Again though, this is a no risk move, and it's not like Heat is a player in the FA market.

Oden possibly has career ending/ended injury(injuries?), Beasley has broken head. With Beasley, obviously, this is his final chance. He blow this, he blow his career. For real this time. He's a damaged goods at this point in the best case scenario. When a player, even a loser, has some talent, something to prove, some teams should look at them. Heat is one of those teams for sure, and they have great leadership(Riley), coach & the veteran players to keep him in check.

If Beasley isn't feeling the pressure, it is good-bye NBA for him, and again, Heat lose just about nothing for this gamble.

Don't care for that loser, but I am somewhat pulling for G.O. I wish him well, and Heat to lose a lot.

I think I read from ESPN's Bottom Line that Jason Kidd's jersey will be retired by the Nets on October 17 when the Brooklyn Nets play against the Miami Heat in a Preseason game. Jason Kidd should be in somebody's Hall of Fame if he isn't already in one.
He will be one day more than likely. However, he still has 5 years to go before the nominations can include him to start.

At just 24yrs old Beasley could still quite realistically salvage a career, unfortunately the NBA is a place for dreamers dwelling on what "could be" and not "what is". Beasley will probably never play meaningful minutes if he even makes the team because he's a nut job. It's an interesting signing anyway.

If he gets back into form I'd prefer him to be the backup 3 compared to someone like James Jones or Battier  those two guys are getting on haha

Hollywood Nights. Is that how you like your Lakers' uniforms? See for yourself and judge these alternate uniforms: http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2013/9/...e-black-uniforms-hollywood-nights-kobe-bryant

As much as I'm sick of anything Lakers-related, I actually like these alternate uniforms. At first, I thought of Houston since we have a nightclub here in Houston called Hollywood Nites. I actually like these alternate uniforms for the Lakers. What say you on these unis?

The NBA is considering nicknames on the back of jerseys rather than players' names. A game between the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets is sort of the game to test this out. What would you make of teams using nicknames rather than their real names on the jerseys?

ESPN shows like "Around the Horn" and "Pardon the Interruption" had their say, and I really agree on it being offensive if you had Andrei Kirilenko (whose nickname is "AK47") with his nickname rather than his real name. But what do you make of all of this?

I don't know, but if Lebron James was wearing "King James" on a rare off night he'd look pretty stupid. Most NBA nicknames are just initials anyway. Word has it Toronto will host the 2016 All-Star game, go team!

Nicknames on jerseys would be disgraceful and silly. Hope they don't do it.

But, if they do, is Beasley going to wear "Bust" on his back? What about Greg Oden? "Medicare"? "Wounded Knee"? Shane "Flop" Battier? Jason "Forever Posterized" Terry?

It has been done in the NBA before, but it has been quite some time since it happened. Pete Maravich wore "Pistol" on the back on his jersey.

It really depends on the nickname. In the case of Pete Maravich, Pistol was pretty awesome. Going with that on the back of the jersey instead of Maravich was a no brainer.

Reports are coming through that the Kings have offered Cousins a 4yr $62million deal. You think this is overpaying for an immature brat or a bargain (since it's not a max deal) for a Centre who could become one of the best.
I see Bogut is finally healthy for the first time since that scary crash to the hardwood he had a few years back, this will really put the Warriors on the map. You can call me crazy, but I feel they could be a top 3 team in the West.

Word has it that the NBA Finals may go to the 2-2-1-1-1 format. Would you like this?

I do think the nickname on jersey thing is silly, but it would put "AK47" on a Bronx jersey(I just typed NJ....oops). 2-3-2 never made sense to me, unless I didn't have the home court, then I'd love it.

Yeh 2-3-2 id like to see changed too .

I forgot to update this post. It's Preseason time! We're hosting the New Orleans Horn... uh, Pelicans tonight.

Here is our chance to see our favorite teams and some of the new talent and returning stars. These games don't matter unless you're trying to make the team. So here is a chance to follow today's players. Feel free to chat about any players who interest you and look good in Preseason play.

It wasn't actually that bad. The news says it's because he was asking for calls to be made, & 1 of the referees called a tech. for making continuous comments about it.

He did play well though for under 30 minutes of game time, & they only lost by 1 point.

One day of action and we already have a key injury, Tyreke Evans twisted his ankle for the Pelicans, hopefully not too badly.

Our #1 pick is out for surgery(I think on a toe). It feels like a tradition at this point!

I heard Dwight Howard accounted for about 19 points for the Rockets in his debut last night, even though we lost 116-115(?) to the Pelicans. My only concern with D12 is if he'll be more a player or a distraction. I still remember the good quote- "we draft character, not characters." Dude just needs to mature and not be any serious distraction.

Again- none of these Preseason games matter or count towards anything in the regular season. So just enjoy some basketball from these guys as the regular season comes up.

I just saw on the news that the Blazers had 17 turnovers in a half, against the Clippers. You just have to laugh.

On Saturday, the Thunder won their first preseason game 85-82 against Fenerbahce in Istanbul, Turkey. I did not watch the game, but I did see a few highlights. Kendrick Perkins dislocated a finger during the game and did not return. Fingers are not supposed to bend in the direction that his finger was bent. Kevin Durant had a very nice dunk. That was about the extent of the highlights that I saw.

OKC plays the 76ers later today in Manchester, England. The game is at 2:00 Central Time on NBA TV. If I did not have to work, then I would be watching it.

So... The timberwolves lost to Moscow.
Ouch.

My Suns beat an Israeli league team, and from the looks of it, Alex Len looks solid, Miles Plumlee is decent, Archie Goodwin has some things to learn, and Eric Bledsoe is the real deal.

The Indiana Pacers and Houston Rockets will play a game this coming October 13 in Philippines, my home country. I'll just watch it in TV live.
