My Opinion:
I honestly believe that if RGIII has sustained an ACL and/or MCL injury, Mike Shanahan should be fired as coach of the Washington Redskins.
I am hearing rumors that it is not just a torn ACL, but a torn MCL as well. If that is the case, he could be out until mid 2014 NFL Season

.
Just finished discussing this on my Redskins fan page last night.
It is a tough situation. You bench him, you get hell. You don't, you get hell from media.
Personally, I support Mike Shanahan as the head coach of the Washington Redskins, besides, the training staff did clear RG3 to return to the game...
Would I have continued to play him after the second td that put the Skins up 14-0? No.
Especially because of Ngata's late hit on RG3 after the play. A 2 score lead with Cousins (who has shown he can clearly play when called upon) and a defense that has played aggressive during the seven game win streak? I would not have left my franchise qb who was clearly in pain in the game.
That's a failure on the part of the training and coaching staff.
However with that said, Shanahan has rebuilt this offense, and I expect the defense to get a similar overhaul in the off season. I mean a coach that can light a fire under a 3-6 team who looked like once again they were headed for another ****** season to a 10-6 playoff team when his offense and defense had major players injured for most of the time (Garcon, Fred Davis on offense. Orakpo, Carriker, Meriweather on defense) and had to bring in a kicker mid season with no previous nfl experience because Billy Cundiff is a hack, I'd at least give him one more season.
Would I bring back Kyle Shanahan as an offensive coordinator? Heck yes. As we have seen this season, this offense has been as stated earlier, completely transformed. It has been molded to fit the strengths of our franchise qb, and as shown when Cousins started against the Browns, can be adapted to suit a more traditional quarterback while still keeping the core of the playbook intact. I mean, Washington was 1st in rushing yards per game, and 5th in total offensive yards per game, and 4th in average points per game. There is no reason not to re sign him.
The defense was once again an issue in Washington, Haslett did a poor job with the passing defense this year again, as the team had the 30th ranked passing defense in the league. Really this can be attributed to multiple factors, the aggressive style of defense Haslett runs with a lot of blitzes, means you'll get burned quite a bit. However, the defense did it's job stopping opponents in key situations when called upon, and really that's all that was necessary. I would not keep him as a defensive coordinator though.
Tannehill is like the forgotten stepchild.
