2-wide rolling starts have been confirmed so that's one worry out of the way

Only three worries I have left is will there be full course caution flags, can we only change right side tires, and will we have the ability to adjust our car throughout the race, all of which have never been in previous GTs but without either you really can't have an authentic NASCAR experience.

Also asymmetric tuning and being able to check out tire temperature are very important things. I somehow doubt that PD will go that far, but if they don't, NASCAR cars handling won't be correctly recreated/simulated.
I wonder if the cars will use restrictor plates on the fastest ovals, by the way.

I sure hope they do, and also that bump drafting works on those super speedways. It really does not work in prologue with any cars that I've found.

Hope there's a safety car on GT5 if crashes happen. But then they would have to have marshals taking the cars away or they would just disappear after 2 seconds ..

What's the status of this Nascar league that was talked about before, I'm getting more and more excited. I can't wait for drafting practice, this is going to be so sweet.

Seriously I probably wouldn't even need a race. Drafting practice sounds awesome by itself.

Its coming along. We've got something tentative working but its being fine tuned and once more details come, it should be ready.

I would like to be considered for this, if possible. :) I know next to nothing about NASCAR, but I raced Daytona Speedway from zero to 2 million credits in GT5P, so I have plenty of experience racing ovals in the GT franchise. 👍

As RACECAR mentioned its coming along. Whats holding things back a bit is lack of info about final tracks and number of COTs. But progress is being made.

Maybe PD will surprise us with NASCAR specific tunes like wedge or trackbar. I have heard alot of rumblings about tire pressure and tire temps. Latest NASCAR pics show plate style packs so I hope so

First decent NASCAR vid. Car looks tight, his right front would be gone in 15 laps at that pace. Straight line speed is realistic, about 207 mph. 174 mph corner speed is too fast considering the poor line and generic setup, but it may just be he has R3 tires, NASCAR radials are far from ideal slicks

Haha ditto!

When did you race, I might have bumped into you you a few times. :sly: I was active around 2007/08, when the Daytona 700pp pro was the best race in town. I never forgave PD for nerfing it, and they ruined the balance with each subsequent revision of the race. :grumpy:

I used a Tuned Corvette (~384hp/969kg) that blew away the competition. It was underpowered a little on the straights - it only touched ~197mph, but with a high sixth gear, I could draft back into contention without a problem. The car really shined on the corners though, it could hug the banks low, and lost less than 10mph from entry to exit, assuming I went into the corner undrafted of course. 👍

What Track is that? It looks a lot tighter/more technical than Daytona. :D

I didn't race online that much, everytime i did i would get into 1st place only to have some idiot smash into the back of me and into the barriers, so that really put me off racing online on Prologue, But i did the same as you, i continuously raced on the Daytona Oval until i hit 2Mil, the funny thing was that i couldn't actually buy the F1 car as i hadn't completed every race yet! :dunce::lol:
So i just ended up blowing the 2Mil on all the other expensive supercars on there ;)

Indianapolis.

Looks like an excellent track! 👍

Hahaha yeah! There was plenty of that for sure. I used to use the ole bump draft a lot, and I can tell you the amount of times I got rammed off the track for trying it was ridiculous! :ouch:

It wasn't as if I sailed into the back of them either. As time went on though, I discovered that you could 'tickle' the back of the other car, to see if they understood what I was doing. Those that did, I bumped all the way to the last corner, those that didn't, I kept a beady eye on them!

That was the first time I got drive NASCAR and it was an enjoyable experience, eventhough it lasted only 2 minutes. Those AI were pulling away fast! :sly:
It was easy to feel understeer coming up when taking too much speed through a corner. Can't wait to do this again when GT5 comes out and get there into the pack, especially online with someone, as a spectator, talking all the time. In this case that would have been a contineous "clear all around". I just hope in online mode it will be possible to have conversations between a single racer and a single spectator. 👍

I imagine this could easily be acheived with mics, though I wonder if there is also the option to mute others while playing spotter to one car.

Judging from the lack of NASCAR vids from GamesCom, I'm guessing the rest of the world doesn't care about NASCAR in GT5 bar a few motorsport faithful. Don't you dare hog my premium spots NASCAR!

Or maybe there wasn't NASCAR cars available to drive there. Whatever, I'm sticking with it.

Did the NASCAR car tend to drift to the left on a straight line with the wheel in neutral position?
No, I don't remember having to countersteer on the straights. Maybe the person who tuned the car for this demo didn't realize that on an oval the wheels should be tuned individually, if that is even possible in GT5.
