this is a moot topic, It will never happen. EA holds the Rights to Nascar of any kind in games. I also doubt Polyphony cares about Nascar.

i personally hate NASCAR but that's just me, i hate racing that u only turn left and go straight, there is no such thing as a right-hander in NASCAR, how exciting is that...

"Stock" car racing isn't even popular in Japan. That's especially true even if NASCAR raced in Japan in 1996, or with Hideo Fukuyama and Shigeaki Hattori racing in NASCAR today and then. I guess if there isn't much of a fanbase or interest for NASCAR in Japan, then who really cares, right? Like I said, if GT was an American game, you'd probably see NASCAR "stock" cars against JGTC GT500s, or even worse- GTs and Prototypes. I think there would have to be a lot to convince Japanese racing fans that NASCAR is for real.

Other than that, snowball's chance in Hell.

I went to a NASCAR event in Japan in 98 and there was so many empty seats during the event.

But it was cool watching Dale race his son.

I did a little last-minute searching, but in case you want to see America's NASCAR race in Japan, here are some photo galleries courtesy of Yahoo's image search:

http://www.nnc.or.jp/~makoto-s/96nascar.htm (NASCAR at Suzuka, 1996)

As of right now, I can't find a good website with pictures aplenty of the Motegi race in 1998. This isn't oval racing bias; I couldn't find a good one to share with you all about the Motegi race. The website above is most likely a Japanese website, but the pictures are understandable in any language.

Hey as a fan of racing as a whole, I wouldn't object to seeing stock cars in gt but really lets face it gt is for road racers

I'd object to having any NASCAR affiliation to GT5. NASCAR has its own game, and almost it's own channel (Speed). I think that's enough. EA can, and should, keep NASCAR exclusive, it doesn't bother me. When I play GT I want to get away from any of that. I say NO to NASCAR in GT5. It's not gonna show anyway, anyone remember GT2? Mark Martin's race modification to the Taurus, then the paint scheme was removed. Hmm...

If it were in the interested of some inter-series championship (ie NASCAR vs DTM vs SuperGT vs V8 SuperCars), I think there'd be a place for it. It's a bit of a niche to simply have NASCAR, but to have said inter-series championship would make it a bit more complete. GT already had SuperGT, DTMs and (one) V8 SuperCar, but with NASCAR on the bandwagon it would have another major racing series under its belt. The BTCC and maybe a few others (can't really think of any right now, anyone care to help?) would also have to be included, but for GT to achieve its very ethos, I think it needs to try adn include as many forms of racing as possible short of anything you'd find in NFS:U.

I think it would be cool and fun if PD put in 5-10 Stock cars (one of each gen) like two from the beginning of stock car racing, two from the 70's, two from the 80's, two from the 90's and two sort of new cars.

and then they can include the Daytona Nascar oval track. but not any races/events though. just have the track so you can drive your Stock cars and maybe 2 player and online. then cause its no race at the track it should be no spectators at the grandstands and it could be early evening so its kind of sunraise. that would be a pretty cool atmosphere!

does anyone agree?

EDIT: and/or they can try to have 43 cars at the track at the same time and make ''Polyphony Stock Car Event'' or something. only the Daytona track would be enough in the event then though (one race event) and maybe 30-40 laps.

Meh.

EA paid for NASCAR, let them have it all to themselves for all I care.

I know a better idea put a real BTCC and DTM champ in GT5. DTM and BTCC is real racing.

Mad Murphy NZ
Yay, lets include a racing series that involves driving in circles for hours on end and crashing a lot. There's a reason no other countries do NASCAR - it sucks. Same goes for Indy cars.

Exactly.

Thinking about ovals, I think it would be really awesome to replace Test Course and Super Speedway with Avus and the Monza Banking.

I didn't know Infineon had only left corners....

Go research a subject before making a stupid comment like that.

Infineon? One track? I'd like to see NASCAR cars on Nurburgring. No, actually, I'd rather not. :sly:

Hey, people, Nascar sucks, you guys ever see those shirts, that have a nascar sign and say redneck, and boring on them instead of nascar? Theres a piont to those, try finding one like that about f1 or lemans. Plus they have stupid rules like no downshifting after getting to 6th gear AND they use positive camber settings. That's two stupid things already imo.

I thought it was odd how PD put a NASCAR track, Infineon Stock Car, in GT4, yet not a single "stock car" type of vehicle. They put one in GT2. So why not a couple in GT4? How about two or three in GT5? Shan't hurt. Plus, it gives me something other than a Japanese or German GT style car to race in the JGTC races.

Just for the record, the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing has two road courses on their schedule the whole year. Sears Point (CA) is one, Watkins Glen (NY) is the other.

I'm not a NASCAR watcher anymore. I used to be, some 10 years ago. I found it to get boring in a hurry. I like watching races where the drivers have to upshift, downshift, brake hard, turn left and right. Courses that have elevation changes and blind corners are great also.

Mix NASCAR with road courses and presto you've got Trans-Am. Trans-Am cars today are tube frame chassis beasts that are loud, powerful and can corner quite well. When the schedule takes NASCAR to either of the two road courses, many of the teams will hire a "road course ringer" to drive for them. Some drivers come from the ALMS, Trans-Am, and other road racing sanctioning bodies.

PERFECT BALANCE

No, F1 is boring.

It always seems to be the SAME d*mn guy out in front.
Jeez, when are we NOT going to see the camera on the red car.

Even when he's not in 1st, the camera stays on him.

Y'all are making stupid points- NASCARs don't need to go around road courses that well because they only go to them twice every year. The point that they can't go around road courses is irrelevant and unnecessary; they do their job (going around ovals) quite well actually. Taking a DTM car to an oval and expecting it to perform like a NASCAR would be quite silly, and vice versa. I'm just saying that you shouldn't be bashing the cars for doing what they're supposed to.

You mean Michael Schumacher? Well, you usually keep the camera on the 7-year straight world champion. But this year, after the massive rule changes, everything goes to **** for him. So the racing is more exciting now and Schumacher wont' get his championship anymore at least for this year.

We are not just saying the cars suck, we are talking about the actual racing (if you consider it racing). The sport (if you even consider it a sport). I acknowledge the fact that they are designed to only go around ovals, but that isn't an excuse that the cars suck. What good is a car that can only go around in an oval? You may argue, that's all they need, ovals, but then again, the event just sucks, so may as well forget it. If GT5 has it, then the game has degraded past pre-GT era racing.

Well you drifter guys get your D1's, why not let Nascar fans get a couple Nascar cars. Besides EA has the lisence to the sponsers not the cars. Maybe if PD puts body graphics in the game, we all can design a car. Nascar, D1, F1. Even crap cars.

Before anything I think they should implement trucks. It's something exciting and different. I'd love to whip my 6.0L Diesel 2500 Chevy Truck over Flugpatz. :D

I would burn the disc right away..

Me too, me too...turning left for 500 million hours is not fun, it is stupid.
nascar is all about sponsorships and crap that has nothing to do with racing. i HATE nascar! :yuck:  :ill: try turning right!

just realized everybody else said all that(only read 1st page :dunce: ), so im just adding my 3cents. nascar is THE redneck "sport". yeah if you want real racing try DTM or the BTCC or any other racing series.

Fine. Have your damn nascar.

But don't make it a requirement for the 100% to have 100 laps around each of those those INCREDIBLY different(sarcasm) ovals.

One super speedway is enough for me. And I'm gonna b-spec that.

Or when the Gameshark(or preferred cheat device comes out for next-gens) you possibly can put in Idiot AI and Auto-Pilot if there's no B-spec. But this race "requirement" or race shouldn't even make it at all.

What's wrong with putting a few NASCAR stock cars in GT5? We're not asking for a full NASCAR game.

Mark Martin's Ford Taurus was in GT2. The old Dodge Charger and Plymouth Superbird (which raced in NASCAR in the 1970s) is in GT4.

Besides, there are worse cars in GT... Seriously, how many of you enjoyed racing Daihatsu Midgets?

And some of you people really need to learn more about NASCAR. The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series holds 2 road races a season at Infineon Raceway and Watkins Glen International. NASCAR is mainstream, and it's now the 2nd most popular sport in America (NFL football is #1). I'm not even the "stereotypical" NASCAR fan. I'm Asian American, I'm from San Francisco, California, and I'm a proud NASCAR fan.

I've always said this about GT... The more cars the better.

Hopefully, PD can get around EA's exclusive NASCAR license and put in a few unlicensed NASCAR stock cars.

I want PD to add A1 GP cars, BTCC cars, Champ Cars, and IndyCars.

Bottom line: The more cars the better. If you don't like it, then don't drive it. To each his/her own. But don't spoil it for the rest of us.
