New GT-R Seasonal Time Trial

Just a quick question from the little guy here to the elitist gods of speed. How long have you guys been playing to get this good. Any special mods to your wheels and/or pedals that you use. Thanks to anyone that can take the time to answer my questions.

Hey,

I've played GT since GT1 when i was like 7 or 8 or something. Basically got GT1 and a playstation to stop me complaining that i was bored :P.

I dont use any mods on my g25 or its peddles. On my DS3 I do have the extensions to L2/R2 (They cost like £1 :P) to stop finger cramp when doing long periods.

I did average 50 laps a day for 4 days to get my 1:31.8xx
Using DFGT
Not that I think I'm an elitist god of speed, LoL

Edit: GTPL_X-Mato 1:31.377

I see. I've been playing since GT1 also, but wasn't into it hardcore until GT5. I may not be as good as you guys, but I will move my way up out of sheer will and determination. You see, this game is the only thing I have in life right now so I have dedicated myself to it. Sounds sad, but thats just the way it is for me right now. Thanks for your response. Appreciate your time.

Totally agree on those extensions tho - they should be standard.

As for the pedals on the dfgt, the thing I hate the most is that the brake kicks in with so much as a sparrow fart of pressure, so it's foot off, or you're braking.

Thanks for your response. That was just a smartass comment I made because all you fast guys are always talking amongst yourselves, like the presidents men or something, lol. Was meant to be humorous more than anything.

Dont worry about it happy to help any time :)! Nothing wrong with doing something you enjoy! Most of my friends/family know that when something at a competitive level comes that I'll be taking part they won't hear as much from me but they support it because its something i enjoy :)! I only play hardcore on any TT's really, mainly GT Academy and TT's like this where the field is equal. So no way is it sad, its something you enjoy that you like spending time on! 👍

Ye I kind of have nightmares about the DFGT from the national finals of GT Academy. I used to where these trainers that had really dodgy souls but meant that I could feel my G25 pedals perfectly. So took them with me put them on couldnt feel the pedals for the life of me. half the lap of suzuka I was accidently just on the brakes was very annoying. Day 2 of the finals I actually took my shoes of and ended up fastest out of the remaining people in the TT's so it really made a huge difference, its why I have such a dislike towards the pedals, theres no feel/very little feel.

xD, I laughed hard @ presidents men, hahaha. Sure people who are faster than me won't talk to me either, this is an elitist community, simliar to the stone cutters :D

I see. Its sad that its that way, but it is what it is I guess. They won't give me the time of day right now (most of them) but I bet in the future if I were to become faster than any of them, they would be stumbling over themselves trying to find out my setup or how I got that fast. Funny how that works uh?
EDIT: And I will get there, I have nothing but time, and the will to succeed, to be better than those that laughed at me in the beginning. Remember the name, because I'm comin' up!!

Sorry for OT: I dont find the GT Community elitist, in fact I've been apart of gaming communities which have true elitism, the GT community has a few trolls but generally i find everyone quite pleasant :)

From a personal point im happy to help anyone out, whether it be to go quicker, or just assistance in other ways videos and such. Its why I made the GT Academy Tutorial as I knew it would help improve people :)!

I was kidding guys :)

I saw your time on the NASCAR TT was impressive 👍
Best of luck dude!

Thanks for everyones time. I'm off to try to improve my time. Will update later. Peace everyone. I'm out.

Well just managed to get through the first corner without dropping below 131mph.... Thats the best i've ever done that corner hit 136 before turn in. The 3rd corner messed up a bit but still a low .7xx iv had .6 in the past.. Got a Low .8 from it to (.832) on T2 then completely messed up hairpin and last sector... AGAIN... Damn adrenaline and nerves!

Thanks PRIVATE. NASCAR is what I do best, just starting to branch out into other cars now. I'm liking to TT's tho. If you know of anything I can do to improve my skills, or lack there of lol, let me know. Would like to find a series to race in to match my skill level also. Thanks again bro, your not bad yourself ya know.

Although I haven't a hope of making an impression on this TT, it's still really exciting to watch the top five. The level of competitiveness is astounding and the level of skill is beyond belief.

Well done Dan on breaking the .2 and reclaiming the top spot.

Dan's done a 1:31.289. Puts GTP back at the top 👍.

The same Dan thats a mod on here? Or a different one? You guys have convinced me, I'm going to try and improve my time tonight.. :P

Congrats to Dan :)!

Not much from myself a whole host of .4's but nothing much else keep pushing to hard in the last sector now so think its tiredness wont get to many goes this week till weekend. But hopefully something will come up when i do get a go!

Haha ye still want to have a race with dan tbh we should organise a time and all meet up for some races :D!
Do some practice in the rain without rain tyres, that is all I have to say ;).
@Tidgney

Awesome efforts! Look forward to some more updates from you in the coming hours and of course, to a future racing session with saidur, you, and I (great fun saidur at the nurb, I later had some really good races with tony1311 from greece who joined later along with a very pacy unknown Japanese driver and a French driver scuderia62)

I'm happy now that stupidity is not required for an on it T3, congrats IMMORTALPILOT for your current P1.

My prediction of a .2 some days ago being a good lap seem to be coming to truth, a .1xx would be something to savor for a long time, a .9xx would make CNN news. (I don't buy it that a human can run a .9xx, too many minor miracles need to take place in the space of a little over a minute).
I was expecting you to drive off like a speeding bullet in front of me in the first few races, good to know you are Human after all ;). I heard of tony1311 before so when I saw his name come up, I was expecting super fast race pace and he delivered in the first race. Do you guys usually race in the rain then, he seemed enthusiastic for it? There was a really pacy French driver when I first went online in GT5. I would say there is a good number of really fast people who don't take part in time trials much. Real life drivers are extremely fast especially F1 drivers in driving sims. Someone like Fernando Alonso would easily place in the Top 20 in this seasonal event I predict.

Congratulations Dan on doing your first good lap :sly: (Understatement of the century). There is plenty of time left before closing of the time trial, stranger things have happened and the times already are in alien territory. Plenty of people will be trying to beat your current time now and most of the people competing for the top spot seem to be doing loads of laps with extremely fast sectors so it might be a matter of time before someone gets that lucky go where you can do no wrong.

Just a g25 with a wheel stand pro. Erm I suppose its what you are used to more than the kit involved, but I would say that the more comfort you have the better. I know the DFGT pedals suck majorly and the button shifters aren't very useful so a better wheel might help there :).
I really like the button shifters, it is like perfect for my hands.

xD, I laughed hard @ presidents men, hahaha. Sure people who are faster than me won't talk to me either, this is an elitist community, simliar to the stone cutters :D
I find elitist people on any racing game seem to the slower ones or people half-decent. Like there is cockpit user elitists, who think anyone using cockpit view would be seconds slower, or people who think using a wheel is at a big disadvantage to a pad user or to get into the top 250, people have been spending thousands of laps to get there or people who think upgrading pedals from say a DFGT to say a Fanatec wheel with ClubSport pedals will gain them in excess of 5 seconds instantly and that is the only reason why they are slower than the fastest people. Also people who attribute minor corner cutting as seconds of difference and that is the reason why they are seconds behind. That covers some slower drivers.

There are also some half-decent drivers who are quite big headed in that going around a track with some pace makes them think they are the best in the world or something and we are talking people who are probably slower than me. I'm not close to the level of F1 drivers yet regards to driving fast in driving sims and that is in repetitive hot lapping, imagine race pace. It is very humbling how good real life people are at sims and also the fastest drivers in the virtual world. Hopefully I can close the gap bit by bit one day, I consider myself medium to slow speed as in any motorsport, the gap currently between me and top will get me sacked ;).

:gtpflag:
:embarrassed: whao thats fast!!!!!

btw, IMMORTALPILOT is GTP too
I know, should have said GTP tagged driver.

Edit: I just realised on the EU leaderboard, I'm the first person over 1 second slower than Dan ;). Anyone want to compete for my spot :sly:.

Re-formulated (:sly:) technique for the right after T3, seen plenty of .1's for this sector, best T1 .682, and T2 .885, and T3 .050 (This laps sector splits, T1.805, T2.093 [PB], T3.204 [choke], T4.180)

I saw your little choke at hairpin :( felt well gutted for you but then calculated your last sector and was rather jealous instantly :P.

Nice lap though dan :)!

I tried that technique yesterday couldnt get it to work properly so might be my line so might retry it, i did notice you could gain an extra 2/3 mph from it (Think i did a 93 on it) but I found i was so tight for next bit so will retry that :P!

Dunno whether you've tried it Dan but I've been trying out staying on the grass on the exit of the chicane as it straightens the last bend out even more, rather than turning left a bit to go right. (Not that im trying to teach a master here just an idea i've been trying out :P).

Dude, you think I haven't tried that already?:dopey: It achieved equal or inferior results I found, as it compromises the grip for the following right kink, meaning you need to thread the needle even more than usual. Riding the grass down the final straight though allows me to hit 162.5km/h, rather than 162 dead at best non grass, so it gains maybe 0.025-0.035 secs If timed perfectly.

Haha wasn't sure whether you had tried so thought I'd let you know just in case :)! Cheers for the info though much appreciated! Ye noticed that myself earlier actually as I was just trying things out as you do when times get so close :P! I have such an urge to go back onto the PS3 but im up in 6 hours lol.... Must go to bed..... :)!

Congrats again tho hopefully I'll catch you up again :D!

Well, after collecting my thoughts and regrouping, I managed to make it on the leaderboards...YES!!! Currently sitting at 189th, 1:34.274. That is huge for me. Not bad for a rookie, lol. Gonna have another try after I eat.

Great time my friend, you're doing quite well for being a Nascar guy:P (Thats a compliment)

Incredible lap Dan. Same to you Tidgney. I'm looking at these youtube clips and try to replicate your lines and throttle, and just can't seem to do it. I'm stuck at 1:32 and can't seem to find the extra tenth to go below it. I can't even comprehend you guys consistently running .4's and .5's.
