Motorstorm PS3 - Mega Thread

Still waiting laides and gentlemen.

Basically, people are complaining with absolutely NOTHING to show better. If the best out isn't good enough...then what are you REALLY doing playing videogames?

Personally, I think the lighting in this is unmatched on any game for any system right now.

I'm going to take a guess that you haven't played Day of Defeat: Source, or Half-Life 2: Lost Coast. Because, Motorstorm doesn't hold a candle in comparison.

I have to disagree with you toyomatt. Lost coast is indeed a beautiful game, but I really don't think you're going to be seeing any old churches or stained glass windows in the middle of the desert. ;)

Motorstorm delivers an unbelievable glimpse into what racing is going to be on the PS3, and Gran Turismo HD more so. I.E., as good as PC racing.

That doesn't really have much to do with lighting, like toyomatt meant.

Actually, I have, but the lighting in those isn't real time and it doesn't react to things on screen. i.e. when there's an explosion, the lighting doesn't carry over to the rest of the level, we just see the explosion animation and smoke effects. Very pretty, but Motorstorm's lighting is softer, and features a wider range of brights / darks.

Well we know already from KY and pictures that PD is modeling all their cars with individual parts, panels, bumpers, even the fuel lid etc. So it may just turn out quite nice.

Do you have a link to these inferences? I apologize for posting without knowing about this...

great game:tup:

Played today at a local futureshop and was pretty damn fun!

The lighting of the game is nice, the sound is good, only thing I saw was that sometimes the game would run a little choppy or there would be quite a few noticeable glitches...

Overall the game was fun to play:)

It was in one of the few newish interviews with KY but it is buried deep in one of the discussion forums and and having trouble finding it :(

But you can still see the gaps ( not painted gaps)between panels that KY pointed out (as being separately modeled) in many of these pictures

*Still wishing for a title change*

It's just a testament to his loyalty and nothing more. His credibility = down the drain.

Post after having seen real in game footage of collecting mud etc:

CAMARO
omg that looks amazing and the vehicles truly get effected by your ruts!! Absolutely amazing!!! Thank you for the vids!!

And then when he realized that it would never be on his beloved 360, and how the game had progressed significantly since his infamous praise....he decided he had to come in here and bash it.

Which makes me laugh to no end. He is very easily entertained I might add, he believes that Perfect Dark Zero is a good game, so I can say that thread change or not, 90% of the positive posts (from people who have played the game, unlike himself) speak for themselves.

Eh, I'd love to do it, but I'm afraid it will simply get locked / reported very quickly by the legions of folks at the 360 spot (aka CAMARO).

I mean, after all this poking fun at his drastically changed opinions, I can't see him being very civil or fair anymore :(

We were trying to do it by just telling him. but maybe he doesnt even come here until he has something else bad to say about the game.

My theory exactly.

He's in the 360 forum ranting and raving about PDZ and GeOW, so I guess he finally got bored of those games (seeing as how GeOW offers about 3 play throughs max and then the multiplayer has no options).

Finally, when he got bored, he decided he'd come in here since his 360 wasn't getting any exciting off road racing titles, and bash this one, even after he had given the game a great wealth of praise after having seen IN GAME footage, and no whe goes back on his word and say's it looks terrible, lol. I'm going to put together a list of quotes from him, just for fun, to show his immediate change and display of loyalty to his 360.

Quotes from CAMARO after having seen IN GAME footage:

E3 2k6 trailer from inside the cockpit. Very realistic!

omg that looks amazing and the vehicles truly get effected by your ruts!! Absolutely amazing!!! Thank you for the vids!!

I still think it looks amazing and keep in mind all the roots you make in the road effect other drivers.

Very very impressive physics according to that article.

That looks real good. Finally a game that shows some potential for the PS3.

WOW that inside view looks extremely realistic!!

Then this:

This could have been a great game if they had even come close to the original renders.

rofl. Yea, he's no flaming fanboy. I think it's quite obvious that he either a) has decided to change his mind because he is disappointed with his 360 experience aside from the few SHORT games available for it with limited replay, or b) he is sad because he can't find a PS3, or can't afford one, or god knows what.

It's clear, however, that he is covering up his excitement for this title.

He's a flip flopper a cut and runner. :) I had to say it

This game looks very much like it could be a hit if they have a solid multiplayer mode and good downloadable content. Can you imagine Capture the flag with this game?

Capture flag? it could be fun. Imagine you're on a motorcycle and see and big truck with your flag coming your way:yuck:

Shouting "Pull over" is the best thing you could do to stop him.

I think motorstorm could excel online if it featured a "demolition derby" type mode, race modes, and relay races (yenno, point to point back and forth smashing your opponents on the way).

How the hell would capture the flag even work properly?

huge wide open field with two starting grids on each side, flag in the middle. You have to race in and snatch it, and smash into / explode other cars in order to make them drop the flag so your team mates can snag it up.

It'd be really exciting actually.

What do you mean?
Exactly what I mean: "how would capture the flag work in Motorstorm?"

Meh. On paper it sounds exciting but I doubt the "fun" would wear off really soon. :dopey:

Probably similar to 1nsane or Shox:
The player with the flag has his/her horsepower cut in half, but the car handles a little better. All of the other players drive as normally and have to smash into you to get the flag. It really is quite fun when four or more people are playing at the same time, because you have to dodge players coming up from behind and play chicken with those trying to head-on you.

Jax X: Combat Racing has a 'capture the flag' mode. It's awesome and I'm sure it would work just as nice on Motorstorm.
