New GT-R Seasonal Time Trial

Is this time trial by any chance a way to guage the interest that each specific SCEE region has on GT Academy (along with a way to remind everyone that the TV show is coming up?).

I hope it's one of their measures cause I'd love to have another crack at that competition.......!!!!

I will be soon off the pace by a second. The top two lap drivers happened to have poor first corners where they lost crucial time. There is potential to do a 30.9XX but that lap will have to be more or less absolutely perfect to achieve that time. The top times might get down to 31.1XX soon, it is edging down at the moment, surely someone will get that lucky break? There is nearly like 3 weeks remaining still, I'm confident somone will put a super crazy fast lap in. If Dan can keep on responding like this, then he will be the one to put that crazy lap in. Tidgney could be the dark horse if you can call him that.
I could only win this event if PD gave me personally a save state and load state function update ;).

I hope so :D! Not had much of a go past few days been busy with rally meeting (Club im apart of) work and all sorts. Will give it a go this weekend again, with some decent shouts, it is all about getting that perfect lap for that 30.9xx its definitely there but you will need alot of luck with it to nail it, but it only takes that 1 special lap.

I still go by the fact that;

1:30.9xx Perfect lap
1:31.2xx Guarenteed Podium.

Personally im seeing this as training for GT Academy if it reappears, I want to be able to be at my peak with the wheel when it comes round this time rather than doing half on a pad then learning the wheel :P. As well as time management (Not doing so well at the moment towards the latter end of the week, with fitness training and everything else).

I am quite interested as to why this TT has been put up with the settings they have set up. Personally my guesses are;

- To see the interest in static TT's
- Perhaps test a new back end system for the next GT Academy?
- Truely test the difference between SRF on and off?
- Nissan advertisement for the new GTR?

I dunno just assumptions but i presume there must be some reasoning behind it :P.

There is a new X2010 time trial too, you may want to have a go at that.

SRF off driving is quite a bit different though so I wouldn't say it is the best training for something like GT Academy ;). The competition element definately is though. You should get a DFGT too so you can practice on one although they might upgrade the wheel they use to the T500RS.

I think they put it as an event firstly for this:

To celebrate the start of broadcasting of this year's GT Academy TV show across Europe,...

The Dubai race is coming up soon too so awareness of GT Academy is good.

They also probably enabled SRF so they can fine tune it for the next GT game and also to give the perception that the GTR really "corners faster than electricity!"

True but the pressure handling (Which I thought I would be used to by now seen as though Starcraft 2 live tournaments were nervous enough) still needs to be gotten rid of.

Tonight just did a little session .6's and .7's continuous but with amazing T1's and T2's again got a 42.912 (Nearly at the .8 :D!) but messed up chicane ironically on that 1, next lap i did a slow lap nailed the chicane and was only a tenth off.... but there we go :)! I think a low .4 or less is definitely on the cards at some point this weekend just nailing it is the key!

Well IMMORTALPILOT has gone top now. Won't be long until we hit the .2XX. Had quick races with Dan earlier, was good fun getting thrown straight into the deep end, Nurburgring in the rain with dry road tyres. I haven't ran a lap on the track for probably months and same with weather. It was funny watching a top driver like Dan drive like an amateur like I was on one of the races. I think something like that will be good practice for GT Academy. Driving like Jenson Button seems the best way.

yes its hard my problem is when i make good laps iam to nervous.
i can go faster but that is my problem

Last night, I finally cleared this one for Gold. I had a Silver time slightly north of 1:42, but my Gold time was somewhat south of 1:42. It was enough to earn me the Gold. The trickiest thing about this course are how blind the corners are with some of the elevation changes. In fact, one part of the track somewhat reminds me of the Laguna Seca Corkscrew in the fact the corner is blind and goes downhill in a left-right fashion. The trickiest section is the final corner. Take it too fast, and you'll end up sliding out and have your next lap (or multiple next laps) invalidated. This course is tricky.

I have to disagree with you about the last corner. Thats my favorite part and it can be taken at full throttle, you just have to do it right. Only slid in the grass my first couple of times while learning the track.

The approach to the apex of the last corner is blind due to a slight rise, so you have to have faith in your line. A couple of times I slid off coming out of it and had a weird glitch where the game would crash and freeze, but the dust kept moving and the soundtrack kept playing. Very weird.

Thats weird about the freezing. But yea, once I got that corner figured out, I fly through there. I picked up a ton of time there in the beginning.

Haha ye still want to have a race with dan tbh we should organise a time and all meet up for some races :D!

@immortal Gz to immortal i know what you mean the pressure does it home quite quick especially when you see your T3 time its all about then not messing up that chicane which is rather annoying!

Edit: Now upto 4th :) after first stint, had about 6 .7's in a row lol. Then had a few .6's then a few baddens as concentration lapsed then few more .6's then a .4 with a good chicane :)! Ill do another stint in a few hours :)!

Edit2: Yes Finally perfecting that damn chicane!!! Just got a low redlined 31.4 and have had a 58.9 T3 :)!!!!!!! Hopefully i can get this perfect lap in and nail the first sub 31 haha but not likely but i see a .3 or .2 tonight :)! Especially if i can get a t3 of 58.9 again!!

Referring to the choice to run this trial with SRF on, I wondered wether it was to simulate the actual technology used in the real car as mentioned in this write up:
On the new Nissan GT-R an additional sensor is the yaw-rate feedback control, which measures the difference between the target yaw rate calculated from the steering angle, the actual yaw rate detected by the yaw-rate sensor and G sensor. Front and rear torque is automatically corrected accordingly.

The four-wheel drive system includes a Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC-R), the Nissan GT-R's electronic stability control system. This continually monitors the vehicle's behavior. If off balance behavior is detected - such as sliding or skidding - torque to the wheels will be altered to help stabilize the car. Electronic traction control is also fitted to rear mechanical limited slip differentials, preventing wheelspin and improving grip.

Just a thought?

@Tidgney

Awesome efforts! Look forward to some more updates from you in the coming hours and of course, to a future racing session with saidur, you, and I (great fun saidur at the nurb, I later had some really good races with tony1311 from greece who joined later along with a very pacy unknown Japanese driver and a French driver scuderia62)

I'm happy now that stupidity is not required for an on it T3, congrats IMMORTALPILOT for your current P1.

My prediction of a .2 some days ago being a good lap seem to be coming to truth, a .1xx would be something to savor for a long time, a .9xx would make CNN news. (I don't buy it that a human can run a .9xx, too many minor miracles need to take place in the space of a little over a minute).

NOW IM PEED OFF!! I've lost connection to the server and got a 1:31.391... with a very low 42.8xx T2 time!!! Saving ghost anyway because that was a sick hot lap upto T2 messed hairpin up a bit though....

I dont get it im online i just relogged but the server isn't loading the times?????

Edit: Just had to restart the entire game to get any times to appear.... That is gutting i said i'd get a .3 today got it and its not counted because of the silly PD servers.... :/

Haha well I can't wait for a racing session :)! True with the .9xx I do believe alot of luck is needed but I seem to be getting some crazy T2 and T3 times today if i got that magic chicane going would be an Awesome time!

Thats a replay I'd like to witness, low 42.8xx is really express lane stuff:tup: I'm wondering have you got a .9 split time between T1-T2?

Ill have a check of the replay now for you :), ill post the replay up in the morning of that I really can't believe the servers....

In fact i was so fired up i just did another stint improved my time twice and redlined a .363 lol. Also got a mid .6xx sector 1 which was nice :D! But that was a perfect Sector 1 never done it any better than what i did there.

42.849 (Thought it was lower but still not bad :D) it was: 21.747 and a 21.102 (I know I have been in the 0's here, thought it was faster but i just guess it was the combination of them both.) so my guess a perfect sector 1 and 2 would be 42.6xx although that would be an insane T1+T2 combo.

Just started trying this time trial yesturday. I don't usually do these but after taking part in the NASCAR one that ended a few days ago and finishing 27th, I was hooked. Keep in mind, I just recently took up road course racing (mainly raced NASCAR at Daytona and Indy) so my times arn't very good but I'm improving slowly. As of now, I'm 337th with a time of 1:35.150. May not sound like much, but its huge for me. Gonna keep at it to see just how far I can go. I hate the
assist being forced on btw.

EDIT: Well, I seem to have a brick wall as far as my times are concerned. Have been running the same lap times over and over for the past 2 hours with not even the slightest hint of improving. I have watched the top 5 replays over and over, them guys just make it look so easy. I'm not the type to give up easily but I am at a loss as to how to better my times. Just need more track time I guess. My lines are pretty much the same as the top 5, just can't pull off the turns without letting off the gas. (The first part of the course is where I'm losing the most time.) Oh well, enough rambling, back at it. Just needed a short break.

The exact thing happened to me and I posted about this a few pages earlier. Not even a restart fixed the issue. Hopefully you have gotten around it by now. I just drove in a clean lap carefully and exited the TT, hit Save button in the GT5 home (Red button the left) and restarted the PS3. Think it might have something to do with save corruption after a freeze.

After that no more freezing in that spot, where I happened to land a few more times later on :ouch: I am done with my exams in a couple of days and should be able to give this another go. Have slipped in the 100s now last I looked.:guilty: (NA server) Have more than a second left to shave off I think. 👍

@saidur: thanks what I thought you meant, but wasn't sure. :)

@Tidgney : Keep going 👍 Awesome progress. Just great to read your posts.

@Ebud007 haha glad some1 enjoys them :)!

Video is on its way of that lap that didn't count.... Still annoying but I know I can go faster than it so just have to put it to one side... Just hope it doesn't happen again!

Edit:

Heres the video:

Edit2: Straight back upto 4th this morning on a (What felt like) average lap. Lets see what today brings I said yesterday a .3 or .2 so lets go for a .2 today :D!

What kit are you using? Do you think it makes much difference?

Just a g25 with a wheel stand pro. Erm I suppose its what you are used to more than the kit involved, but I would say that the more comfort you have the better. I know the DFGT pedals suck majorly and the button shifters aren't very useful so a better wheel might help there :).

Cheers :), although for a truely amazing Last sector you should check immortals lap out he does a 32.1xx which is truely epic.

I use a blackmagic intensity pro :)!
