What the hell is with these refs today?! My game last night (also Wednesday in Australia) had terrible refereeing as well, so much so that I absolutely lost the handle at the ref like I've not done in all my 4yrs of playing. For that I can kind of understand what Wade was getting at, but no doubt what Wade did was intentional. As for World Peace, I have no idea how he got away with that, and surely Harden's got to be feeling rather murderous towards him by now.

I personally think the NBA should revert to the old 80's early 90's rules. Too many soft touches are being called fouls today.

You got to be kidding me. This supposed to be a joke? Those two Thunder players didn't flop or anything- Metta World Peace should have gotten either an Offensive Foul or a Flagrant-1 Foul. So you take down TWO guys and don't get ANYTHING called against you? Bloody hell! Then after the free throws, something should have been called against Pau Gasol. Good grief... can James Harden catch a bloody break?

I swear the referees sometimes treat the Lakers like Special Needs children- getting all the calls in their favor and all. It's why I hate when my Rockets play against the Lakers because get the most bulls:censored: refs when we play them.

What the hell is Metta World Peace? Ron Artest?

Yeah, but I still call him "Artest".

I don't know, John. In the Blazer - Rockets Playoff series a few years ago, I remember our guys getting to the basket with ease, but only to be fouled, or collided midair by the Rockets' slow defense with absolutely no call. ;) I am convinced that if they actually bothered calling those, Blazers would have won that series without too much trouble. :dopey:

Sumkid's post reminded me of this:

John Canzano from the Oregonian
We've all watched NBA games and had immediate and obvious suggestions for what we think would make the games better, and more entertaining. Commissioner David Stern is on a 'no-flopping' crusade.

I've heard others talk about changing the shot clock. Others, talk about the annoying star treatment that some NBA players receive. Others yet, would like to see instant replay expanded in the playoffs and/or in the regular season.

So it was with great interest that I looked over the email that the NBA just landed in my in-box. This is the league's new Competition Committee. Check it out for yourself:

NEW YORK, May 16, 2012 – The NBA today announced the members of the
league's new Competition Committee. Last month, the league's Board of
Governors voted to change the composition of the Committee to include two
owners, four general managers, three head coaches and one representative
from the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).

Previously, the Committee included the general manager from each of the 30
teams. That Committee has been reconstituted as the new General Managers
Committee.

“The Board decided that the inclusion of owners and head coaches on the
Competition Committee would add valuable perspectives to discussions about
our game and how it might be improved,” said Joel Litvin, NBA President,
League Operations. “At the same time, we will continue to receive input on
competition and rules matters from all 30 teams through the General
Managers Committee."

The members of the new Competition Committee are owners Dan Gilbert
(Cleveland Cavaliers) and Joe Lacob (Golden State); general managers Bryan
Colangelo (Toronto Raptors), Mitch Kupchak (L.A. Lakers), Kevin O’Connor
(Utah Jazz), and Sam Presti (Oklahoma City); and coaches Rick Carlisle
(Dallas Mavericks), Lionel Hollins (Memphis Grizzlies), and Doc Rivers
(Boston Celtics). The NBPA will designate one of its members to serve on
the Committee.

As is the case currently, if the Competition Committee votes in favor of
changing a playing rule or any other competition-related matter, the
recommendation will be brought to the Board of Governors for its
consideration and vote. The Committee will meet on a regular basis and its
first meeting will take place during the Finals.

The new General Managers Committee will meet annually to discuss the state
of the game and various competition matters.

Some NBA general managers, some owners, some coaches, including Rick Carlisle and Lionel Hollins, and also, a player's association representative to be named later. Not lost here that the league is ultimately going to leave the rule changes to the owners. So fire me your rule-change suggestions. If you're on the committee, what are you discussing?

I heart Timmy. A lot.

Tim Duncan reportedly strongly dislikes Kevin Garnett

In a brilliant feature penned on the reclusive Tim Duncan by Chris Ballard of Sports Illustrated, there's an interesting little nugget about Duncan's most disliked foe -- Kevin Garnett.

In fact, Duncan hates Kevin Garnett. Hates him the way liberals hate Sean Hannity. This information comes from very reliable sources, who talk about how KG has made a career of trying to punk Duncan, baiting him and slapping him and whispering really weird smack into his ear. They talk about how funny this is, because the worst thing you can do as an opponent is piss off Duncan. Then, as Malik Rose says, "he f------ destroys you." Duncan's lifetime numbers versus Garnett's teams, by the way: 19.4 points per game, 11.6 boards and a 44--17 record, including the postseason.

Duncan is diplomatic about the topic. Asked if perhaps all those years battling Garnett have softened his feelings for the man, led to a Magic-Larry type of kinship, Duncan leans back on the couch in his hotel room and grins. There is a pause. A longer pause. Finally he says, "Define kinship."

Now the question is, who really likes Garnett at all? He's established himself as one of the top trash talkers in recent NBA history, is as intense a player as there's ever been, so it's kind of understandable that one of the most professional, understated players ever might not totally enjoy his presence.

Garnett and Duncan have done commercials together though, but then again, so did Magic and Bird. Is it a shocker that Duncan doesn't like Garnett? Um, no. The real story probably would've been if Duncan had said they're good friends.

Here's the fun thing: With the Heat hurting and the Spurs looking more dominant than any team in the postseason, there's a relatively good chance Duncan and Garnett could meet in The Finals. Now wouldn't that be something -- especially now.

Damn, what happened to the Heat today? The Pacers won 94-75 and Wade only scored 5 points. :boggled:

Wade has been replaced by some guy wearing his jersey. He took the night off.

Saw it here.

Not really accurate, but I found it amusing. I hope Spurs play as well on the road!

 a6m5, that picture is pretty funny. I also think it's awesome Duncan doesn't like Garnett, I don't like him either.:P It does look like the West is almost guranteed a Thunder Spurs Final series, as though it was ever going to be different from the start, and who ever wins between those two I'm betting will destroy the Eastern contender and take the championship.

Bad night all around... :/

I suppose my divine punishment for being a Heat fan is having to work in Indiana next week.

MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

But in seriousness, Miami fans better start respecting Bosh. No matter how athletic you are, or how potent your offense is, a well honed big man defending the rim will always make matters worse when the shots don't go in.

Bron Bron is getting too tired carrying the team, Wade needs to stop being a little girl, and Coach Spo needs to take a page out of Thib's book of how to own your players.

This is why a good bench is necessary for a championship squad, not three superstars and a bunch of scrubs.

Lie, Josh. Much jeering is unavoidable. Heck, we have a Heat fan at work we also play ball with. He's from Florida, so not a bandwagon fan, nicest guy, gigantic black dude(yes, he pwns me on court), and we still don't cut him any slack. You are a Bobcats fan from North Carolina next week. Lie like a dawg.

I reckon they will sweep the Clippers or be a 4-1 series.

I don't think it will be a sweep, but 4-1 is looking like a possibility. I thought it will be a 6 game series, but I guess Chris Paul's hurting more than I thought.

I'm the biggest KG-hater, because I used to respect the man. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Towards the last year he spent in Minnesota, he became this.... how do I say.... world's biggest 🤬 🤬 And this turnaround made me absolutely hate him. He was the highest paid NBA player in Minnesota, and I thought he earned EVERY PENNY. Somehow, his competitive spirit spilled over to nasty hate. Seriously, it was like Anakin Skywalker turning to the dark side!

I dunno what u talkin'bout, KB24's gonna bring the Lakers BACK!

But you are probably right. :(

Is Miami bench really that bad? I thought they accumulated some veteran talent outside the starting line-up. I don't watch the games, so maybe they are all horrible now, I don't know.

On the Bosh comment, I have heard that DeLonte's stepson's been working on post moves with Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon? I'd use LeBron in the post at this point. David West is not a bad defender, so it might not work, but for the Heat to turn the tide, they need to mix up their offense a bit. If I was Spoelstra, I'd definitely try that, see how the Pacers defense react. LeBron is not a 4, but he has decent basketball I.Q., and certainly strong enough to play 4, and is unbelievably fast & quick.

Edit: Lakers make 41 of 42 free throws, Kobe 18 out of 18. Beautimus.

At least the Lakers-Thunder series is entertaining, they're having fights every game.

We need a 8ft tall dude with spider monkey arms next season. Just stand outside of the key with your hands in the air.

Also, get some eastern European with a degree in 3 pointers from communist trade school.

The problem with Miami's bench is that they all depend on the big three too much. No one on the bench can really take the initiative and score. A lot of times you just see them standing around if they are well covered. I said it then, and I'll say it again: Until Miami can get a legit sixth man, and a shooter not named Mike Miller (Scrub), and a big not named Dexter Pittman (uber scrub) and Tufiaf (Scrub), they are gonna get the same results. Unless the NBA decides Heat games should only be 24 minutes long so Bron Bron won't get exhausted.

Heh...probably not going to Indiana, job was delayed. The only place I haven't worn my Heat hat was Cleveland. I'm a fan, but I'm not stupid.

Smart move.

Never wear a Jordan jersey in Detroit, a Kobe Jersey in Boston, and a Nowitzki jersey in Miami.

I'd love to see Pupik represent in Cleveland, record everything & post it on youtube. Somehow I get the feeling it will make it to 11 o'clock news in Oregon.

"A man wearing a Miami Heat Jersey was stabbed today by Dan Gilbert...In other news, Ohions discover that there is indeed 50 states."

No fair, I purchased a copy of Quicken some years ago! And while we're at it, I admired Brad Daugherty for coming "out of the NASCAR closet" before it was cool...

Well, Brad Doherty's cool points just went down a bit. And I'm sure Gilbert can afford a .50 cal.

I watched my first Spurs game this year, and after damnnear going single digit score in the first quarter, I was ready to not watch. :guilty: I sure like the (Playoff)veteran savvy Spurs showed today, and we all knew Clippers were not going to be able to keep that up. I swear, for while there, spirit of Hakeem got in Griffin's body, yes, he actually pulled the Dream Shake, or something resembling it. We don't see stuff like that in the NBA anymore, which tells me today's NBA is really low on skills.

Don't get me started on Blake Griffin.

That man has talent, but unfortunately he wants to go for the dunk too many times. His defense can use some work, and he has to work on a shot. A big man that can shoot the ball well poses problems for interior paint defense.

You know, I've been watching Nascar for the past few years and I only realised last week that Brad Daugherty the basketball player and Brad Daugherty the guy who's on my T.V talking about Nascar for some reason are the same. Who knew? :dunce:

Just to get back on-topic. The Spurs are going to sweep the Clippers.
