Any news on the first DLC car pack and will it be free or not?
Alas no and I doubt it'll be free. EA aren't ones for freebies lest it's a bug fix and general update. I don't mind the paid dlc approach as long as it's good content and not a micro transaction. As for when best to wait until mid January for news. Last DLC was an update with cut content and a tweek to encourage people into the game over Christmas as this will likely be their first play after the early birds are stuffed with Turkey and Ham.

The “Terminator” crew emblem has been fixed in a recent update.
Along with this, the crew emblem vinyl has also been changed to a fix design.

'Fixed'. They probably had some licensing issues I presume. ;) Really not liking this new design, should have just replaced it with a different skull design. But copy/pasting a hat and glasses was probably cheaper. ;)

So I put in the 3.8L V8 from Mclaren I think into the NSX-R for more heresy. I previously had the 2.9L V6 Alfa engine in it. Holy crap does the NSX-R absolutely fly with it.

That being said, I wish every base engine had a forged option, so we can keep the exhaust note if we like it, and be competitive with it. Not everything should have/need a V8/V10/V12 imo to be competitive when PvP will come.

I'm putting hybrid options everywhere possible. I'm so in love with this acceleration gain, that not even bothered with low top speed. Also for those who may be interested, 911 turbo S exclusive have Hybrid engine option!

Just finished the main story at level 31. I discovered the n00b way of grinding rep: doing laps + jumps around the speedway until heat 5, then hightailing it outta there with another jump while all the cops are still stuck inside. Easy escape and 100k+ rep in less than half hour  I like Payback's story better personally. It doesn't really feel like your character achieves anything here since Torres is just Mercer Mark II but oh well, not gonna lose sleep over it. I also find the last car Mercer drove to escape a bit shoehorned in (not gonna say it just in case people don't want to be spoiled). Now focusing on doing the side stories and completing all the races.

Also, I just realised that you can actually enter a race with your PR lower than the recommended number. Rohin's off road races are so much easier with rally parts, even though you're like 100 PR below the recommended

Can confirm speedcross parts are hack for drifting too  They key to getting big scores in NFS since 2015 is to get your tail sideways as much as possible. Don't care about speed/angle/duration, but just do lots of small drifts and keep the multiplier up. So it makes sense that offroad + drift parts which have the lowest grip will rack the highest scores. If you find the car is too oversteery, then using drag tires adds a bit of understeer to keep you from spinning out every turn.

BTW, does anyone know if someone leaves your crew, do they take the rep earned for the crew away with them? My crew is level 40 now but a few people have started leaving, which is very annoying.

IIRC the rep earned as a crew is a seperate rep and in retained online. If someone leaves the rp remains as part of the crew. The only pain is that it's slower to build single handed, but the good news is the final max is 6million from lvl 49 to 50 so a few good runs will build you up nicely

So... Just a small question: How do I get access to all the time trial events? It is level based? They unlock by progression (already finished the main story)?

I'm level 31 and still not showing the one in the highway (forgot the name) and "The Heights" TT...

Thanks in advance! :)

I think it's based on your story progression and your car level, but I'm not that sure.

Reputation level, when you level up you see a message - new events has been unlocked. But I don't know when this one will become available.

It's so sad, people play Need For Speed, but no one plays at night. Wonder why Discovery race locked to Night, this probably could be the most frequent used race, as Sonic now.

I know this is a NFS heat thread, but can't wait to get it next month! :D Polishing my skills with my Trailblazer BRZ on Payback :D

For as much fun as I have had with the game, I regret getting this game for my PC. Especially as it has not run well for me since the last update and makes my laptop go into thermal shutdown after 30 minutes of play now when it had been running fine up until the update.

Do you mean online? I don't like to play online, but the main reason why i'm still at level 36 and have already finished most of the stories is the traffic... I know it sounds stupid, but there is way too much traffic at night!!
I got busted 2 times while doing Heat 3 and Heat 5 parts races because of traffic, one time lost all my health after hitting 2 trucks, the other one in high speed while dodging a car went on water and when respawn got busted.... facepalmu.gif At night it should be a little less traffic, right!?

On another subject, my FXXK is way glued to the road, anyone has tips to make it a bit more easy on hard cornering? Or maybe I've been driving the RSR for too long... :D

TY!

Well, there must be hardcore players there. This is not about leveling up anyway, just a fun and risks of night time racing, a little survival horror in racing game universe and such things. If I want a simple arcade track racer, I would prefer something else, not NFS. This is wat this game about and makes it outstanding - cop chases on public roads, at least it was always like that.

They could simply add heat levels option for a day too. I have met a great guy today in free roam, we got both 5 heat level at day and has had really good fun with cops and traffic. There could also be a motivation to race at night post game, because reputation points are useless, and who knows if in future DLC there will be use of them.

Got the game for Christmas.
Played the "tutorial" and I found the horn button

Have to say, this game has pretty much sucked my entire game time this past 6 weeks, ever since I got it :D feels good to be back playing an NFS game again, and it's a damn good NFS. I just unlocked all of the Ultimate parts last week, and so I have been switching between this, GT Sport and other games. My favorite car has to be the NA1 NSX-R; it's so fast and nimble with that McLaren 570S engine (562hp 3.8L V8). Here are some of my shots with the NSX and my other cars.

I did the same with my NSX-R. I wish the R35 engine was an option for it; that way it's still a V6. But that said, the McLaren V8 seems to be the best option for the NSX-R. I tried the other V8 which is the 4.0L (I think it's a Merc engine), and it does something weird to the car's handling which makes it worse. Difference in acceleration is negligible, but the McLaren V8 allows the NSX to maintain a higher speed through corners.

The 2.9L Alfa V6 is not a bad option; it can take you throughout the entirety of the story missions and it gives smooth handling to boot.

How do you know which is the best engine swap for a car? I thought you just pick whichever has the highest potential HP but now that people are saying it also affects handling. Seems like a huge money pit just to test the various combinations. I finally bit the bullet and swapped my 180SX with the Flat-6 (from a Porsche I think judging from the sound). Haven't tested it in a race yet though. Hope it's not $250k down the drain :nervous:

Also been experimenting with various suspension/tire/diff combos. I've settled for the following:
Race - track susp/tire, speedcross diff (very close feeling to MW 2012 handling)
Offroad - rally susp/tire/diff
Drift - speedcross susp, drag tire, speedcross diff

If you're experiencing thermal shutdowns, I don't think it's the fault of the game...

From my experience NFS has always been poorly optimised for PC. My laptop meets all the recommended requirements for 2015 but it still has issues loading parts of the map and I would fall into the abyss multiple times in longer races. I literally have to memorise the exact points the map fails to load in the final race and wait a couple seconds to drive through, otherwise the game's long loading times putting you back on track would guarantee I'd never win this race.

Also I don't know about anyone else, but my PS4 Pro's fans always goes to overdrive when playing Heat, even within the first few minutes. I never even heard it this loud when playing GTS or Driveclub for hours on end.

Running this on a gaming laptop as well. Have used gaming laptops for the past 4-5 years or so and I can say from experience that cooling varies a lot per laptop. Getting a decent cooling stand (won't break the bank, Google for best ones in terms of thermal performance) helps a lot.

Furthermore, Turbo settings generally make the CPU bounce up and down in terms of throttling and hitting the limit, which means that most of the times it's running lower than 100% on average, which kind of defeats the purpose. If the game is not CPU-bound (and most aren't) you can limit the CPU quite easily by setting max limit to 99% (instead of a 100%) in the energy profile settings. This effectively disables the Turbo. I have two profiles that I switch depending on the game I run, one with max CPU power and the other with limited. Keeps the laptop cool and the fans quiet.

But start with a decent laptop stand.

Mine does it too. I thought it was the PS4 getting ready to die on me. I bought a stand with 2 small fans in it, but those are louder than the PS4's internal fan, so I can't say for certain that they are helping. I haven't had it stumble in the game, so, fingers crossed.

Yup, swapping engines does affect the handling. Haven't tried any of the Porsche engines in my cars, but from what I've been seeing it seems like a really solid option, if not the best. What I got for my 180SX instead was the R35 engine, and it's amazing. Insane acceleration plus the right amount of slip just to micro drift around corners. Personally I'm gonna keep it that way.
