Yes, but this is PD we're talking about. It belongs in Gr.X, but so do the '08 GT500s and the Gr.C era race cars. Knowing how PD do things, it'll end up in Gr.3, where the E92 GT2 and Ford GT LM both don't belong as well... oh, and the 991 RSR and Supra Concept shouldn't be Gr.3 as they're GTE spec.
The F1 ending up in Group 3 would be fine with me. If we can have GT2/GTE cars in there and whatever the Ford GT is supposed to be I don't see why not. Though I'm curious if it'll end up in Group 2. Though I have my doubts about it being able to keep up with modern GT500s.

Yeah, its a pointless inclusion if so, to be honest. PD at least started the game with the right idea with Group 3 and 4, they're losing focus now though.
It's okay to add a car (F1 GTR) that does not belong to any 'racing' group. The Group 3 and 4 will not be affected by this.

It's chassis 01R and only 01R. No other F1 GTR carried the bonnet mounted curb lights (other McLaren teams at LM1995 laughed at them at first).

And as far as the disappointment goes that it's not a Longtail, 01R was the last true road based car to win LM outright.

One day I hope we get the Porsche 911 GT1 and replicate this.

Yes I hope PD gives us a custom grid tool for the lobbies and for sport mode.

With sport mode if they can replicate the GT1 class all they can do is place a restriction and say these certain cars are allowed in the race instead of new class if they dont want to do it

Problem is, PD haven't even added this feature offline. We only have multi-class in a couple Campaign Mode events. I can't see them doing such a thing for Sport Mode. I feel PD think it's more general to include all race cars in a particular group, Though I do hope/wish, like you, we will get the option to choose which cars race against each other.

Personally I hoped it would be the F1 GT Longtail road version, but it's probably just the old F1 GTR. Same thing with the Huayra - I hope it would be the BC but it's just going to be the base model. The other 3 cars are not very inspiring for me. At least it's not going to be an expensive update. Looking forward to what new track might come but I'm not holding my breath for that either.

Between updates getting smaller, stagnant mileage exchange and the same daily races again and again, is this the beginning of the end for GTS?

Since you missed my point, my issue is that random cars that belong neither here nor there don't add as much value to a game as they could if they can't be raced against other cars in the same category.

Actually there might possibly be.
Not only was there the premium '89 Eunos roadster, but there is also a '91 Eunos Roadster J-Limited available in Sunburst Yellow.
It could be that car but I'm thinking it's going to be the 1989.

You, know? I'll accept that. Again, when the '65 Cooper arrived, I thought it would be a "normal" one. Came with rally skid plates and roll cage. The Porsche 356 comes with roll cage. Maybe we do get one of the special models with wood steering wheel & shift knob, front lower spoiler, etc.

Project Cars and Toca Race Driver are the only racing games that can at least put cars in the right classes.

PD logic lets just put this GT1 car in GRx and problem solved what a waste.

TOCA Race Driver is fine, though Project Cars just falls flat IMHO. I have PCars 2 myself, and it just feels seriously flat. Yes, there's large amount of cars (including paid-DLC cars,, but the excitement just really isn't there.

Your point fits perfectly into a game like iRacing, for example. But in Gran Turismo, anything can happen...

The Miata will probably be a 1.6, which is a bid sad imo because the ND we have in game is already not the fastest version available. I'd love to get a ND 2.0 or a NA 1.6 in game because a LSD really makes those cars better.

I see your point, but I'm fairly certain based on past additions that PD is going to fit this car into Gr.3. If they're going to fit Group C race cars in the same class as LMP1s, 2008 GT500 cars in the same class as 2018 GT500 Cars, and a Ford GT LM into Gr.3. Then it's likely the Mclaren F1 GTR will end up having a similar fate.

The Mclaren probably won't be the last of that either, I bet there's other premium 1990s race cars following in the later updates that would be treated the same way.

Once again (and now I'm a broken record), this is why PD could just (and REALLY SHOULD IMO) add new classes for the game in general. If they just implemented classes based on era, then they could easily add variety to Sport Mode on race types and give existing cars their own group to belong to instead of Gr.X.

Agreed, it will look out of place having a 20 year difference between other cars in the field but certainly won't be the worst shoehorning we've seen. Personally I am a little sick of only having two racing categories take up 80% of Sport Mode.

Holy SNAPS! First time I've ever seen that one and I've been playing the game since the first GT! A damn shame. That's like the N200/"Gr.4" racer

Can say I find pc/pc2 does pump me up more than GTs have, but that's because piano music in the BGM puts me to sleep.
I've never fallen asleep playing PC1/2. Gran Turismo has put me to sleep since GT5. I still fade a bit in GT Sport Arcade and Custom races. Sport Mode I'm wide awake.

True, but even if I were a fan of the car I'd still be unhappy that (with one glorious exception) there are only cars from 2016 and before in the game and instead of adding newer ones via updates, they keep adding old and recycled stuff.

I couldn't care less about whether those updates are free or not. I'd happily pay for an expensive dlc if it contained cars that are actually new and/or more race cars.

Why does it matter they bring back some cars from gt6. If it is good cars, and fan favorites its not a bad idea, with your logic i could never see Corvette C5, c6 and Lexus lfa return. It does not matter if they was in gt6 some cars just needs to come back. And to be honest i tales far less time to bring back gt6 premiums than building a car from scratch. They have Also bring new car to the series. People just like to complain thats the way it is today, some people will never be happy no matter what they add
More super cars is not a bad thing. And we need more HyperCars more than Any other car type in the game

yeah its been too long so even 5 cars and you usual track leagues scapes track experience is enough until another 4 weeks...

the curb lights are there so they can more easily see the track edges in the night?

Makes sense, I mean if you're doing ANY 24hr race it cant hurt and would really help on say the Nordschleife.

Also mad race tape there.

Yes the lights were for seeing the apex of corners and lights aimed in such a fashion are generally "curb lights" (look at any endurance spec GT and those small lights in the bumpers are the same thing).

Lanzante made the piece and were the only ones to use it, some say it helped JJ Lehto thru the rain in the night.

I wouldn't mind the Sepang circuit. Would work well for Gr.2, Gr.1, W08 and F1500.
