And do you know that Montoya also said a transition from F1 to NASCAR is tougher then a transition from NASCAR to F1? I'll grab the link if you want it.

( I remember he saying that and Jeff Gorden said it was easier to drive an F-1 car than it was to drive a stock car. If you don't remember think back when he was at Indy drive the blue and white willams f-1)

I haven't watched an F1 race since the Chinese Grand Prix. The racing has become atrociously bad. And no, I'm not an F1 hater and NASCAR lover. This year I've followed SuperBikes, NASCAR, ALMS, Indycars, and all these series have had far better racing then F1. That's my opinion.

I don't mind NASCAR races it is something different in GranTuismo world but what about V8SuperCars how come there did not put them in there?????? :nervous::nervous
If they don't bring back V8SuperCars I will raise hell!!!

If there are no fireworks in pit lane, I'm totally going to hate on it.
( But wheres the jack man? The cars were on a 4 point air jack system.)

By the way, the F1 car driven with a Logitech wheel with FFB on 10 is a BEAST! Go down the straights and you have to grip it like a bear or it shakes like a paint mixer. Driving that thing is like lifting weights!

But wheres the jack man? The cars were on a 4 point air jack system. Turn of power assisted steering and you'll feel it more.

In the video they had NASCAR style pit stops, so hopefully they will in the full game.

Yes they will but they need the jack man..

GUYS

Don't feed the trolls

LOL

Here's an interesting question... if GT5 included classic stock cars like the #3 Goodwrench Chevy by Dale Earnhardt Sr., or maybe one of the "Winged Warriors" (like the #43 Plymouth Superbird raced by the great Richard Petty), do you think these would be interesting bonuses to Gran Turismo 5's NASCAR inclusion? And not to start a wishlist, but have you any other classic NASCAR machines that would look cool in GT5?

Stupid type of racing. Left turn, what's next? Left tuuurn.
LOL

Stupid type of forum member. Troll, what's next? Troooooll.
LOL

I agree, go play Forza

I'm more interested in the inclusion of WRC. :D

THAT will be something.

Also I see Indy there for the nascar potion of the video, does this mean INDY cars?
I'm sure INDY will be there. If they do add Indy cars how many?

Hey that would be great, seeing that Bristol Motor Speedway is only 2 miles from my front door.:D
Hoping for more than 5 to 6 tracks. They did say 100 tracks or was it 96.
Maybe more for download later.

This thread actually stayed far more on-topic that I ever would have thought.

My hope? PD has included a "sampler" of Nascar for the full GT5, select cars/liveries/tracks to expand the marketing reach and overall size of the final game. We will be able to run events with 16 cars on track, but there will be no traditional career/season mode like we are used to with the EA games, just Nascar-GT style.

At some point in the (near) future, I'd love to see the same attention to detail PD brings to the GT series applied to a full Nascar game, with all the tracks and a 43 car field, as well as a true season and career mode. I'd love to see them do something similar with the WRC series license as well.

For those complaining about the development time taken up modeling the Nascar stuff-what about the time wasted bringing what is essentially GT3 to the new PSP? I can see that taking more away from the final push to get GT5 done than a few simple, similar cars and tracks.

Long oval races involve a lot of strategy-if PD gets the tire wear/fuel consumption/car setup stuff right, we are in for some intense racing, even with just 16 cars.

It's funny how much I'm looking forward to this, I don't watch Nascar anymore. The race broadcasts are an insult to my intelligence (DiggerDiggerDiggerDigger), and most of the drivers are as interesting as cardboard. I've followed Allmendinger's progress, and that's about it.

I am not into Nascar at all but you can never have too many features in a game. I am sure the Nascar fans are very happy about this. Hopefully they have one of the Nascar road courses because I cant stand driving around in a huge circle over and over again.

NASCAR licensed for Gran Turismo 5 is almost too good to be true IMO! I really hope they include some older stock cars as well though, or at least the Nationwide Series, since I'm not a fan of the COT car.

I'm just thinking that the size of the the game has to be huge with the addition of NASCAR.
I guess with a blu-ray disc they'll get it all on there.

Which Dodge & Ford cars do you think they will include?

I would like to see

Montoya's #42 Dodge
Carl Edward's #99 Ford
Matt Kenseth's #17 Ford

EDT: they should include Montoya and Ambrose's cars, it would boost international interst

Yeah, it seems there's going to be about 6(?) COT's. Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, Dale Jr.,Michael Waltrip, and Jimmie Johnson

The other indication that they're using the F1 circuit is that the cars are sitting in front of the F1 garages, not the normal pit straight.

Okay here are my thoughts on a NASCAR 10 race series.

1: Daytona speedway

2: Leguna Seca

3: Highspeed Ring

4: Infineon (Sears Point) stock car course

5: Twin Rings Motegi Oval course

6: Test track (GT1/2 preferably)

7: El Capitain

8: Suzuka East

9: Red Rock Valley :)

10: Indianapolis

I think that's quite a nice mix, even for those who aren't oval lovers.

I would love to do a series with those tracks using the Nascar's in GT5. It would be great fun I am sure.

Thats what I counted as well.Did you catch the Dupont paint scheme,on other cars besides Gordons #24 ? Different base color, but same sponsorships.

Also just noticed Waltrips NAPA sponsored car with different paint scheme.

yeah, I think they added some of the special paint schemes, which is good so not everyone will be in the same looking cars. That would get old, real quick.

I just got done watch the replay of the Dover race and seen the Gran Turismo Banner in back area of the pits after the finish. Hopeing Dover will be added to GT5 for NASCAR.

I agree 100% and another good touch would being able to put our own name on the top A pillar. Man I hope we also get on-line video relay saves along with long races besides 10 or 20 laps.

I'm afraid I have to disagree here. I think they should use tracks included in the real life NASCAR series only. But that's just my opinion!

EDIT: Or do you mean for an online event? I'm with ya then! :P

(initially responding to Post #187)

Speaking of liveries, I studied one image. There are two different DuPont liveries in two different colors, and two different Napa liveries. I don't think we'll 43 cars. However, 16 is still quite a lot of cars (can you imagine just six stock cars in GT4?). Chances are, we'll see only certain cars.

I mentioned more on this NASCAR (and WRC) deal in my Blogspot blog. Check the signature. I think NASCAR may still be fun in GT even if you don't like NASCAR.

I've never been a fan of NASCAR, and I've only strarted to give the race series any interest after racing on Daytona Speedway in GT5:P.

I raced right up to 2 million cr on Daytona Speedway, back when it was a 750p pro race, and loved every minute of it. I will freely admit that when I first started racing the track it was because I though it was easy. I was wrong obviously, because I discovered that mastery of the track was not as important as mastery of the guys you were racing against. I found that as my skills improved, I could make other racers do what I wanted them too. By the time that PD gimped out the 750p race, I had almost mastered the art of non-contact aggression.

I'm very excited about the prospect of racing authentic NASCARs, my only wish is that PD include some more authentic tracks to compliment this very welcome addition! 👍
