Project Ferrari is on hold while they finish up Shift. EA does not have the Ferrari license, but they are using the game's engine (which is where the realism is coming from) to develop Shift.

Um, I believe it is the Nurburgring 24 Hour winner. Notice how its the #1 Manthey Team Porsche? That car has won the race for the past four years. #1 is usually given dependant on the position of the car in the previous years race. That car was the winner, whether the paint job has developed or changed is a different story. It is a Manthey team car, more specifically #1.

Now can we end talking about a real life photograph? And get back to talking about Shift.
He's not talking about the photograph. He's pointing out the Porsche seen in-game isn't the Manthey Porsche which is what Hun was asking.

Ah I see, didn't realise the picture was originally a quote of someone else. I'll edit that post now :dunce:

I know from 2 sources that they are still working on project Ferrari. It's very close to completion but due to the fact that 10Tacle has all the licenses and filed for bankruptcy last year in august, SMS can't release project Ferrari.

It's true that project Ferrari's physics engine and maybe even the graphics are used to develop SHIFT!

I'll watch the trailer tomorrow, does it have any gameplay footage showing more of the physics?

Thanks for the trailer!

I'm beginnig to doubt that SHIFT is what I'm looking for in a sim. The graphics don't look as crisp, polished and beautiful as in the screenshots.
There is something odd about the sense of speed. It looks like this game is on some sort of speed steoroids.

Why are the trailers about SHIFT that I've seen all about crashing? It seems that the race pilots are former demolition derby drivers. This looks more like FlatOut but with race cars and on race tracks instead of dirt tracks. Now I understand why people compare this with GRiD!

It looks more like a game for the general public and more for the youth than for hardcore race sim adults. Just my humble personal opinion. :)

I don't want to sound too harsh but I was so excited about SHIFT and was really interested untill I saw this trailer.

Oh well, Slightly mad Studios (SMS) have very talented programmers and I have full confident in them that they will create a very good, interesting and realistic race sim for the PS3/Xbox360 in the near future.

SMS should make a GTL based realistic hardcore race sim for the PS3/Xbox360 and make it as good as the GTL mod for rFactor "Historic GT and touring cars", which is still my favourite sim. GT series comes next.

Have to agree that the graphics don't look as good in that video and I'm guessing the constant crashing theme in the last two teasers is to appeal to the majority of the market who enjoy crashing and then ooooing and ahhhing at how pretty it is when peices fall off their car. :ouch:

I still have hope for the simulation mode to be good but these videos are not helping to dissapate all the skepticism thats out there about the nfs series trying to make a serious racer.

Whoever is making these trailers is certainly aiming for the typical 'modern' NFS player.

I don't think there is any doubt that they are trying to hit the same audience as GRID. The question is how serious are they about getting the true sim audience as well? I expect that most of the advertising will be geared to the masses and I don't think we will know how it stacks up as a sim until someone reputable reviews it.

The trailer was ok, and not really aimed at the sim crowd. Its an exciting trailer to grab attention, close wheel to wheel action with passing and incidents every corner in the one lap race. Sure it doesnt do much for the sim side of things but for hype and marketing, it couldn't be much better, for comparisons sake, go have a look at the Superstars V8 new trailer on the same website, its clearly a more sim oriented trailer, but is oh so boring.

As for the graphics, i made that call a page or two back doubting whether the game would live up to the screenies. Im not gunna pass judgement yet as the game is a ways off and its a compressed video streaming from gametrailers, and it still looks good, just not at the polish of those 'untouched' screenshots.

Sorry was that a trailer for NFS or a new Fast and Furious movie? I'm even less convinced that this game is any different to the last 4 Need for Speeds considering all it is encouraging is ramming cars off the roads and doing burnouts off the line yet somehow not bogging down.

Very nice car list and boy am I excited about driving the zonda r, what a car! Please please please have good physics. Thanks for keeping us updated Berca and I can't wait until this game gets a proper review from a sim site / magazine. I also understand the your majority of buyers will be the arcade burnout types and so I can push the trailers aside as trying to appeal to them.

EDIT: Nordschleife!!!!

That's not a bad car list, but as Squasher said, please please please let this game have good, if not fun at least, physics.:ouch: Interesting to see the LF-A in there. Only 3 GM cars, but if I can make a race car out of the first production Camaro in a Sony game, then it should be worth it.

Saw the E3 preview on Spike TV last night, and either they picked a really bad driver to make that trailer or the handling looks like it sucks.

Nice car list, biggest in a NFS yet? Maybe. The tracks seem cool as well, especially with the Nordshleife, Spa and Brands Hatch, and also London (I assume that is the one from GT5P.)

I doubt it'd be the same London track as GT5:P, they probably have that copywrited as I'm pretty sure it's their own course layout.

I think the track list is ok as I havn't raced on many of them so I'll have to learn them. How many are fictional and which ones? I recognise quite a few real world tracks but I havn't heard of a fair few as well

I'll start with what I know as real

Am I missing something but haven't we seen screen shots showing the DBR9? However theres no Aston's in that list....

EDIT: Re-read the list. Gosh, I'm useless at this. It is there, just right at the top...Where it was supposed to be.

I can't comment on trailer ... :-(

Very impessive car and track list. Some of the tracks are my favourite.

But how come that your little screenie looks so good and the graphics (cars) in the trailer look so, mmmm, not good?

EDIT: link works! Is that how SHIFT really looks? Then I have to withdraw my words in my previous post!

And

The physics seems to be OK 👍
