Just try to keep the game within 20 points for moral victory. :dopey:

On the Blazers new coach, he was one of the two finalist, so I knew his name, but I was not at all impressed by his track record. Then today's story(also partially quoted in goat's ESPN story):

"Of all the coaches presently in play, Terry is by far the best available. He's a professional and understands the process of NBA coaching and how to communicate and teach young players."
"I had two others jobs prior to going to Dallas," Carlisle said last month. "There are a lot of inexperienced coaches who might lose four or five early games and get paralyzed. Terry wouldn't blink. It pains me to say this, but I think he's 100-percent the right coach for Portland.

"My biggest concern then would be how do I replace him?"

With quoted like these from the bright, established head coach like Rick Carlisle, who are you to argue? I'm not holding my breath, but he certainly deserves a chance with that kind of recommendation.

I don't understand why, But Team USA lolligaggles for three quarters, and then decides to go into destroy mode and finish the job.

Good game Australia, now we have to show why Argentina should be called Flopentina.

How does this happen?

Right in the jimmi jammer!

Yo mama so stupid, when asked where was the capital of Thailand, she answered "Nic Batum!"

Don't worry France, we'll take care of Spain for you.
Too bad USA doesn't have Artest. He has no problem accepting challenges. His new name could be "Metta....." I'm gonna quit while I'm behind.

He better make sure he doesn't try that when the season starts over here. Fine & suspension aside, whoever he hits will be out for his blood at the next game. A superstar might even come right back at him with a sucker punch.

Batum said after the game that he wanted to give Navarro? something to actually flop over or something along those lines.

Artest would've fought some hooligans before the games started.

The foul he gave was a bit much, but I won't throw him to the fire for doing it.

Spain and Argentina flop like it's ingrained in their system.

I dunno if you guys heard, but the Blazers have asked the NBA for permission to relocate the team to Thailand.

Not if they have a self-respecting enforcer on the team. ;)

Yeah, one story read that he said something along lines of I'm sorry to fans, France, congrats Spain. One that everybody heard is this "gave 'em something to flop about".

True.

A predictable end to the Australian Olympic campaign, but at least Mills showed the world he's a good player, scoring 26pts against even USA. I've yet to watch the game, but I understand we gave USA a reason to shift into 2nd gear during the 3rd quarter. Well done to all, now......moving on.

Man if only Patty could perform like that in the NBA.

Patty Mills definitely showed talent against USA, but he needs to throw on a few pounds of muscle, spend some summers or off season working out with some NBA players and learn some new moves.

Oh, look. More Howard trade news. (Surprising I know)

Howard deal very close
A four-team trade that would send Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers is "very close" to happening and could be agreed upon Friday.
In the proposed four-team deal, sources told Broussard that Howard and Denver Nuggets forward Al Harrington would go to Los Angeles, Lakers forward Pau Gasol and Nuggets guard Arron Afflalo would go to the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers guard Andre Iguodala would go to Denver, and Lakers center Andrew Bynum would go to Philadelphia.

Seriously I'm so over all of this, just trade the guy already.

Yeah. I saw the headline on CBS Sports, I did'n't even bother clicking on it.

Looks like Lakers gives up both Bynum & Gasol, so I supposed that's only fair, but that sucks. Harrington is useless, but he's never played with a team that is the current Lakers....... who has? :dopey: Dwight, Kobe, Nash. Pretty interesting line up.

I think the Lakers would be making a HUGE mistake if this trade goes through and if it doesn't go through.

My feeling on this is that, as it stands, Lakers will not contend for the Championship. With this trade, it could push them to contention. It's possible.
It's quite clear that Spain and France are fighting for possession of Andorra.
I had never heard of Andorra before. :ouch:  Is there a territorial dispute or something?

They gave up too much, and Orlando will get too little out of this.

LA Lakers Receive: Dwight Howard
Denver Nuggets Receive: Andre Igoudala
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Andrew Bynum, Jason Richardson
Orlando Magic Receive: Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nicola Vucevic, 3 protected first round draft picks (from all 3 teams) and Moe Harkless.

 Andorra is a tiny country on the border of Spain and France. Its too small to be important.

This is a different deal than the one Spacegoat posted then. I like this even more, as it seems the Lakers keep Gasol(VERY ideal), and give up only Bynum & a pick. Sixers come out good, too. Magic might be the loser, but they held on to Howard way too long.

Yeah, I looked it up & it said Andorra is stuck between Spain & France, so.....

Even Gasol as part of the trade, the trade would have helped the Lakers, but:

Gasol
Artest
Howard
Kobe
Nash

If these guys could mesh, if they take advantage of their size, they could potentially beat Miami. I had already declared 2012~2013 Season over, but this trade might have made it game again. :embarrassed:

And Stav: It's not officially a done deal, but reportedly, it is.

Done deal.

Exactly the deal Blitz24 posted, Lakers keep Gasol and send Bynum to the 'sixers.

That is a smoove move by the Lakers, now they're contenders for the title next year and I'll definitely try and watch some of their games.

Yeah well I can do with reports saying it's done, now I actually wanna see a Lakers vs. Miami match
