Didn't Hornish win the Indy 500 back when he was in Indycar?

I meant NASCAR. He diffenately is a Indy 500 winner, hell the fashion it happened makes it hard to forget

Don't give up hope yet.

Let's see:

- 42 (well, really 10-15) other drivers that could win.

- Two of those drivers are Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin, who are absolute monsters at this track.

- Jeff Gordon pretty much needs to win if he is going to get into the Chase. Kyle Busch's best track is Richmond (where we are going to next), so I assume he (Busch) will put on another fantastic performance and finish in the top 5 or win. The field is too competitive for Gordon, even if he drives aggressively and has a great car.

- The pressure Gordon is under will affect him negatively. Drivers tend perform badly while under pressure (well, except Stewart, but we've been through that).

Yeah, there are plenty of reasons that Gordon can't win or Busch can't struggle. We will have to wait and see, but if Gordon can win this weekend, it will be a miracle.

Hornish was always a temporary seat in the 22 in my opinion. From the sounds of it, he'll be hopping into the #12 with his sponsors from Nationwide, who have apparently been very happy with him and want to come up to Cup.

I just feel bad for Shell/Pennzoil, who haven't had a single drama-free year since they started sponsoring Penske's cars.

According to NASCAR RACE HUB, nascar is considering bringing the truck series to Canada for a little road racing next year ;)

Hornish should go back to IndyCars,

Allmendinger should go back to IndyCars,

Danica should stay in Nationwide for another season.

I'm gonna make a small guide and prediction for this weekend.

Richmond International Raceway: Race 26/36 - September 8th, 2012

The heat is on with one last race until The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup begins. The drivers in the Top 10 have locked themselves into The Chase, but the Wild Card is yet to be determined. With big name drivers such as Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, and Ryan Newman fighting for the second Wild Card spot, and everything on the line, things are about to get wild.

Key Drivers:

Kyle Busch: Busch has won 4 of the last 7 Cup races at Richmond, and has an average finish of 4.7. Expect Busch to finish in a high position, or more than likely, win.
Denny Hamlin: Hamlin is on a hot streak. Working with crew chief Darian Grubb, Hamlin has won the last two Cup races this season (Bristol, Atlanta), and has multiple wins at RIR. Look for him in the front of the pack.
Jeff Gordon: Missing out on the opportunity to win last weekend at Atlanta, Gordon knows that his only shot to make The Chase is to win this weekend. Promising to go all-out, Gordon should be one to keep an eye on.
Tony Stewart: On the verge of losing his 10th place spot in the chase, Stewart will be defending his points position with all he's got. He's the kind of guy that will not back down from a challenge. Watch out for him this weekend.

Predicted Winner - Denny Hamlin: Following his two consecutive wins, and the fact that Richmond is one of his best tracks, Hamlin has confidence that he can win a third straight race this season. Though a third straight win sounds unlikely in a competitive sport like this, Hamlin is the kind of guy that can pull it off.

Other Contender(s) - Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick: Besides Hamlin, there are multiple other drivers that can contend for the win. One of these drivers is Kyle Busch, arguably the best driver at Richmond. Though he has not performed as well in the Fall Richmond race as he does in the Spring, Busch is a strong contender, and I feel that he can win given Hamlin doesn't.

Kevin Harvick is another contender. Another good driver at Richmond, Harvick is confident after his 5th place finish at Atlanta. Though he has not won a race this season, I always thought that Richmond would be his best shot before The Chase begins. Last year, he won this race. Look for him to run in at least the top 10.

Dark Horse - Jeff Gordon: Jeff Gordon has been performing very impressively as of late. Following a 3rd place finish at Bristol, and a 2nd place finish at Atlanta, and the fact that he knows he needs to win, Gordon is going to drive as hard as he can to win. Despite him not being the best driver at Richmond, not having won here since 2000, there is no doubt that he can do really good, and even contend for the win if he plays his cards right.

So there you have it. My personal guide to this weekend's race at Richmond. People's opinions, thoughts, predictions, etc. differ, so this guide might not be for everyone.

Now the question for SHR is who will replace ARMY and Office Depot. Its probably a no-brainer for Stewart with Mobil 1, but what about Ryan.

This. Everyone is always in a hurry to get certain drivers to the top level. Even when they are definitely NOT ready.

Agreed.

One good argument to this, however, would be to mention Jimmie Johnson. Sure, he had an unsuccessful Busch series career, but look at him when Hendrick put him in the Cup series.

Unsuccessful Busch Series career where his only highlight was cheating death at Watkins Glen. He was in terrible equipment there and just happened to get noticed by Jeff Gordon. There's something about the elite drivers having a knack for spotting talent.

Dale Earnhardt had told Rick Hendrick to sign Jeff Gordon. :sly:

Not big on it, but it does look more like a "stock car".

I wonder what the gibbs cars are going to look like now...The nose on the camry doesn't look bad, but the rest of the body looks like crap.

Speaking of Truex, I found out something amazing today that will involve me meeting him! =D

My father works with a guy whose brother is Truex's crew chief. Since the guy is good friends with my dad, he offered my dad a pit pass for himself and I for the Chicago race next year. Which means, I think I'll be watching the race from Truex's pit box. =D

Have to agree, the back end is hideous. From 1999-2013, it seems like NASCAR cars have only gotten bigger and uglier...a bit like Americans.

Top row of the grand stand, expensive. Pit box seat, priceless.

The thing is though, the camry is Japanese. Also the 2013 cars look smaller to me.

The only thing Japanese on that car still is the name and the badge, thats about it :P

Just like the American cars are American in name and badge only.

Wow, 24 & 78 on the front row? Am I seeing things?

Edit: Nope, Jr to the top!

1) #88
2) #24
3) #78
