Yeah thats it... Shift 1 only works well with 3 motors force feeback wheels :dopey:

I don't know if my two motors each push opposite directions, or if they both work together for extra torque. Lag between the feedback pushing one way, and pushing the other way is not noticeable to me in any other title. It'd be nice to know if Shift1 had the same problem on single-motor FFB setups. I'm sure not upgrading to 3 anytime soon.

What wheel you got reaper?
Just a common old G25. Again, whenever I turn in Shift (ps3), there is no resistance to me turning the other direction. Should I snap the wheel to the outside, it's just limp wheel for a good long time. It doesn't seem to matter if the front wheels are planted or sliding through the grass, I only get feedback in one direction at a time with a good bit of lag in between.

Am I the only one with this? I've honestly never heard complaints about it here.
If I'm the only one experiencing this, my odds of having problems with shift 2 may also be high, and I'd have few ways to find out in advance.

God this racing game looks and sounds orgasmic!

I am a long time fan of GT and FM series and while SHIFT 1 was a lot of fun and really enjoyable, I could not get past the arcade physics. When I say a lot of fun I remember about 5 hours into the game on the second day thinking "Why don't GT or FM games feel like this?". If the elite physics mode turns out to be as good as they say and the online allows public custom lobbies I'm so SOLD!

The Works body-kits, the stand-alone aero upgrades the choice of iconic vehicles, the unrivalled selection of racetracks, the visceral racing experience, the heart-pumping sound, night racing, damage that looks to be the best in a racing game yet... I could go on. I am very excited about this game.

What am I more excited about? Well the bar it will set of course. GT6 and FM4 will be stellar just to compete with and incorporate SHIFT 2 features and feel.
(Well with FM4 we'll find out soon enough, GT6 might take another 5 years :()

I think SHIFT 2 will be LEGENDARY!

EDIT: I watched this last video with a big stupid grin on my face 6 times now...

EDIT 2: Achilles heel? No Ferrari, I'll gladly pay for DLC if they bring out a pack like they did in SHIFT, more cars though please!

Definitely agree

Shift 2 is going to be awesome. Even if they kept the original physics. This is more of everything.

Let the haters and sheep crunch their numbers trying to disprove this game. They just go by what is written on paper. More like brainwashed snobs. Talking like their crap don't stink. With every complaint about this game there are a zillion more for GT and Forza.

If you replaced the Shift name with GT or Forza the game will be highly respected. That is how bad the fanboys and haters are. Of course we all know that.

When others have managed to make racing boring, unexciting, and numb makes you think that in real life is racing boring, unexciting, and numb? Certainly not. While it is definitely not perfect but comes much closer than others.

A lot of people will be missing out because of their ignorance.

Laptop will probably not be enough unfortunately - would be rough even at medium details even in Shift 1. Anything reasonably recent desktop/gaming laptop wise should be capable of running it though. You can put together a budget system with a core i "k" cpu pretty cheap now and they're mad fast.

New video, the one they promised a week or two ago of tommy milner driving:

This game will easily run on a current mid-range laptop that costs around £500 at over 30FPS with much higher detail than the PS3 version. Heck, if you got an old laptop on eBay for £200 with something like a 9600m GT, that will most likely run it better than a PS3. Shift 1 looks very good at 1080p at 60FPS with maxxed out detail. The car models are amazing and probably is the only game close to the premium models in GT5. Gran Turismo's cockpit detail should at least look good as Shift 1 when the PS4 comes out due to hardware power.

About the video, I reckon you could easily beat his time, by about 2 seconds, if not a lot more. He seemed to drive it at a reasonable speed but was not really pushing the car, just seemed happy to go round the track. I reckon if he is losing by 4-5 seconds after people attempt to beat his time after a week of game launching then I'm sure he will try and improve it. Anyway, I noticed he is the winner of the race that this years european GT Academy winner might be able to take part in. I like the ending of the video saying "This is real racing" although it only showed one person doing a hot lap and also being the only car on the track :sly:.

How ironic considering what an ignorant post this is.

There is actually a reason for this behavior, and that is because Forza and GT have proven to be very capable sim racers while shift is plainly an arcade game. If your argument is that people should not just be stuck to sim racers and that is your view of those games, then it is indeed a very ignorant one and additionally ignorant of you to attack people for simply disagreeing with it.

;)

Haters gonna hate!!

From the videos I've seen Shift Two seems to be on par with GT and Forza just by the way the cars behave.

Looking forward to it! Especially the level of customizing and the fact there is no bs premium or standard cars!

That's weird, I could have sworn that when people set out to actually prove anything in Forza, they found that it's basically impossible due to the driving being permanently assisted. And the very first time people set out to systemically test GT5, they found that a) cars aren't actually driving on their real dimension/aspect tyres and b) that this doesn't matter much because GT5 doesn't actually seem to simulate this properly in the first place.

The guy has a point. There seem to be rather a lot of things GT fans brought up as OMG TEH SHIFT IS TOTALLY TEH ARCADE that magically vanished as realism-meters the moment GT5 came out. For example I can remember post after post from the GT crowd saying how awful Shift was because people were posting fast nordschleife times in certain cars... now take a look over in the sub 5.30 GT5 ring times - or the 1.00min top gear test track times - and ask yourself what ever happened to that? Is it now not a good test? I wonder why that could be?

A lot of people throw around words like "prove" and "sim" without really coming armed with a working definition of what those might mean.

Looks good? sounds good? is fun to play? thats good enough for me

💡 then it must be arcade and Im a very ignorant person

GT5 looks ok, sounds awfull and it is definitly not much fun anymore.

so it must be a sim :D:dopey: and a game for the inteligent

I enjoy this thread because I am excited to learn more about Shift 2 until I get my copy, and all of the completely ridiculous flaming that starts and stops....:)

Hi guys,

1st post in this forum (new user but long time watcher)

My copy was pre-ordered 2 weeks ago and i'm sure I won't regret it

I've been playing GT since GT4 and I got GT5:P and GT5. I'm FAR from beeing the best driver in the world so GT5 still has plenty to offer and i'll keep playing it. Mostly because I can use a lot of different cars just for kicks.

I can't comment on Forza (but from what I already played here and there I don't feel like missing much. Then again I don't play it often so...

More to the point I like to play games and more important I like having fun while i'm playing.

Shift 2, like Shift 1, seems exciting and fun to play. Its the fun factor i like in a game and despite all its problems, even shift 1 was way more enjoyable and fun to play than gt5 was/is - will be?

B-SPEC was a major pain to finish and one of the most boring game modes of all time.

Shift 2 will be like ice on a hot summer afternoon - refreshing.

Folks here seem to be divided between ..
1.) Shift2 is good, GT5 is bad.
2.) Shift2 is bad, GT5 is good.

I say both can be good, well i hope shift2 is great so i can have more games to play. I can't wait to drive the SumoPower GTR. :)

I expect both games will have their good points and both games will have their bad points, each to their own i say.

With car sounds as good as those in the Vette video this game is going to be epic to listen to. If the game turns out to be a pup, at least you'd have the sound. The sound!

The Leno trophy seems to confirm that you can own all the cars you want.
Elitist trophy, also excellent confirmation.
Whate are those "badges" about?

Also, I don't quite get the different difficulties (easy, medium, hard). Maybe because I come from GT5 where there's only one mode, that becomes increasingly more difficult by itself. I mean, can I start the game with the difficulty I want? And if I start the game at "medium", for example, will I be able to change it to "hard" half way through the game or whenever I want, or will I have to restart from the beginning? Are "standard" and "elite" driving modes available in all difficulties?
Maybe these features were the same in Shift 1 and people who played it have a clearer understanding of them?

Don't you play any other video games?

Any game with a hint of common sense will allow you to change difficulty mid career.

not really, no. So I guess it was a silly question :dopey:
But then what is the difference between standard handling in hard mode, and elite handling in easy mode? Just seems a bit odd to me. Ok I'll stop being silly and just wait for the game to be out :sly:

yes u can use elite in easy mode

from aids to elite -> handling

from easy to hard --> ai

you can mix all the possibility every time during the career.
