul". Team Mejillone has so far, been resistant to release in car radio so we cannot confirm that report! But, what can be reported at this moment, is that the on-track Marshall has an excellent reputation with the local villagers.

Fortunately,@slthree is extremely slow and scared to follow too closely. As a rookie driver he saw what unfolded before him and slightly grazed the outside of Don's Car to move from position 7 to position 6. (Of course, it should go without saying that he quickly lost that position). A more skilled driver would have made it around Don without grazing his car.

It was reported by an unnamed Motorsports writer, that three of the veteran drivers: @Sick Cylinder, @John Wells, and @Oldbass47 were given false information on the length of the race. They were told it was to be a 3 hour endurance race and not to push too hard too early. In addition, they were all following team orders to stay back of the pack for the first hour of the race, in order to preserve their tires and fuel consumption.

As a result, these three were not involved in the skirmish.

Now, as you all continue dreaming, I will watch the rest of the race replay.

And, again, thank you very much for including me. My job is fairly serious and this is a wonderful outlet for me. and, it's not just the act of racing online that makes it a great outlet for me. It's the group of people who make it special.

EDIT: Last week, it was Sick, the leader of this group, no less, who moved over to give me room on an overtake.

This week provided another example of why I love this group. This time, it was Don.

If I analyzed the replay correctly, Don passed me cleanly on turn one of the second lap. I took a wider path pushing me off track a little bit, and, unless I'm analyzing it incorrectly, it appeared as if Don slowed down and gave way to let me back on track in front of him.

I don't have enough racing experience to know if I've got that right, but if I do, I want to thank Don, publicly, because that's good form and pure class.

Okay, you must be sick of me by now because I'm sick of myself and this is running long.

I'm out

I braked earlier than ussual, but seams Simba did that evem more earlier so I "kissed" his back. I lifted to wait Simba and he recovered very soon, I guess we lost no more 1-1,5 seconds, because Beach was still there. Sorry if that accident caused problems to others.

It is good to leave room for another driver, it makes the race more exciting for me.
We are driving in a great group, mistakes are sometimes made but I think never intentionally
The position you are fighting for can be just as exciting at the front as at the back of the field, it's just the love for racing !
Nice comment!
Cu next time,
Greetz Don

I couldn't save the race so didn't quite know what had happened in that "on track inspection" moment.

You might think that Paul from the number 4 position, would run in to the back of Napalm, but he didn't. His driving was pristine.
I was thinking "Thank goodness for ABS"!
I always tend to give a little more space on the excitable error prone first lap.

It seems impending hurricanes bring out the
Motorsports writer
in you Sean. Nice and amusing write up. 👍

Well done to @beachboy6658 on his flying qualification time. Shame you lost it early on. (Watching Simba and not the road? ;))

With my landline restored I'm happy to, once again, provide the replays from yesterday's race/stream:

Qualifying: Having not fed my cats in time and being afraid that they would jump in front of the TV in search for food/attention, I start the session 2min late. It's a fast lap, slow lap, kinda thing, having traffic but not wanting to go out for a second time on cold tires (these hard's sure take some time to warm up). A spin puts me directly behind @slthree, who has really picked up his pace in recent races (despite himself denying this to be true ;)), and made me work for the overtake.

Race: Not being able to scratch the time of the top 4 by 0.6–1.2s, I did not expect to improve my starting position during the race. Fortunately, contact on the 1st lap, as already wittily described by @slthree, didn't result in major confusion. Then, I'm a prime position to watch the first 4 battle it out, which they duly did. Thank you guys, watching that was amazing :D Sad to see @beachboy6658 lose it into turn 3 on the 3rd lap, but it did hand me 4th place. What now ensued was a race long game of "catch the @IfAndOr", with Paul being quicker before, and me being faster after the pit stops. Watch us battle it out, when it really got close in the last 5min of the race! Too bad @IfAndOr's car's rear end "went weird" on the penultimate lap and robbed us of a grand finale (us both crashing into each other and spinning helplessly, is what I mean :dopey:).

Watched replay yesterday and yes, I brake far to late, but bump wasn't big. bigger problem (mistake) was to lift right after accident insted of do that after corner. Due to my slowing in the corner multiple "train" accidents happens. Sorry guys.
BTW, it wasn't me but Don tried to look under the Bentley's skirt :D

Mon GT3 Round 6 Red Bull Ring.jpg

Note: the championship has been extended by one round as a result of requests to use the Nordschleife track with the GT3 and Group C cars. We will be using the Nurburgring Combined track (the longest layout) as this includes pits. The old part of the circuit is very narrow so please be extra careful / patient when overtaking.

Note 1 - no car change. Note 2 some changes to car selection have been made.
**************
Road Course Start Procedure - Standing Start, Pole Position car goes first, then start row by row - set off after car in front when safe - stay staggered at half race speed, no overtaking until after first corner

Inspiration video - well worth a watch !!!

Interested in racing at the nurburgring on 09/09, I am new, how do I sign up!?

Paul being quicker before, and me being faster after the pit stops.
Yeah the pitstop always seems to interrupt my flow. Since my concentration goes at about the 20 minute mark maybe I should take it earlier to get it over with. Hmm, might try that tonight.

Due to my slowing in the corner multiple "train" accidents happens. Sorry guys.
These things happen and we know nothing is intentional so all's well.

We will be using the Nurburgring Combined track (the longest layout)
Are you still using a 30 minute race or a set number of laps? Depending on the drivers positions around the circuit it could extend the time. And qualifying?

Hi there @Jack Cozens. Don't worry we were all new at some point. ;)

I thought the same - Nürburgring is a large circuit and may require more than 20 minutes. I remember that my best time at Nordschleife (non-combined) was between 7-8 minutes. That's roughly 2.8 laps. Add the time for a pit stop, combined circuit, unavoidable accidents and we're looking at about 2 laps at max only for the slower drivers. Should we aim for 3?

Think there some of your best ever John!!!
I would like to agree with you, Beach. And, normally I would but I think John was engaging in some clever photo juxtaposition because he somehow managed to catch the 17 Renault on the beach and off track. And, I have no recollection of that so I don't think it really happened:confused:

Obviously, I'm just kidding. John, your work is terrific and I'll be staring at those pictures all day tomorrow

I am so glad that Paul changed his car because this new one is so nice to look at.
