Wow being able to select my own paint, I feel spoiled.

From that vid is it possible to have four different wheels? Seemed odd at the end.

Yes and he confirmed in the comments that he plays the xbox version.

Nice. Presumably the PS3 version will be roughly the same, and that makes me a very happy panda. I think it looks very good, the interior of the car, the dark, shadowed corners, the lush greenery of the surroundings. Really helps make you feel present in the location.

It's mostly like the same as the original; you can have different front and rear wheels.

On a different note, I hate gameplay videos where the person playing focuses on things no one gives a crap about. I can paint my car in multiple tones - big deal. Move on. :dunce:

There are marbles on the track! That's bloody fantastic. :D

The SLS doesn't quite sound like an SLS from that view, but at least you can definitely tell it's packing a V8 under the hood.

Yeah, doesn't sound quite a throaty as I remember, but it's certainly a decent rendition. Going away from you it sounds pretty nice.

The replay looks great though. Great camera angles, less of the "extreme" shaky camera stuff from Shift 1. Track and car look excellent. Marbles look pretty good. Love the noise of them getting kicked up.

Apart from that side mirror clipping again, the game looks gorgeous, sounds awesome and seems to feel just right. Everything I expected GT5 to be. I love the details: bug splats, smooth shadows, journalists, grid girls, lively crowd... and it appears they paid a lot of attention to them. The yellowish tones can be down to the sunset and this again is very nicely rendered. Can't wait! Their Nordschleife also makes me want to just race it for hours on end. And yes, as Bathurst, it's exactly the right width!

^ +1

I also like the first replay camera of the SLS from the chopper where you can actually hear it flying around, nice touch, and the leaves being blown around on Nordscheife, and wiper/mirror/hood vibrations at speed. It certainly looks like they've really added some nice touches :)

I don't know why people are complaining about the lighting, it's clearly at dusk, and depending on the TV/Screen settings may have contrast up too high/colour temp off etc...

Every new bit of information I hear/see about this game just makes me want it more urgently!

And here it comes with Elite Handling Model
wonder if thats the final version?! Because the Nordschleife looks bad !

OMG !!! This looks stunning :scared: But tester sucks ass, he is slow!!! :sly: I can't wait now no laid my hands on Shift 2

I think the yellow tone is designed to take away some of the clinical-ness of GT5s lighting system. You know, how everything looks like it's sitting under fluorescent lights in a showroom. Makes everything look a bit warmer and softer.

But seriously, looks awesome. I'd have loved to have seen him play with the replay controls a bit. FF, RWD, pause, maybe a bit of photomode, maybe even some Youtube exporting?

Love that they kept the corner mastering system too. Great little side game that, going back and trying to master every single corner.

I've just borrow Shift 1 from my friend, know he had it but never had time to explore full game and not three weeks before Shift 2 i will have some that missing fun and prepare myself for next awesomeness :)

It's easy to spot graphic improvement!!! The track on X3600 looks amazing, I've wonder how good it will look on ps3 :dopey:

maybe like this ;)

The level of detail and things on track is very high, maybe too much for actual consoles, and this is not only a SMS issue. PD created a graphic engine suitable for ps4, the shadow in GT5 are clearly reduced in detalis to fit into ps3 hardware. From what I've seen so far I think it will be the same for Shift 2, there are tons of details but the replay frame rate seems to slow down a bit sometimes. Maybe it's just me, maybe it's youtube, maybe the ps3 version will be slightly different I know it's not time of conclusions, just sayin, what do you think?

Bodykits and more customisation.

Thats has to be worst Nurbrugring I've seen in a game, the road looks so flat. I can't really relate it to the real thing :/

You're right, there's a couple of moments of stutter. It's not massive, and it's certainly a step up from some of the graphical shenanigans that were in Shift 1, but it's there. Hopefully there's something going on in replays that isn't going on in race to cause that. GT5 slaps on all sorts of post-processing in the replays to make them look shiny and nice, so perhaps Shift 2 is doing the same.

It might also indicate (and this is an area I don't know much about) V-Sync being on? The fact that it's actually dropping frames instead of tearing. Have I got that right? I'm not sure which I'd prefer, as they're both kind of bad, but it'll be interesting to see.

wow, great details...just seeing the wing go up and down depending on speed and seeing the brakes go red and tires deform when doing hard turns, suspension seems great too. love the track too, fences look great and public alive. damn that there is 3weeks left :)

I wonder if that dude could get punished or something. I mean it's 3 weeks left and he leaks all the gameplay on youtube. I wonder that EA didnt take the videos down yet.

I wonder that we dont drive on an asphalt with the EA logo, I mean you only see EA logos and no asphalt and in an car that has an EA interrior...

The tracks loook so BS, this game is made for Arcade fans who dont care anything about originality...

In that way GT5 is untouchable, gives you the exact feeling of each track...

How are you saying that with a straight face when GT5's laguna Seca and is tsukuba just equally as flat and unoriginal.

So all the PC Sims are also for Arcade Fans? Because the tracks look waaay bader in them :dunce:
Interesting conclusion really...

The difference is GT5's version of those tracks resemble the real things, the Shift Ring doesn't, the road is so flat looking, lacking all the cambers and angles you expect on the Nurburgring

Originality should not be in the motivating factor when re-creating a real world track.

No I mean the ad´s and all the other stuff that makes each track unique... In EA games you see EA ad´s all 100 meters...

PD implement all original ad´s from each track. Only on fictional tracks they put some PD ad´s in...

mykem
Originality should not be in the motivating factor when re-creating a real world track.

One of the motivating factors should be time constraints.
Yes I'm sure SMS could spend 10 years modeling tracks and ignore other areas.

I much prefer a rounded game which is good in all areas than a game that excels in some areas, sub par in others and totally ignores staple features.

As for GT being original, it was 10 years ago.

The Chasecam is really strange it makes the game look weird.
But well the dude was driving full throttle ..
look at the barrel roll and damage

at 1:05 min !

I agree, chase-cam doesn't seem to do the game any favours. But that barrel roll was pretty awesome, it's been awhile since I've seen damage like that. 👍

Yep. The Nordschleife in the videos look like a random track with Nord-like layout.
