I think hick racing should be left in the south or wherever...off of consoles period. Nothing fun about driving in circles, in traffic, for hours, in the same direction.Snoozefest to me, bro. :boggled:

Oval racing = hick racing?

There are many foreign drivers race on ovals in Champ Car/Indy Car. And there are a few foreign drivers in NASCAR, and some of the most popular NASCAR drivers (like Jeff Gordon) aren't even from the South.

Hell, I'm an Asian American from California, and I love NASCAR. NASCAR is now the 2nd most popular sport in America. It's mainstream now.

It's ok if you don't like NASCAR or oval racing. But you shouldn't be ignorant about what the sport has become.

What's wrong with putting a few NASCAR stock cars in GT5? We're not asking for a full NASCAR game.

Mark Martin's Ford Taurus was in GT2. The old Dodge Charger and Plymouth Superbird (which raced in NASCAR in the 1970s) is in GT4.

Besides, there are worse cars in GT... Seriously, how many of you enjoyed racing Daihatsu Midgets?

And some of you people really need to learn more about NASCAR. The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series holds 2 road races a season at Infineon Raceway and Watkins Glen International. NASCAR is mainstream, and it's now the 2nd most popular sport in America (NFL football is #1). I'm not even the "stereotypical" NASCAR fan. I'm Asian American, I'm from San Francisco, California, and I'm a proud NASCAR fan.

I've always said this about GT... The more cars the better.

Hopefully, PD can get around EA's exclusive NASCAR license and put in a few unlicensed NASCAR stock cars.

I want PD to add A1 GP cars, BTCC cars, Champ Cars, and IndyCars.

Bottom line: The more cars the better. If you don't like it, then don't drive it. To each his/her own. But don't spoil it for the rest of us.

Thank you! Somebody who is open-minded! There is nothing worse than somebody who bashes your sport, but blatantly advertises how "great" their sport is. "NASCAR sucks because all they do is turn left." Football now automatically sucks because all they do is run an over-sized almond from one side of a field to another/kick a ball from one side a field to another. Baseball now sucks because all they do is hit a ball with a stick. Moot point here is, it doesn't matter what sport it is. All sports have pros and cons. All have stupid points. But that still doesn't give a person the right to bash it just because they refuse to open their eyes. 👎:grumpy:

As much as I find NASCAR do be a really boring aspect of motorsport, I can't really think of a good reason as to why Polyphony Digital wouldn't place it in GT5. It realy couldn't hurt, as long as it's only one NASCAR endurance race.

Im sick of hearing peaple say Nascar drivers or any stock car driver is only good at going left. That isnt true.

There are Alot of Nascar drivers that know how to turn left and right! Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jr won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I guess both of them knew how to do more then just go round and round? Dale Jr was going to drive a Corvette at Sonoma but it caught on fire. Tony Stewart raced in the Rolex 24 at Daytona with Dale Jr and Andy Wallace. Tony not only helped his team lead most of the race up untill the car broke. But he was clicking off faster times in the rain then the other so called professionals. He must know how to go right and left too even in the rain. Also the Trans Am series has added stock cars to its races.

It would be nice if more racing fans would just learn to respect each form of racing.

Hmm, I thought it was a Rolex 24 Hours were Earnhardt and his son won in the 2 Corvettes.
Either way, Nascar drivers aren't stupid when it comes to other series.

Well I wouldn't mind to have more cars in it but I personnaly think that watching nascar is boring except for crashes. I'd watch dtm or d1gp if it was shown here .

Hmm...let's see...could be because EA HOLDS THE EXCLUSIVE LICENSE??

I believe PD can get around the issue by putting in unlicensed NASCAR stock cars. For example, PD could put in a NASCAR Chevy Monte Carlo, but they can't use Jeff Gordon's paint scheme.

Well EA only holds the rights to Nascar the sport not the individual teams. Jack Roush could put his cars in what ever game he wants as long as they don't have the Nascar sticker on them. This has to be true cause in the 2005 EA Nascar game there were a few teams and drivers that weren't in the game.

Yay, lets include a racing series that involves driving in circles for hours on end and crashing a lot. There's a reason no other countries do NASCAR - it sucks. Same goes for Indy cars.

indy cars? as in Cart or IRL? which were once the same thing. Cart is a worldwide series. Cart...or whatever its called now.

Hey drifters, nascar may be stupid at times(Ilike them personally) but since they don't have any Trac/ control or asm they'd make awsome drift cars

Okay, guys lets boil this down to basics. How many people would turn down the chance to drive an 800hp Tube Frame purpose built race car in real life? Any more questions. Since were all so enamored with GT4, enough so to be posting on this site, I'd say this is the closest were ever going to get. I'm not one to discriminate, and I like watching F1, WRC, Road Racing, and I want to drive every single one of those cars. Yeah, NASCAR can be boring, but I watch it too, and I sure as hell would never turn down the opportunity to drive a cup car. This isn't converting GT4 into EA NASCAR 07 or god knows when GT5 will be released. Were just talking about adding a different form of motorsports into the mix.

For those who say it cant happen because they cant get the license, does PD have any F1 cars in GT5? I don't mean the look-alike sim F1 cars, I mean a Ferrari, Jordan, BMW Williams, or BAR Honda. For god sakes, they arent even called F1 cars, they are PD Formula cars! We know what they are supposed to simulate, but they dont violate any copyrights. Why can't we apply this to the Nextel Cup style cars? Give me a generic paint scheme, I don't care about driving a brand or a drivers paint job, the cars are all the same anyways. I'd just like to go out there and drive something on Twin Ring Motegi that was designed to run on an oval.

If I repeated anything anybody else said, I'm sorry, I was too lazy to read the last four pages.

PERFECT BALANCE
Hey, people, Nascar sucks, you guys ever see those shirts, that have a nascar sign and say redneck, and boring on them instead of nascar? Theres a piont to those, try finding one like that about f1 or lemans. Plus they have stupid rules like no downshifting after getting to 6th gear AND they use positive camber settings. That's two stupid things already imo.

Well Nascar Stock cars only use a four speed, so obviously don't know what your talking about.

I'm not a fan of Nascar either, but I don't see a reason not to put a FEW(2 or 3) stock cars in the game. They could even be all black like the 'secret racers' in GT4. Hell, there were drag cars in GT2, D1 Cars, and trucks in GT4. I don't see how this is any worse than those motor carriages. Besides, 800+ hp and 9500 rpm?

There's already the super speedway in GT, and it will most likely be in GT5. Super speedway has an endurance race there, so get your oval-racing-fix there.

I'd rather get one average track than ten ovals that are only slightly different.

^^ I can't agree more. However, I agree with super cirrus in that a few stock cars would be cool, but definitely no more than one or two oval tracks... YAWN.

Heck yeah, NASCAR should be in GT5, i dont care who you are, show me a more competitve sport in the WORLD! What other sport can 43 guys all have a legitimate spot at winning, ill tell you, NONE! Give me other racing sport where over 125,000 people come to watch, i can only think of one, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but that track is huge. BRING ON THE NASCARS!!!!!

Give me a reason to run that oval besides for long-arse drifts, sports cars dont belong on ovals, Stock cars Do!!!!

if you start off in the bottom rows your pretty much screwed unless you happened to be lucky :P.

I am sooo looking forward to 1st turn hell in gt5. I dont think most gt players know about 1st turn hell ;D

haha, first turn hell is great, gotta love twent cars on a 60foot wide track funnel down to a 30footer so fast, its great.........................*daydreams*

NO nascar..... Im tired of this so called sport. And well the GT series is popular world wide...while NASCAR is popular only here in the states. F1, sports cars, and many other types are WAY more popular and more people watch them then nascar everywhere else! I could be wrong, but still. Adding nascar to F1 would be like adding poop to a plate of pankcakes. ..... Mmmm. dam now im craving pankcakes.

Flame me all u want, those were my 2 cents......

How about nobody call Stock Cars NASCARS any more. NASCAR=National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing, it does not mean 3500lb stock car that races in that series!. Those vehicles are called stock cars period. I want to drive one, not because I'm a southern hick, not because I'm a race fan. Just because driving one would be the **** thats all! I want stock cars in GT5. Anybody have an argument for that? (thats my personal opinion, which cannot be negated so do not even try)

2 or 3 stock cars in GT5 would be fine by me (those cars have BALLS), but no special series' for them... turning left gets old FAST .

I wouldn't mind (nascars) as long as PD accentuate the wind drag factor, and therefore the drafting. Its the only way to make the NASCAR racing somewhat fun (and a little unique) if we have to race them on oval tracks.

You're quite right. I live in Europe, and I never knew of any NASCAR race here on television, while F1 is all the hype here. And I don't mind, as I think NASCAR is boring as hell (sorry, it is just my opinion). I wouldn't want it in GT5, but if it's in, I wouldn't mind as long as no major championships or endurances are devoted to it. As for the cars, different story. I'd love to see some of those cars, I'd just race 'em on a decent track. :P
