Motorstorm PS3 - Mega Thread

I'm still mystified why people think the 2005 trailer is so good.

The physics are sucky. It isn't realistic or fluid.

The framerate is a choppy 20fps or less.

Graphics over gameplay = the meh. Just look at Gears of Wah.

Are you trying to say the actual game isn't fluid, and that it's framerate is choppy, or are you speaking about the 2005 trailer only?

I played MotorStorm at a Wal-Mart on Saturday. For the first time, I won a race. I won with a buggy in "All-Terrain Violence" or whatever it's called. I still have yet to win with the cars and trucks. The subtitle to this thread is "Not Even Close to What we Expected." Is this meant in the respect of "MotorStorm" has a much better full game than the demo, or "MotorStorm" has a horrible full game compared to the demo?

I think the subtilte meant the graphics sucked comapred to the E3 2005 demo, and dont measure up to the hype.

While Motorstorm does look awesome, remember that everyone will compare it to that demo. That demo, no matter how unrealistic it looked, it will always hangover the cuurent look of the game till its release when people will gradually forget about it.

Personally the game looks really good (havent played it yet) and hopefully the gamplay matches its visuals which what really counts.

The 2005 trailer. I think it looks... eh. Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2 looks better to me. I mean, the world looks crazy cool and all, then you get a close up of the vehicles and it's like a bad CG movie.

And yeah, I fooled around with Gears a little, watched it quite a bit. It's okay, but the big claim to fame are those overdone Unreal engine graphics. Now I know why they complain about the untweaked Unreal engine. But the gameplay is the same stuff over and over.

Truck to an "encounter area." Three or four bad guys pop out and start shooting.

You shoot back, blood splatters everywhere.

You can't use the dopey chainsaw or you get slaughtered.

Clear out the bad guys, truck to the next area with three or four baddies... shoot, splat, repeat. Meh. You 360 guys must be hard up for some serious games.

Online whopping... 4 on 4 battles, wii. :P

:odd: Uh... I take it you never actually played the game. And no, I didn't get it for only the graphics.

Then what did you get it for? It's limited selection of weapons? It's small number of multiplayer maps? Or maybe it's extremely bland multiplayer modes? I'll just go out on a limb and say the FIRST thing that made you even REMOTELY interested in Gears was the visuals. After that, you're left with a game where it's pop and shoot all the way to the end, a few good boss battles, and when it's all said and done, you've played through it 3 times just for achievement points (woop dee doo?) and you're trying to play online, only to figure out it's the same thing over and over again with no variation.

I really want to import this game right now. I can't wait!

 I hear ya!

Only another quarter. I guess we should be thankful that we can play the demo in the comforts of our home. Lot's to be thankful this Christmas, eh? ;)

This christmas GT: HD demo comes out :) Free too.

Plus I'll be playing this, and the full game (with online) comes out in March. I'll have plenty to keep me busy until then :)

The new thread name is much better as well.

You know, I thought Mr Deap was bad.

Whoa buddy, slow down, it was a joke. And since when was being right about something "bad"?

I mean, had I been wrong, that would have been different, but I was poking fun at you, you know, like we had poked fun ages ago before, but since it's me I guess it's different...

Still, fact remains, GT: HD demo will be out on Xmas eve for the world to enjoy, and I'll get to post up some good impressions for everyone.

It's no motorstorm, but hey, what can ya do?

Well, it sounded like you were trolling. And for a joke, I thought it sucked, since no one found it funny (except probably KENJIusa, since he loves it when ducks get pwned, and I can't blame him).

And to be quite honest, I wasn't quite pwned. I said that "They only confirmed it for Japan." Which is correct. Then D-N pointed out that Americans can access Japanese demos, for which I was curious about and asked him how. Then he tells me, and I acknowledge it.

But meh. :indiff:

Wth? I am innocent:irked:

:embarrassed:

Dont import motorstorm. I read the jpn version does not have online multiplayer. Thats going to be nutz with 15 or so people.

I finally played the online demo, it has its pluses and minuses to the store demo. store demo lets you play any car in the race but the online demo runs smoother and faster.

Stunning...simply stunning! I am developing a LOVE-HATE relationship with these new clips that we are finding. I want more but I get irritated that I can't have it.:banghead:

Played the Motorstorm demo at EB today - I thought it was fun. It's got a great sense of speed, and the wrecks are pretty awesome.

It's too bad they don't have it running at 60fps - it would really look great.

this game sounds ace cant wait for it to launch over here in england
and by then it should hopefully be running smooth as they should have time to iron out all the creases (fix any problems if there is any)
