Motorstorm PS3 - Mega Thread

DWA
I tried it at Target and it looked like PS2 material AT BEST. Nothing like the pre release vids I've seen. I was very dissappointed and I still hope to go it's the game and not the system.

You saw it on those dinky **** 19-inch screens at Target? I would reserve judgement until you witness it in 1080p.

I'm not talking about detail of the picture, I'm talking about the detail they had in the pre-release... lilke mud everywhere or the amazingly detailed crash disintegration of the cars not a Crash day like clone.

Are you serious? First off, you're playing a very old Tokyo Game Show build, and the frame rate, AI, and car pieces have all been improved, significantly.

Secondly, There is no way you can comment on the mud, because the demo is a dry stage, so there's only dust. HOwever, I have yet to see a 360 game display any lighting or physics as much as this game does.

Yet you think the Halo 3 commercial was awesome. CG is lovely I suppose. :dunce:

What ignorant statment? If I cant see my self doing something I cant. Nuff said. I didn't say anything bad about it. You are defending nothing. Again I did not judge anything, search my post not once did I say the Wiimote sux. Waaay too defensive..... Only things thats ridiculous is how quck you are to judge me and take my words out of context.
Well, when you say "broken tvs, broken windows, broken friends" when you're talking about what the Wiimote is designed for, I would consider that ignorant. Not to mention, if you tried the Wiimote, you'd see that the few people with broken TVs are probably swinging it harder than Barry Bonds with a baseball bat.

As for 360's D-pad. XBL Arcade for one.
True.
I'd rather use a d-pad for some of the games. And not evevry game needs 2 analogue sticks.
Show me one retail game (no arcade stuff) where you have to use the D-Pad instead of an analogue stick.

Eidt: Madden Target renders VS real game http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=15383&type=wmv The animation looks to have come from the ps2 version seeing it on a TV the differences are greater.
Thanks for that. That looks like something we should achieve in about 3-4 years. But it's EA, so who knows...
Yes, they effect the handling. i.e. you can't get grip to turn as easily, your car will bounce all over the place, and bikes, oh god to bikes have a field day....it's very very fun and during the 3rd or 4th laps it get's VERY interesting.
Okay, thanks. :) 1up said that stuff didn't happen, but then again they are 1up...

PS2 material? Riiight.

You need your eyes checked.

Motorstorm isn't 1080p capable, unless you're talking about upconverting.

how me one retail game (no arcade stuff) where you have to use the D-Pad instead of an analogue stick.
This is going to be easy:
Gran Turismo 4. Gran Turismo 3. Need For Speed HPII through U2.
Hell, I sucked at Enthusia for nearly 4 months until I got used to the analog sticks. Same with GTA:SA. Just because you find the analog sticks easier to work with does not mean everyone does, which is my main criticism of the 360 controller. If the D-pad was in its proper location, it would be far better in my opinion than the DS2 and SA. As it stands now, it is only even.

Yeah, in my defense the store was my only way of experiencing it and will be for a longggggggg time. I'm going off of what Sony showed me before then and after the release. They didn't deliver anything close to what I felt they were intending and if they improved it that's good because I'll be relived that my... $650 or whatever astronomical price it will cost to play one game isn't wasted.

I have high expectations because this IS an expensive system and it IS Sony, which I've like all though out the GT series. So, please guys lower your fanboyism.

As for Halo, well two things... One if it looks anything like Gears of War, there's no worries. xD Secondly, THEY can't do any worse than Gears of War because their asses are on the line via all the Halo fans like my friend. So, there won't be any half assing that game. :dopey:

Just like there wasn't in the second one, right? Face it, Bungie could crap in a box and release it. The game would still get straight 10's from every magazine, everyone would buy it, and it would still get game of the year

I don't really know what you're talking about because I'm not one of those hardcore Halo fans. My friend loves that series and it is the only reason why he got the xBox in the first place. I've played that game with him on co-op but I much prefer the PC game because of the controls, I don't really give a **** about the graphics on the PC. It's a real fun game on the PC because you're not limited by the xBox's ****ty ass controller. With that said the new 360 controller is soooo much better. That's part of why I'm looking forward to playing Halo 3.

He he..i am also affected by the Halo hype, in fact, I borrowed Halo from my friend and tried it. But after second level, things were clear to me and I happily click "uninstall Halo" to remove the damn thing out of my PC.

Toronado is right though, Halo 3 will sell like hell even if it's still as crappy.

Anyway, enough with Halo, Let's come back to motorstorm.

Why do hardcore 360 peeps feel the need to come in here? We don't invade their weedy turf. ;) At least I don't. Driving While Anesthetized?

Anyway, the demos are what got me interested in Motorstorm, and considering everyone (but 360 boys) say it's even better, I'm more sold than ever.

DWA isn't a hardcore 360 guy (or X360 fanboy). I know him, and the only reason he bought the console was because of Gears. If anything, he's a PC fanboy.

Hmm you didn't reply when i said you are taking my words out of context because you are doing it again. I didn't say the Wiimote was designed for anything. I said "I cant see my self playing for 4-5 hours for what it was designed for". Replace the word Wii with sodomy and maybe you'll get a better idea of what I'm talking about. Also I never said the d-pad was needed for any game just that not all games require 2 analogue sticks. But why are you wasting your time trying to defend the use of a d-pad? All i said was 360's sucks end of story.

The fact that nintendo had to issue a warning about being more careful with the wiimote tells you that they are well aware there are careless people out their who will smack friends and family in the face with Wii motes.

Ooookay...

Sodomy mote: never used it but i cant imagine 4-5 hour gaming sessions using it for whats it was designed for. Sodomy elbow? Broken Tv's, Broken windows? Broken friends?

:odd: *steps back slowly*

If you weren't saying that the Wiimote wasn't designed for "Broken TVs, broken windows, and broken friends", then why were you talking about broken stuff? Seriously. I'm trying to understand what you're talking about, and any help is appreciated.

First, I agree that the D-Pad sucks.

Second, I was defending analogue sticks.

Third, I was wondering why the D-Pad was so important to you.

The fact that nintendo had to issue a warning about being more careful with the wiimote tells you that they are well aware there are careless people out their who will smack friends and family in the face with Wii motes.

It kinda sucks that our world is like that. :indiff:

If anything, he's a PC fanboy.

No doubt, especially after experiencing first hand what it cost to do console gaming (maybe excluding a Wii then again, Wii isn't the same kind of "gaming" as the other two). Cheaper than a PC my ass. xD Wow...

i played this demo at big boys toys 2006 in nz and was blown away by how much better it looks than anything i play on my xbox 360.

ok i dont understand where the hell this thread has gone but it says motorstorm in the title and im gonna add my 2 cents.....

I think it sucks..... it doesnt look anything like the original rendered videos with mud flying everywhere...... now it looks just rubbish... its not 1080p, the cars and in no way super detailed, the paths in the mud the cars make does not look realistic... the way things blow up doesnt look as good as it was sold to us at E3...... basically its like any other racing game..... I really thought it would end up looking like the first vid we ever saw of it.....

I thought rendered videos were a thing of the past... I thought the PS3 was capable of things done in rendered quality... so it would look real! its just developers are lazy and we are gonna get some seriously sub par games... people like PD, Konami and Square Enix on the most part deliver what they promise in terms of graphics where as people like EA just serve up something that is just enough to make it next gen!

Motorstorm is not the worst PS3 game, but its bad!

I bet you $100 had you not seen that video you'd be all peaches and cream about this game.

And have you played it? Like REALLY played it? It's very fun, and very interesting. As for the "mud"...why are you even speaking about it? YOU HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED A LEVEL WITH MUD.

Go watch vids and screens of mud stages, there's plenty of it. Cars don't leave ruts in dry dirt. When was the last time you drove down a dirt road and left deep ruts in the road? OH YEA, NEVER.

And this still looks better than any racing game out, no matter what anyone may want to think.

I played the demo at walmart and it runs slooooooooooooooow. The backgrounds are lacking detail and the ground textures are blurry(ps2 blurry) but everything else looks great. The game would be better if the physics were a bit more realistic and the slow-mo crash scenes gotta go. It's like your first crash and dayum woaaaaah....wow ...look at that .. then second crash scene ... nice .... okay hurry up. I didn't get to play for long because my neck started hurting. Damn walmart for putting the TV like 10 feet up on the shelf.

I bet you $100 had you not seen that video you'd be all peaches and cream about this game.

 no... um... yeah. I'd still think PS2 material at best because it would be pretty much an NFS:U colon only offroad in the mud. Besides the crash affects which Burnout already does on the PS2 what makes it different or next gen!?...? :dopey:

Further more I saw that NBA game people were talking about on the PS3 and yay... whoop de do it keeps a 30fps with all the things going on but two things... 1. It's a basketball game... 2. The PS3 has... yes, a "Cell processor".

All I'm saying is... we're paying $600 for this sucker. Where's the stuff they promised?! Anyway, their last hope I guess would be Resistance but frankly I ain't gonna play it unless it's at a store. Also, after GoW and how much gaming is going to cost with one console I really don't care anymore.

He's talking about the mud he's seen in pictures and videos, and that it looks unrealistic.

he he..so many Motorstorm haters these day, and PS3 haters too, but I ain't give a crap about it. Infact, it's a joy to read all the PS3 bashing, keep up the good work Peter Moore fanboys.

I'm not trying to bash the PS3, I'm simply asking a question and no one has really answered it so it leaves me to believe that you do give a crap and is why you are calling me a fanboy when in fact I will be getting a PS3... in 3 yrs. :dopey:

There's definitely something fishy going on...bipolar Motorsports demos and/or demo-box PS3's, anyone?

There's got to be a reason why everyone thinks it's either craptastic, or the greatest thing since sliced bread.

It's called envy. Most of the people who play it and say it sucks own a 360, plain and simple, and they won't own a PS3. Since the 360's off road arcade racers areeee....no where to be found, and look extremely boring, they find the need to bash this one.

That having been said. The game looks, runs, and plays better than most racing titles on the 360. PGR3 essentially plays like PGR2, and TDU is garbage.

All the NFS title are terrible, no questions asked.

This game, however (minus the ungodly slow motion I can't stand) is much more FUN which is what matters. Imagine playing with 15 other people online, crashing, jumping, and bumping your friends around the tracks going for the big W.

I hate to say it, but the games on 360 right now have poor damage, bland gameplay, and crappy physics. This game is MENT to feel arcade like, and fun, which is pulls off wonderfully. Not to mention the AI is unmatched for racing titles right now.

Ps3 hasn't been out one month yet and people complain about the games. Lets go back to Ps2 the early years shall we? It didn't deliver much of anyhting that was promised and look at it as one of the most successful systems of all time that will keep selling after its predecessor is out. judging a whole console by it early games is a very shallow way of thinking I mean we havent even seen the bulk of the japanese offerings yet.

I tryied the Motorstorm instore demo with the tilt control today. it was a little tough at first but it has a nice learning curve to it but by no way dose it replace the default control. The R2 and L2 feel pretty good but there may be some rubber cap mods out for it and i think it will need it if your fingers get sweaty. I really dig the motion sensing. Imagine God Of War 3 where you have to twist and then rock and then pull up and down to tug a head of a beast. Or push the controller outward then inward to rip out a heart or spine. Hmm starting to sound like mortal Kombat Sixaxis fatalities. Would love to play katamari with it.

Edit. 360 doesnt have a game like Motorstorm yet

Um, that's the demo. There are actually 2 NBA Live titles out for the PS3. The original looks gorgeous to me, better than the X360's even if it does "run at 30FPS." The other one runs 1080i with 60FPS, and that game looks godd*mn beautiful for a game. Even though it's a "special" version, it still looks better than 80% of what MS currently has on its shelves.

I'm also annoyed at all this PS3 bashing. Luckily, I sort of disprove Jeremy's "theory" as I own a X360 and love MotorStorm. The $600 price is the only thing that keeps me from actually buying a PS3 until a bit down the road.

1. Motorstorm doesn't feel arcade at all, it almost feels like a sim believe it or not. If anything, ExciteTruck is an arcade dirt racer.

2. The AI is neither dumb nor great. After I got the hang of playing the game, I was kicking their asses.

3. There hasn't been a game on the X360 trying to have the most impressive crashes and physics ever (Burnout Revenge is a last-gen port with a few minor enhancements). If someone tried, I'm sure it would be possible.

4. I could also say that the PS3 doesn't have any kiddie games or zombie smashers. But that's not stopping devs from making them.

Why, because Peter Moore is the..Master of PS3 bashing, I just want to remind those PS3 bashing people their Master so they can keep up the good work, which is very entertaining for me.:dopey:
