New GT-R Seasonal Time Trial

the handling in a kart is much diffrent
Interesting.
What's this got to do with the GTR Time Trial?
I asked him so I'm the one to blame for being off topic and like I mentioned before, sorry.

There is currently three GTPL tagged drivers in a sandwich between two GTP tagged drivers. The times are so close .

Gonna have 20 laps of this later tonight, have a look at Dholland and IMMORTALPILOT's replays 👍

I had a look now, I haven't given this a go since setting my last time on the 26th. First time I compared my sector times and majority of the gap between top place is all in sectors 2 and 4, the other ones I think I will lose a tenth or two from the top time replays posted. I don't think I'm making use of the tyres as much as I should be in sector 2 with the 3rd gear corner as my tyres are blue after cornering while all the top times are red hot. My cornering speed is a lot lower and the chicane in sector 4 I don't carry as much speed through.

LOL, I have been keeping tabs on the top 250 for UK and it looks like DHolland took back 1st with a 1:31.420. This is one of the most competitive time trials I have seen since I started doing them. Good times.:)👍

Big congratz to Dan for taking it back :)! Well Deserved, thought I'd lost my mojo tonight redlined a .5 tons of .6's and .7's but no outstanding laps apart from 1 very good last chicane.

Then just decided to do a 10 lap stint (Turned into a tiny bit more) and starting just doing the same but got .5 in the end :), going to study my lines a bit more in T1 as im no longer hitting the 42.9's so im doing something wrong from what i used to do, but even so gotta keep going :)!

Just saw that now. Congratulations Dan on getting that top spot back 👍.

It is not as competitive as the actual GT Academy 2011 Rankings yet, I placed 326th in the EU and 60th in the UK & Ireland. I'm currently 34th & 4th respectively in this event without putting much time in it.

Yea you guys have some really great times I can only dream of lol. I pretty much am dead in the water since all I have is a DS3 and on top of that I am not as good as my GT3/4 days.

I might have cracked the top 250 IF it was back in the good ol' days, but my senses and driving style aren't as keen anymore. Haha, best of luck on the remainder of this trial for the rest of you.:)

Looking at that replay I'm pretty sure he's using SRF - which is good for me, as I set a not all that great of a lap @ 1:35 and some change with it turned off. I'm sure I can pick up a few seconds with it turned on (yes its weird, but it does increase grip). Not sure if that much but we'll see.

SRF is on automatically. There is no turning on/off.

And ugh..so close..just .006 off turismo-lester!

Thanks saidur, I certainly had to work for it. Going for that extra half a tenth when the times are pretty close to the limit already, is mentally and mechanically demanding, especially when there is a 'fluke' section at the end of the lap.

Stats: Drove 4 1'31.4xx's before the 1'31.420, drove 3 59.0xx T3 splits, drove 2 .6xx T1 splits, altered technique for the right sweeper before T2, and the entry into the corkscrew (5th gear instead of bouncing it in 4th, gains a slight advantage in speed and surprisingly, slightly easier to halt the car for the corkscrew due to braking at lower RPM's promoting stability and traction) avoided cheap grass riding tactics that give you a slight advantage, aesthetically unpleasing.

Do you think we could download this track.

Or could you make this track yourself.

What's the 'fluke' section? I know the apex of the final bend is unsighted, but I wouldn't call hitting it a fluke for a skilled driver, so I think it must refer to something else?

The last chicane is a fluke quite abit... and alot of the time it can deem amazing laps pointless. Yes it does mean the top drivers have to get a good precision but its the most vital corner on the track you can do a mediocre lap and if you get that magical chicane to perfection you'll wipe time off pretty quickly.

I've never been able to do that random chicane i did that time that was so damn quick, I've been close with a 103mph apex but it can be so fluky espec with the grass on exit.

The current laps look already look like they are on the ragged edge so like you said it is mentally demanding to get that extra half a tenth and carry it through the lap. The first corner and the chicane in the last sector is a killer as they make or break a lot of laps. I guess the track was designed in the style of the one used for the actual 2011 EU GT Academy. Annoying the custom made tracks don't have a good start of point for the 1st lap so there is no quick way to restart. Imagine the number of hours that would have saved for GT5 drivers worldwide especially for the 2011 GT Academy event.

It will be interesting to see if the times will go down further, who ever gets that lucky go where all the sectors are like PB's or close will most likely win this event. With the number of laps the other drivers are doing too, you sure got your work cut out to stay top on this. Good luck 👍.

I couldn't agree with you more. There have been countless number of times where I would just finish the lap halfway the track instead of restarting and turning all the way around to the chicane. 👎

I went from a 1:41.8 on my DFGT last night (I set that the day the event started) and raced for an hour or so on the DFGT to try and beat that to no avail... then for the heck of it I got out my standard (Logitech Precision controller - like a DS3) and 2nd lap got a 1:39.333?!?!??!

Crazy.... and the other odd thing, all those on my Friends List were all using - Controller (stick) I guess I am odd using Controller (directional buttons)...

Just something interesting I found.... Makes me wonder why I have the wheel besides its more fun, and yes I have had it for a year now... I guess its hard to beat 10 years of practice with the d-pad...

The actual tracks in the game have good start off points, shame they never thought of doing that for the custom tracks. They should make use of the night tracks and ones with rain in the next time trial. The SLS event at first was really annoying as you had to reverse but the replacement event they stopped that and that helped me find a rhythm and more pace quickly.

Apply this saying, "If in doubt, flat out". Works wonders with SRF ;). Also just watch the replays of the top 10 drivers, should gain you a good few seconds.

I got the DFGT wheel last year and was more or less after a few minutes faster than I ever was with a pad. I had been playing GT games with a pad since GT1. Pad is so frustrating for me, you know what you want to do but all steering input has to be done in advance and you can't really correct mid-corner. You have to commit 100% to corners and hope it just sticks to do a fast time. A wheel you can adjust corner entry, race pace wise I would say there is a bigger advantage for wheel users.

Agreed... I think it is the SRF because usually I am faster with the wheel... The wheel is more exact and the car isnt as jittery (I hate watching replays with me on the d-pad because you can see the front wheels going all the way left to all the way right... lol)

I usually run all the TTs on my wheel and I dont know why I chose to use the controller. It shocked me that I took 2 seconds off in really 1 lap since its not possible to get a great time on the first lap.

It is a bit strange you are faster on a pad than a wheel in an event that favours the wheel more due to SRF. Just double your steering input on the DFGT and you should go faster and make sure to go full throttle through most of the corners.

I was thinking I needed to adjust my steering sensitivity or something. I may look into that later.

GTPL_norbi_10 has gone fastest by 18 thousandths, 1:31.402.
Could we see a 1:31.3xx sooooon??????

I will be soon off the pace by a second. The top two lap drivers happened to have poor first corners where they lost crucial time. There is potential to do a 30.9XX but that lap will have to be more or less absolutely perfect to achieve that time. The top times might get down to 31.1XX soon, it is edging down at the moment, surely someone will get that lucky break? There is nearly like 3 weeks remaining still, I'm confident somone will put a super crazy fast lap in. If Dan can keep on responding like this, then he will be the one to put that crazy lap in. Tidgney could be the dark horse if you can call him that.

I could only win this event if PD gave me personally a save state and load state function update ;).
