The MVP award is usually only given to the player with the most appealing statistics. Or whoever the winning team's quarterback is.
The NFL feels that the MVP should only be given to players who people have heard of. If somehow Chris Matthews got the GW TD the MVP would have gone to.... Clay Matthews.

I had never heard of Bobby Wagner. He got the MVP last year because he made the tide-turning play. Same thing with Santonio Holmes. Let's face it: Tom Brady got the MVP because the league swings from Bob Kraft's mottled, veiny sack; they want Brady to be the NFL's golden boy and overtake Joe Montana.

The more I put thought into it, the more I think that all sports are trying to have their own "golden boy" whom the league kisses said athlete's behind.

All I can say is I'm glad that it was this NFL season when I was in France and hardly followed the league at all. Controversy after controversy and domestic violence and 2 weeks of Tom Brady's soft balls and then the Pats won the Super Bowl. Brutal.

It was Malcolm Smith.

Well at least I screwed up in a way that furthers my point.

THIS JUST IN...

Ed Sabol, the founder of NFL Films, has died at the age of 98. Anyone who has seen just about ANY NFL Film knows what they bring. Great entertainment. My thoughts and prayers go out in loving memory of Ed Sabol and all whom have known and loved him.

The Bleacher Report is reporting that the Dolphins are interested in Ryan Tannehill's services to the tune of $105 million for 7 years, two years are guaranteed. That should boil down to roughly $15 million a year should he stick with the team for all 7 years. Optimum Scouting says that the proposed terms are comparable to Andy Dalton's new contract.

Chargers and Raiders want to share a stadium in LA now. Weird.

I think that was always the plan between those two teams (I remember bringing it up quite a few pages ago) on the contingent that either the Chargers or the Raiders swap out with a NFC West team to allow the two teams to share the stadium. The move is rare, but it shouldn't be surprising especially considering that the Jets and the Giants also share a stadium.

@AdamSchefter
Filed to ESPN: Bills have notified LB Kiko Alonso he is going to be traded to Philadelphia for RB LeSean McCoy. Trade official next week.

I don't think I've seen a trade this big in the NFL.

Holy crap. Seriously? LeSean McCoy is going to get destroyed in Rex's system. He's going to run McCoy into the ground, and it will all be for short, crap yardage since McCoy fluorished in Kelly's inside/outside zone read.

We should be laughing. Buffalo will flounder.

Buzz here in Houston is about Andre Johnson wanting to go elsewhere. Not sure who he'd sign up with when he goes on the market, but he'll boost almost any team's passing game catching passes like the boss that he is. Personally, I'd like to see him play for any other team... except Dallas and except Tennessee (as a Texans fan, of course). Basically, any team besides a Texans' rival.

You're not gonna like this, but the Colts & Johnson are mutually interested in each other

There was a Facebook article on how he'd fit well with Seattle. Basically it said the Hawks would get a big-named receiver they've been lacking, and Andre would finally get a legit shot at a Super Bowl.

Chris Myers was also let go by the Texans in addition to Andre Johnson. He's been solid on the O-Line for the Texans playing Center. He handled the news with class and respect. A real good guy. Sad to see him go.

I guess for the Texans, it's all about making due with the likes of Arian Foster, the emerging DeAndre Hopkins, and J.J. Watt. I am also hoping JaDeveon Clowney can stay healthy and be more productive. This is basically a new era for the Texans. Maybe the Texans can get a little more help in the passing game. Maybe bring in some more defensive help as well. We'll see what the Texans do in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Looks like Brandon Marshall will be traded to the Jets. Not sure who is going to throw him the ball there.

Depending on how old he is, Dallas may want another center.

I'm betting Mariota.
If the Jets are able to draft Mariota then I think it will be Foles. I cannot see the Jets holding onto Mariota in a system that he may not do well in. If Mariota falls to 6, then the Jets will get Foles + picks from the Eagles.

Exactly my thoughts, just look at what Kelly did to get his former player in Alonso. The Jets just need to hope nothing happens before they get on the clock or it will be Geno throwing again.

It looks like they are not interested in Mariotta.(at least that what the papers hint at) I think they will go with Geno again hopefully they draft or bring in a veteran QB to compete with him. To be honest if they trade the 6th pick to Philly I'm not sure if I would take Foles. Granted he is better than Geno but my concern is that he is a product of Chip Kelly's system. If Chip Kelly is supposed to be a QB guru why is he getting rid of Foles? I hope the Texans cut Fitzpatrick, he knows Gailey's system and he definitely compete with Geno for the starting job. It will be interesting to see how things turn out. No more complaints about not having any weapons. They still have o line and secondary issues but I think the trade for Marshall is a good move as only this year's salary is guaranteed and they cut him next year w/o any issues if things don't work out.

Chip Kelly will do anything in his power to aquire Marcus Mariota, unless it involves getting rid of any of the 9 former Oregon players currently on the Eagles roster.
