Plus you would think that RGIII would never have wanted to be pulled out of the game anyway. You think RGIII would want to go sit on the bench in a playoff game down a score with the home crown chanting your name?

When you have a lead of 14 points and you're too hurt to help your team at all...yes.

My Opinion:
I honestly believe that if RGIII has sustained an ACL and/or MCL injury, Mike Shanahan should be fired as coach of the Washington Redskins.

I am hearing rumors that it is not just a torn ACL, but a torn MCL as well. If that is the case, he could be out until mid 2014 NFL Season :nervous:.

Are you insane?

Mike Shanahan was in a sticky situation: Start RG3, you're screwed, Sit RG3, you're screwed. He's a two time Super Bowl winning coach for God's sake! And you want him FIRED???

Not starting or sitting RGIII to begin the game, but certainly in the 3rd Quarter. I have my reasons for believing so now with RGIII likely gone for a while.

Thought I should share.

RGIII told the coaches he was "hurting but not injured" and that he would disobey coaches if they told him to sit out the second half.

So down 3 points coming out of halftime and Shanahan makes the decision to force RGIII to sit because of a potential risk of injury and then the Redskins go on to lose (do you really think Kirk the backup rookie could beat the Seahawks D?) and after the game RGIII says to the media, "I was forced to be benched by Coach even though I wanted to be out there. I was feeling hurt but I still felt I could play."

Oh, I'm sure everyone will praise Shanahan for forcing RGIII to sit, yup. They'd have to because everyone is calling for his head for playing RGIII.
I guess Shanahan shoulda benched him. :dunce:

How is he insane? Rumors saying RG3 has torn his ACl and MCL. Why risk that in his rookie season. Not like they would've won another playoff game anyways.

Bringing up the fact to fire a two time winning Super Bowl coach, that's the part I don't get. If Dan Snyder actually did that, it may be his dumbest move ever in a history of dumb moves.

Just finished discussing this on my Redskins fan page last night.

It is a tough situation. You bench him, you get hell. You don't, you get hell from media.

Personally, I support Mike Shanahan as the head coach of the Washington Redskins, besides, the training staff did clear RG3 to return to the game...

Would I have continued to play him after the second td that put the Skins up 14-0? No.

Especially because of Ngata's late hit on RG3 after the play. A 2 score lead with Cousins (who has shown he can clearly play when called upon) and a defense that has played aggressive during the seven game win streak? I would not have left my franchise qb who was clearly in pain in the game.

That's a failure on the part of the training and coaching staff.

However with that said, Shanahan has rebuilt this offense, and I expect the defense to get a similar overhaul in the off season. I mean a coach that can light a fire under a 3-6 team who looked like once again they were headed for another ****** season to a 10-6 playoff team when his offense and defense had major players injured for most of the time (Garcon, Fred Davis on offense. Orakpo, Carriker, Meriweather on defense) and had to bring in a kicker mid season with no previous nfl experience because Billy Cundiff is a hack, I'd at least give him one more season.

Would I bring back Kyle Shanahan as an offensive coordinator? Heck yes. As we have seen this season, this offense has been as stated earlier, completely transformed. It has been molded to fit the strengths of our franchise qb, and as shown when Cousins started against the Browns, can be adapted to suit a more traditional quarterback while still keeping the core of the playbook intact. I mean, Washington was 1st in rushing yards per game, and 5th in total offensive yards per game, and 4th in average points per game. There is no reason not to re sign him.

The defense was once again an issue in Washington, Haslett did a poor job with the passing defense this year again, as the team had the 30th ranked passing defense in the league. Really this can be attributed to multiple factors, the aggressive style of defense Haslett runs with a lot of blitzes, means you'll get burned quite a bit. However, the defense did it's job stopping opponents in key situations when called upon, and really that's all that was necessary. I would not keep him as a defensive coordinator though.

Tannehill is like the forgotten stepchild.
12 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, 76.1 qbr :yuck:.

The stat line doesn't tell the whole story. Most of the INTs were thanks to JJ Watt, with a lot of the others coming from WRs running the wrong routes or falling down on the route.

Tannehill did the best job factoring in the talent around him. Beat Russel Wilson too.

Andrew Luck is far and away the best rookie QB though. It's not even close.

This is why RG3's knees suck.

I am a strength and conditioning specialist. My subspecialty is injury prevention, and my focus within that is knees. This is my takeaway from watching Griffin this year. It's a good/bad scenario.

Robert Griffin has a movement issue that causes dynamic valgus stress in both knees. You could see it clearly in the strip fumble earlier in the season when he went down on both knees. You can see it clearly in his SUBWAY training commercial when he does the vertical jump.

What happens is that when his knee bends, through some weakness in the hip, or anatomical pattern, or ligamentous laxity, or pronation at the ankle or some combination of factors, the knee drifts inwards of the hip and foot. I.E. His final fall. This causes repeatd MCL/ACL stress and is a mess to deal with.

The good that will come of this, if there are any competent trainers in the Washington stable, is that the recovery from those ligament injuries will introduce him to the necessary stability exercises he should have been doing before. If this is not obsessively addressed, however, he will continue to have problems with his knees.

Valgus knee tracking is BAD BAD BAD. When I first saw this commercial I groaned. How do they let these kids develop habits like these? On the play that did him in during the playoff game, you can clearly see his knee finally buckle, giving way medially to the valgus stress applied. If he doesn't fix that motion, his other knee is going to be the next one to go, and his career will be over.

Games to watch for me: Packers at 49rs and Texans at Patriots.

Texans need to play HAM if they want to eek out a win in Foxborough during playoffs.

And then, there were eight. This weekend's Divisional matches:

* Baltimore Ravens at Denver Broncos (AFC Div. Match)
* Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers (NFC Div. Match)
* Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons (NFC Div. Match)
* Houston Texans at New England Patriots (AFC Div. Match)

Good luck to all eight teams this weekend.

Confirmed. ACL and MCL tear.

(I don't think Shanahan should be fired)

Where did you see that. I knew LCL was torn. If he tore all 3 he just hit the worst trifecta possible.

Ryan Tannehill just signed a shoe deal with Jordan.

New Air Tannehills coming your way...

More knees talk:

Could we not see this coming? Look at how bad that movement is. Notice the knees collapsing inward. Compare to Andrew Luck, who actually has great mobility, properly-tracking knees, and consequently jumped further than Griffin was able to.

Notice the knees pushing out instead of in. And, more, Luck wears a brace on gameday.

Compare to the pic of Griffin scrambling above. When you make cuts like he does with a knee geometry like he has, you'd probably blow a knee even with a brace over it. Instead, Luck has proper form and braces for extra protection. I can't believe nobody noticed this in Washington before the injury happened.

Mother of God...

Denver's secondary looks like a group of physically challenged middle schoolers.

My god, I hate the Broncos. I live in Colorado. Broncos are GOD. They are the best team to play any sport at any time. Peyton Manning and Eric Decker could have beat the '72 Dolphins single handed.

Come on Broncs. Loss the game so I can move on to hearing Colorado blame everything on the refs.

 I want Baltimore to win cause I like Flacco and Vonta Leach went to ECU.

Great game. Thank the lords for the finish.

It's a great day when Peyton Manning's team loses. I hate that guy. Good on Baltimore!

You don't normally see Peyton choke like that though.

Now let's have the Texans beat New England tomorrow and the AFC side will be what I wanted.

Kaepernick needs to win tonight and the Seahawks tomorrow, then I'll be happy with any eventual winner. The Falcons wouldn't hurt my feelings though. Just anyone except New England.
