New GT-R Seasonal Time Trial

Yeah.. lol. Welcome to the world of SRF. It rewards you for overdriving the car. I figured spending time here would give me bad habits, so I stopped. I may not be able to resist the competition though. Must not go back, must not go back.....

SRF....WTF?? :grumpy:👎👎

It is like a NFS game and ruins the simulation. With a wheel it feels all wrong. It might make the game "eaiser" for people that dont like to break properly for turns, but I dont like it on for a time trial like this. I would like to see the top drivers shine, and NONE of the good player use SRF.

I stopped playing too. Playing with SRF kills the feel of the cars and the realistic driving model that I love about GT5.

Going on about the specs for the compo is just head shaking, who cares, just get the car and move on or pound hard and try to get on the board. New ropes will always get complaints by the one being hung aparently......

I never said I wasn't going to do it. Plus I feel like a doofus now because I actually enjoyed doing it. :P Got a 1:37.XXX after 3 laps. Then I wanted to get my new livery GTR.

Oh :dunce: its just that your comment was the first I saw where someone was complaining about SRF.

Just shut up with "why SRF" complaints and do/do not do the damn challenge.
All this fuss about SRF reminds me of the Chicago cut on DC seasonal, and I said right from the start that the cut only gives you 0.3 seconds, yet people were crying as if it adds 50.
Woop de doo - who was first with cut? EDDSKILL.
Who was first without? EDDSKILL.
Same goes with this seasonal - SRF off or on - top guys will stay on top.

I think the track was great, very fast corners. I disliked the force S.R., but once you get passed it, it's not bad. One other I thought was good was the 90's Japanese races course, also fast.

For any DS3 users, you are out of luck on being competitive on this time trial. Because of skid recovery being forced on you are forced to go close to full lock on the wheel, but the DS3 isn't capable of getting the same turn-in. So in theory, you are only steering half the amount you need to at times, which obviously means it's a lot slower.

I'll have to get used to the DFGT wheel, currently like 2.5 seconds off the pace :dunce:

I thought this would be the case. I saw Dan's replay and thought no way can a DS3 user do that. I think this combo suits Dan Holland quite a lot even though he is fast on any combo anyway but this one requires a lot of aggression but controlled which he is extremely good at.

Also I think this is probably one of the hardest time trials due to SRF. You have to drive beyond the limit of the car without really knowing the limit if you know what I mean. The track also makes things harder. Normally it is easy to get in the top 100 or so after a few laps but this will probably take a good session to find out the magic limit of the track.

Got to 66th last night. Now I am at 79th and changing.
Pulled a 1:35.078. Not bad for using a controller.
Better yet I am the fastest so far with using the pad instead of the stick. Never got used to the stick for some reason.
Gotta take a day off cause my thumbs are killing me :(
Too bad top 10, 50, or 100 don't get anything. I think they should at least throw in some helmets, suits, or even a car, I mean it's not that hard right?

Yeah, I noticed the top guys with wheels were able to control their cars differently. I know I can drop about another .5 if I want to spend more time on it. Ahh hell, who am I kidding, of course I am going to try :)

The Time Trial is good but with the skip recovery force it's very I don't like, isn't realistic...

I have play 20 min today and my best lap is 1'33.335 but in the session I can do 1'32.4 (I have play with the pad Monday, I have learn the track)

Sorry I don't speek good english.

1:32.2xx..... Was up on dans first sector to think theres another tenth or even 2 with a perfect first sector just cant grasp that hairpin and the entrance to the chicane at the moment 2 places im losing time.. But not bad being only 2 tenths down going into the chicane on some laps so once thats nailed should have a shout :).

This wasn't as easy as I thought, but after 5 or so laps I got used to the track and beat it. Got like 5000 place than did another lap and got only 0.400 better and moved up to 4000 place lol. I got gold so didn't bother trying to get real good just funny such a small difference in time moves up 1000 spots lol

PR1VATEJ0KER
Just had 20 laps, took 6 tenths off, sitting on a 1:32.517.
Plenty of time left in it

Wow you are so patient mates! I can't imagine doing that much laps on a circuit i really don't like.

SlyckTires
I didn't like it at first, but it's grown on me. Still can't get within 5 sec of the fastest tho.

I did a 1:41:722 and since it's enough to have gold, it's good for me. Need time to play MW3 too!

Within top 10,000 with a time of 1:41.601, can take off more if i need to but i hope i stay in the top ten k

I like the tracka and the bonus of a FREE CAR!!! The track is a really smooth track and the blind turns are a very nice addition. It's one that I can do over and over! I did a frew laps on it, I pulled of a 1.45.XX. got as high as top 7k. but that was last night.

will give this a good go over the weekend, i got gold but need to learn the track.

#1604 overall using a controller. I can't believe how fast you wheel drivers can be. There plenty of controller users in front of me to catch, though. Coming for you guys!

I got up to 75th place, somewhere around 1:35 or 1:36, as of about an hour ago.

SRF is weird. I had avoided it on general principle, before. Now I have a specific reason: It sucks.

I wondr if PD will force ABS or TC off rather than forcing aids on.

I wouldn't be surprised.

While I don't particularly like SRF, I'm still giving this whole thing a go and having fun while I'm at it. My 75th position eroded to 180th overnight. I clocked a 1:35.120 to put me back into 89th, which has now eroded to 102nd as of this writing.

Glad to see so much activity in the time trial!

I personally found this to be ridiculously easy and I don't really care much for the GTR's. Took me 5 laps to record a 1:34.5xx (I think it was) position #33 at the time.

Hey guys, I really hooked up a good one this morning, but having said that there is still a few more tenths to chase, mainly in T1. I must say it's one of the best tracks of driven on, very challenging, negotiating the s sections at the start requires immense commitment and rythm, seen a few .8's there at T1. But linking it all up in one lap is a different story. Does anyone want me to create a video of the 31.691 l

I am not sure I understand why you would say who cares? Obviously many of us care that SRF is forced on. I play GT5 not just to be ranked on a time trial. I play GT5 because it gives me the feeling of a simulation, and that I can improve my driving skills.

But I won't say I don't like competition. Which is why I am torn on this one.

I never said I wasn't number 1 because SRF was on. I don't think anyone has made that comment. I never said it was a competitive disadvantage for me or anyone else.

What I am saying, is that I am surprised that some of you have no problems with SRF on. I have to say I agree with some comments that SRF is arcadey and like a need for speed game. I would think most gtplanet and GT5 racers would enjoy competitions that are as simulation-like as possible.

I will agree that the best will be the best no matter the rules. But remember many of the top 10, 100, 1000, 10,000 in the world do not compete in these time trials. Most likely even less, considering SRF is on. It would be great if these attracted everyone, and a top 50, or top 10 finish meant you really were the top in the world.

I don't want to take anything away from Mr. "Formulations", lol, he is truly an alien, and has proved it many times over.

But for "insert word here" sakes, why turn on an arcade setting on what is supposed to be a simulation game. So yes SRF is dissapointing. But please don't just write off our feeling of SRF as being a bunch of whiners that just can't compete.

This was really a no-challenge at all. I am a G25 driver all the way, tried driving a few times with pad, but it was just plain hopeless (My motoric skills with pad are simply awful). But for this event I just wanted to check out and tried in on pad in order just to get the car. I golded it ... on lap 3 with 1:41.3 ... OK, laps 1 and 2 were red in 1:48 range, as I went off.

Seriously, this was one of the worst "challenges" ever...

Still hats of to guys on top (D. Holland & co.). Checked some replays and it is just great to see such commitment.
