Still been playing off and on quite bit. Got a few of my Derelicts close to 399, off road C10, drag Bel Air, and race Mustang. Focused on upgrading some cars and getting 3 stars on some activities for awhile now as I'm pretty sure I'm on the last racing leagues and I'm not ready to be finished with it all yet. Still loving it, despite some issues.

Well just about completed the main story missions.
Should be completed tomorrow.
Then the roaming runners and stars.
Lastly the speedlists for the final 2 trophies.

I'm holding off on the last few story missions as I feel like if I completed them I'll quit playing
As for the roamers, what does beating them accomplish? I beat the first off-road crew and the boss and as far as I recall I just got xp

Trophies.
That's all I am going for.
Then I will most likely be done until more missions gets put in.

Ah gotcha

I thought it'd be nice to win the bosses car or something

Hope Ghost adds more. I'm actually enjoying PB more than FH3. Maybe they add more missions or an optional cop chase free roam

I'm buying and grinding cars which sustains me at the moment

Tip for the Derelict car 399.
If you have any other car at 399.
You do one mission.
Go back to garage
Change to your derelict
Easy trophy popup.

I'm taking on the roaming racers of each crew as I am going through that crew's story missions - After watching a playthrough online, I felt that the missions and story were a little short. I'm deliberately lengthening my playthrough this way.

I completed the story a few evenings ago and felt a bit disappointed at the end. I was expecting a fairly epic storyline with lots of fun missions, chases, and big set pieces but what I actually got was 4-5 main "missions" with lots of races inbetween. Don't get me wrong the races were good, but why sell the game as being an epic cinematic like experience when very little of it actually was? It felt like they created the Regera highway chase mission first and then realised they were running short on time so shoehorned the rest in.

A perfect example of this was the Outlaw's Rush.

This thing is bigged up as being an epic event throughout the entire game and when you reach it you complete 3 basic races, 1 of which is meant to feature a battle with members of the crews you previously faced off against; but for me they couldn't even keep up and I never actually saw any of them apart from on the mini-map! So I won the 3 races and then something happened with The House that wasn't clear, some guy drove off in an NSX and the 3 main characters raced to the airport. Apparently. Not that we get to play that bit.

I still don't know what the story even was. The House rigged races, you were double crossed by the woman with the funky hair and to get her back you raced her? Some people had unknown tech in their cars, but this is dropped after being referenced a few times. Were they self driving? Were they collecting data on drivers? What were they using that data for? Why even enter cars with this tech into the Outlaw's Rush when it's clearly not worked in any of the other races in the game? The House had the cops in their pocket, but only until some street racers started driving dangerously downtown? Why didn't they just do that during the earlier races or when any of the crew were in trouble in the final story mission before the Outlaw's Rush? Nothing makes sense!

Also the final off road race is just an absolute mess of a thing, it felt very unfinished

As cheesy as the story in 2015 was at least there was enough of one to keep you entertained throughout the game. I'd say 2015 felt way longer than Payback overall.

This is what I think the story was getting at:

There were two goals in the story: For Tyler to get revenge on Lina and to find out what the house was doing to rig races. As for rigging races, we discover that The House used technology to make cars drive themselves. This wasn't confirmed until the dialogue between Tyler and his crew after the end credits, so this could have easily been overlooked. It was hinted in one of the Hazard Company races when Holtzman said that his drivers were useless until The House hooked him up with some tech and the runner missions as you discover the data being collected by The House. There are many unanswered questions, but hopefully the Story Mission pack provides some of the missing links.

^^^ Yeah, I'm obviously just getting started with my own playthrough, but it seems that the Outlaw's Rush was, well... rushed. It is much ado about nothing, and the game plays very much like a typical fantasy RPG - you go off and do all kinds of stuff, get the ultimate equipment, and by the time you reach the end of the game, it isn't even challenging.

I feel like the story is ambiguous, regardless of the intent, it feels like everyone keeps smack-talking about this awesome tech, but it never shows up in-game. I almost wish it resulted in some special weapons usage like in Rivals (or was it Most Wanted '12?), anyways, that would've made more sense at least.

As for the Outlaw's Rush event itself, it should've been presented very similar to the Horizon festival like in FH3. The didn't have to make it a several day event or anything, but it should've looked like something special. There should've been more events and a much bigger production. There should've been cutscenes showing a big car show, live stage performances, you name it. There should've been like 20 opponents in each race, but instead it just looked like any other race.

It's quite possible that they deleted some of the missions that would've made it more epic in order to sell them as the upcoming story pack. Would suck if that's the case, but it's entirely possible.

I haven't reached the drag missions yet. I only got to play about an hour last night and I was hooning around in the Land Rover taking on League 73. Spent most of my time in the garage though creating a wrap. Has anyone else noticed that the Matte sheen on vinyls is anything but? It's bugging the crap outta me.

I started doing the drag missions which I found fun yet quite easy-that is until they start throwing corners into the mix..yeah lets have a race with a heap of corners using cars that arent designed to corner in the first place......

:banghead:

If the NSX truly acts like a Race class car through turns then Im buying one for drags to deal with this garbage.

^ yeah those races are stupid. I was really hoping for more straight up drags. Once you get the hang of how to turn them they can be kinda fun, i might be a sucker for punishment though.

Just did all the billboards.
Chips might take some time.
Then activities.
Finish the final few trophies after that.
Shouldn't be too much longer.

...The RX-7's a derelict?
Assuming that this video is correct anyway, although the choice to overlap random music over the footage is questionable
Well at least they finally fixed the splitter problem that the RX-7 had back in NFS2015 where if you try equipping the RB kit, the stock splitter stays in the RB kit for the RX-7.

Other than that, it's weird that they made the RX-7 a derelict (however CROWNED told me it's not a derelict). The Skyline 2000GT would've make sense since it's a very old car just like the other derelicts. Also that Police Charger being playable might be a hint on making cop cars playable in a future DLC.

Same could apply for the Cuda and the Volvos, especially the Amazon.

Hey I doubt it, considering that in every NFS game where the police make an appearance there's always hidden dump cars that look identical to (or just are) the police cars,(tp temp350, anyone?) which could be selected under specific conditions and/or cheating to be able to drive them, same applies to traffic cars.

Well I had the game a little over a week now and I can say that even though everything was kinda short. I am onto the final few bits and bobs left to platinum the game.
As I just completed all jumps 3 star.
Just have to go do the rest and then the 10 ranked and 5 events single list and I will be done.

Does this mean they're coming soon? Just for more cars that are patiently waiting in line for me to rank up

Sadly lvl 18 parts on a 299 limited car make no difference stat wise, about to drive now.

edit: No differences sadly

Edit 2: Also I put a level 12 part on the P1 with everything else 18 and despite the minimum parts the P1 will legitimately get which is 16 it still maxes at 399

^^^ I'm not sure exactly what to make of that honestly. Is it possible that the game doesn't recognize any stats for a vehicle that are lower than stock? Maybe 16 is the baseline for the car and throwing any card that's lower doesn't nerf the baseline stats at all? It's interesting for sure.

I'd say so for sure but then again no idea how a lvl 12 part still allows it to reach 399 haha. I was hoping for a simple calculation by the game when applying oarts so I could get extra or less performance out of cars to no avail.

Seeing the second video with more unavailable-to-buy-or-restore vehicles, I think I have a feeling the Volvo 242 is not quite ready yet
Just a feeling
Yes, the needless music is in this video too, and no, nobody knows why the police Ford Explorer isn't included in the final release

As for the parts predicament, maybe there are more sourcecode settings to the performance than just cards? It might be possible that the cards-you've-equipped and the performance-you-have are different codes altogether. Just guesswork though.

I am finally just about done with everything in game.
Should have platinum maybe this weekend.
Speed Zones and Drift are my last 2 things.
