New GT-R Seasonal Time Trial

Thanks jaskingt5, I see you improved yesterday too 👍
LoL, I was studying all day yesterday and then when I played gt5 I must have done 40 laps on the time trial. So addictive.

As for the top 10, I think I can get a 1:31.9xx if I can put a nice lap together :scared:
Oh man 8th position, well done! I goin to download your lap just now. I'll do few laps today as well but three bends really kill my time there.Have to do more practice.
First ten lads are driving absolutely fantastic!!!!:bowdown::cheers::gtpflag:

Running the TT, my console started freezing since last night. It works fine when I try any other race/event but on this track it freezes every time now! wtf :(

Heres the leader-board in case anyone's interested.

http://eu.gran-turismo.com/au/products/gt5/event/d38083.html

Ran session earlier today which didn't result in bringing home the goods, but managed some impressive splits, namely a .155 at T3 and a couple of .7's at T1 (with good line for the following right).

1st corner has a limit of 210kmh, was struggling a bit with the corkscrew, it appears the more you drive it, the more there is to loose and you start driving conservatively.

Here is also the North America leaderboard too:

http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/products/gt5/event/d6118.html

Getting tight at the top of the leaderboards it seems. Do you think it is possible to get under the 1:31 if you absolutely nail a lap?

The corkscrew cost me on my T1 lap with a .8 which I know is slow compared to your .7s. I'm finding it interesting how SRF works, full throttle can cost me time I find in different scenarios which has changed my approach of the first corner and also the corkscrew. I deal with MPH, much easier to manage ;).

That's quite interesting comparing the EU and US leaderboards:

#1 US 'Turismo-lester' from Canada 1:32.340
#1 EU 'GTP_DHolland' from Australia 1:31.563

Infact, Turismo-lester would be all the way down in 20th place on the EU leaderboard.

Yes I know I wouldn't be ranked very high on eu leaderboard, who cares.
I've only done about 50 laps or so.
I'm trying to win my leaderboard, that's all.
If I need to do a faster lap, I will.

Btw - My name is Mark, not Lester..... it's a joke ^^

What are your tips, Im sitting at 1:46 very poor. Im using a pad, as I cant afford a wheel.

Any tips.
Is man transmission best for this.

In an unexpected turn of events I posted a sub 1:32,
sitting on 1:31.886 :dopey:

Nice time Dan 👍
and welcome to the forum lester:sly:

Use MT and engine brake, it will get you gold for sure. 👍

That's very impressive. How you can do it that fast is beyond me honestly.

Engine break explain

GT-R is one of few cars which can engine brake on pad.
When you downshift you are deccelerating and GT-R's LSD goes into decceleration mode so you can take corners better, just downshift before corner and don't brake - you'll see the result. 👍

For any DS3 users, you are out of luck on being competitive on this time trial. Because of skid recovery being forced on you are forced to go close to full lock on the wheel, but the DS3 isn't capable of getting the same turn-in. So in theory, you are only steering half the amount you need to at times, which obviously means it's a lot slower.
Yeah its true . :(
1:34.578 with a controller using D-Pad. Think I can knock off another .5 but that would be the most. We will see.
D-pad players seems to be rare on the board...Good to see some doing well!My current best is 1'34.939 (also D-pad).👍

I tried this and end up of the track, first corner downshift and end up against the wall. What am I doing wrong here. Im new to using Manuel Transmission.

P.S From changing From Auto To Manuel I Have knock 4 Secs my time. Now A 1:42.717

For the first corner - tap the brake and downshift into 4th and hug the apex, the rest is easy.

It seems as d-pad users are a lot faster than analog users, anyways - my best on pad (analog) is 1:34.9xx and I don't see much more time going off, it'd take an alien for 1:34.0xx and 1:33.9xx is beyond alien on pad.

What is your sensitivity up to on your pad settings, mine is 7

Dont worry bro, we know yer world class ;)

Would you say using a wheel would give you a faster time or is there not much difference. I need to find about 8secs to be happy.

This TT is deffo wheel only (if you want to go for the leaderboard), wheel's much faster here.

How come there is so much between wheel and pad. Don't PD understand some of us can't afford it or have no room.

They do actually, there's a reason the game can be played with both a wheel and a controller.. And both are possible to drive fast with.

Agreed mate

Why do PD not create 2 different leaderboards, one for wheel & one for pad users ?... It cant be that hard, or can it ?

So the SRF is in the wheel users favour. I love using my pad. Do you think its possible to be as quick with a pad. It must be.

Download a replay and try and watch his lines, also weight shifting is the key to this one I think, get into a rhythm of shifting the weight of the car so it's already starting to move into the line for the next corner, remember the slalom events on the licence tests, it's kind of hard to explain but easier to watch on the replays.

I'm sitting on 1.37 myself and using a pad and on automatic too so it can be done. Theres definately room for improvement too.

Watching lester-turismo's (sp?) ghost helped me. I was trying to be too smooth. With SRF its sometimes best to adjust your car suddenly, let the SRF catch it, then accelerate on.

I can't take the same line he does with my DS3. I just can't turn as sharply. Usually this isn't a problem but with SRF it destroys my chances. My best logged time is 1.35.9xx. I hit 1.35.7xx but my connection sucks so it didn't get recorded.

To those who adjust the sensitivity: does a setting of 7 help?
