watching the video dint' make me realize how immersive is shift but i did realize how bad and out of this world looks gt5, what a piece of crap.

It's starting to look to me as SMS/EA are bragging/showing off about/their Shift2/ race game. Looking at the videos, Shift 2 doesn't look that much better than Forza and GT, if at all.
I'm loosing interest in Shift2 by the minute.

If SMS was as good in replying to emails and helping out potential customers as developing a game, I'd be very happy. It seems that SMS doesn't care about customers at all.

Compare the off-gas sound from the first live action and then the Shift 2 action @ 1:08. In real there is still a massive roar when the driver is off-gas and braking. But in Shift it sounds allmost like the whole sound is switched off. Bad.

Out of 'the big three', Turn10 is probably the developer that seems to care about its customers the most, and even that doesn't amount to much.
I've gotta ask, though: What do you expect? That the developer holds your hand and answers every question you have?

Bit unrealistic, isn't it?

As I said earlier, the Q&A stuff on Speedhunters is more of a decent information policy than anything I've seen from PD, at least.

Why do you have to be so rude?

Did I something to you that you didn't like? I don't think so. If SMS doesn't want to answer questions, why do they have email addresses in the first place?

I appologise for being rude, but, I mean, it's just common sense. What do you think how much manpower it takes to answer all those questions that your usual developer receives in a given amount of time?

I think it's just unreasonable to expect them to answer every individual question, especially if they're incorporating mass communication already.

There's something that looks a bit strange there: the left mirror seems to wobble in a way that I can't connect to the movement of the head/cockpit. Even when going straight and steady it looks like it flutters in the wind as if it was loose and about to come off. Just an observation of a bewildering detail... :dopey:

imo there is a huge difference, shift is clearly the more immersive and authentic. Forza is good but here looks poor.. and gt well looks really bad in evertything ( sound, race, collision), i mean it's really bad cause i've it.

i'm not speaking about the physic.

No problem and I have to admit that your comment makes sense and you're quite right. I thought about that as well.

At least they have the dignity to show GT5 in one of its best sounding cars, they can easliy make GT5 look a lot worse with a NSX RM with farty exhaust.

Well, after hearing that R8... More accurate or not, I think it sounds a lot better than GT, but I guess we all know GT5 isn't exactly a benchmark when it comes to sound...

nice, so it seems the normal cockpit view is indeed very err........normal. People who don't like the fancy effects can play it their way too.

GT5 is possibly the worst sounding car game this generation, I woke up the other day and thought my missus was playing GT5...turns out she was doing the hoovering.

As far as T10 community management is concerned, one thing have to be said:

They were very friendly and full of answers in the period initial to release of FM3. As soon as community realized problem with hoppers-system and as soon as players became vocal regarding permanent steering-aid, lack of decent hoopers for more demanding players and overall casualization of the physics/collisions/non-ABS driving, etc - ignorance begun. Followed with genocide of all threads regarding any issues on official forums.

So no, Turn10 can't be used as example at all because what they did is even more problematic than what PD is doing for instance. I prefer to have no information at all, than to have only positive or false information with deliberate ignorance of issues and pretending like they do not exist - while communicating about the positives on regular basis.

@ vroom, arcade mode , not B level, A level, take a stock SuperGT. Imho is not that bad, better than career mode, I don't hit opponents to take advantage, I always try to make clean manouvres. Having fun with GT5 as almost about moderating yourself: not too many hp, no racing tyres, no dirty overtakes, no track cutting. If you don't play the game in this way I can well understand why you think it's crap. Anyway the best AI I've found in a racing game was in GTR2, they race clean keeping the line, they are able to defend position and try to overtake you everytime they have a chance, and it was customizable: how fast, and how clean or dirty you want them. Shift 1 AI wasn't that bad, just too much aggressive compared to real life, if as they are saying, they toned down a bit, new AI could by great.

I wouldn't use them as a good example, not at all. It's just that I think they do it the best out of PD, T10 and SMS. Doesn't mean that they're a good example though.
I think getting any information at all is always better than getting none. If you don't want the information, you can always just ignore it. Plus, with PD, the information they do give out (as rarely as they do) aren't especially clear and without ambiguity either. But I guess that's partially due to Translator San

To me, it's just a case of PD's customer communication sucking even more than T10s, and I haven't seen enough of SMS to consider them to be any better...

Anyways, I'm kinda interested to see how SMS is going to act after Shift 2's release. If they keep up the communication via Speedhunters, for example, they're probably going to do a lot better than T10 and PD.

If it's GT500 vs. GT500, stock vs. stock, you're still blowing the doors of the AI by a mile or two. Hell, you can do it with an upgraded Cucso Dunlop Subaru Impreza '08 at roughly 400HP on the stock racing hard tyres (same as the AI should be running on) and you shouldn't have too many problems beating them. That, however, is what you need to do to make GT5's AI challenging: Put yourself a decent disadvantage.
On equal ground, the AI consists of nothing but pushovers.

@ Terronium, If you remember, is this the camera you refered to some time ago? The blur seems to happen even in this view and not only in helmet cam ;(

this is the same cockpit from shift 1 and there is always blur after a certain speed so you have blur in straight or very high speed corners.

in helmet view there is blur connected to the movement of the head, so at the end of straights where driver looks at the next turn and there is blur in the cockpit. you don't have blur in straights.

you can't turn off blur, cockpit like forza o gt without effects does not exist.

It has been said earlier that mirrors, bumpers etc will come off in Shift 2 after collisions. The only exception will be Paganis, their mirrors wont because they didnt allow it for some reason.

lamborghini gt1 road america cockpit view not helmet

Everybody says GT5 sounds rubbish, but do you think this sounds fantastic?
This sounds like garbage to me.
Not every car in GT5 sounds well, but i find some cars have really good sounds like the SLS AMG, 787B and some more which i cannot remember.

The head movement when breaking is silly implemented too, This games doesn't look that appealing at all.

And in shift 1, each car doesn't start (in cockpit) blur at the same speeds which is ridiculous

I like the head movement when braking and accelerating, I have also raced so I know what forces are going on in the car when doing so.

Fantastic? no, not at all. Worlds better than GT5? Yes, definitely.

I wonder what you're thinking about GT5, then.

There are a few cars that sound good in GT5, yeah. And I'll be hard pressed to use both hands to actually count all of them.

Lots of cars in GT sounds rubbish too. But i am not annoyed by GT5 sounds like the video that i have quoted. That's my opinion. I will try this game out on PC though and i hope it will be better then i have seen, but it looks disappointed to me until now

you can say that this car sounda like garbage( even if i don't know how it sounds in reality) however take a car from shift and one form gt5 and it surely sound better in shift.. ex R8 previous page. GT5 sounds it's crap at all.. denyning this is absurd, it's total crap in terms of sound, all sounds.

i'm fine with the cockpit, however i will use the helmet cam that is very different form this one.

i don't think your head will move that much when breaking or accelerating.
And if it does move like this games shows, then your neck will break after 5 rounds :P

You should try driving a car around a circuit sometime, then. You don't even need a very powerful car to experience the Gs messing with your head and, more importantly, your neck.

Hell, just race gokarts for a bit and feel your neck getting sore after a few laps, due to the strain to the muscles. And not those crappy indoor karts
