Yeah, sad. Now try and do that with the GT5 model!

I don't think it's really been discussed so far but I hope the damage system will be just good in S2U, and by just good I mean less zealous than Shift. It was almost impossible with such an aggressive AI to end a race with a car you could recognize without an autopsy. I know it's a minor detail but the ideal damage is probably somewhere between GT5 and Shift, much closer to Shift though.

EDIT: Funny we had the same idea!

added time attack discipline to the career mode on the official site. Now:

- drift
- fia gt1
- retro
-works
-muscle
- time attack

1 left: could be fia gt3 or endurance... i think it's endurance and fia gt3 is a part of fia gt1 discipline. However seems to be tons of gameplay, excluding drift that i'm not going to touch but it's good that all the drifting is limited to its section while the other 6 are free of it. I also preorder the game so i'll have 40 events in 3 discipline: old vs new, manufacture battle, car battle. Really like all this variety, i like being forced to use every kind of car.. expecially retro.

I'm a big fan of old race cars. That could be a great addition to the next installment. There are so many great drives from the past and the magic is still there. No need to stop at the 70s though. The previous decades are also full of gems and even if they're comparably slower than today's cars, it's probably more of a challenge to win races with oldies. I'd buy such a game with my eyes closed!

Old race cars? 917, kthybai.

Ahem, anyways, I'm happy to have the retro series in place. I'm pretty glad to have a place to race the older M3s, the AE86 and so on.

Are you buying a used one? because I dont think they are still producing that 2005 wheel

The website wasn't dated, so I guess that is why it was so cheap. Guess I will be getting whatever the latest model is. Not many options for the 360:tdown:

That and the speedster 3 is for xbox1 and not 360.
...and it sucks. It doesn't feature true FFB, and is probably not constructed up to the quality of the white 360 wheel.

I have one. Cost me $25, which is about right for it.
Feel free to buy those used, because nobody used them enough to wear them out.

That's hilarious...

But didn't Lamborghini get started because he couldn't get satisfaction from Ferrari about reliability? Maybe, instead of smashing the car, he just starts up his own sports car company and makes BETTER ones?!

Revenge is a dish best served up with a V12... :sly:

Not quite.

Long story short, Ferruccio criticized or rather expressed dissatisfaction with Ferrari's service and how everything was so secretive, and not to mention how many trips for service they'd require - eventually he brought his grievances to the attention of Enzo who almost immediately dismissed him, claiming he wasn't fit to criticize considering his primary venture was that of tractors. Needless to say he modified a Ferrari himself (a 250GT, I believe) that outperformed the stock model and Lamborghini S.p.A was born shortly thereafter.

Basically, every car at the time (and still to this day, although I don't know how honest the current runnings are to Ferruccio's original intentions) was nothing but a huge middle finger to Ferrari, and a huge middle finger it was indeed.

Great news...👍
Im really looking foward to this game... but there is something thats been troubling me a bit...:dunce:
They said in an interview that there would be no pit stops but in another interview they said that there will be tyre wear and online races up to 99 laps... so I was woundering How will they implement the tyre wear without pitstops?

Theres a lot of other stuff Id like to ask also but I guess one question per user is fair enough:sly: so If you could clear this one for meI would really appreciate it very much.

i want this info too pls!

Pretty much. In particular, Ferruccio Lamborghini had an issue with the clutch in one of the Ferrari's and when he took it apart, discovered that it was the same as the one in the tractors he was building. He and a few of his workers designed and manufactured an alternative, but Ferrari dimissed him when he offered the design to them and told him to worry about his tractors instead of telling them how to build sportscars.

So in reply he went a built his own sportscar that was faster and more reliable, and so began the Ferrari v. Lamborghini rivalry :)

There is no option to filter by a specific handling mode, but you can now filter by camera view. So if you want to ensure everyone is driving from helmet cam the option is available.

What does this mean? That people in the same game can play against eachothers using different physics?

Depends. The understanding so far is that there's a single physics system, with varying levels of assists. Of course, they could do a PD and class something like SRF as an assist, but most people would consider that fundamentally changing the physics. (I liked it more when they were honest about standard and pro physics, but that's another story.)

So if everyone is on the same physics but with different assists, it's not a problem. It then comes down to how they've implemented the assists. The usual expectation is for there to be some trade-off for using the assists. That's not necessarily accurate to the real world, it's just solid gameplay that choosing to use less automated help results in you going faster if you can manage to handle it. Using ABS results in longer braking distances than not using ABS and braking correctly for example.

If that's the case, I don't see that there will be any problem at all. Assists players will be more consistent and have an easier time of driving. Non-assists players will be *able* to go faster, but may not be able to realise that if they don't have the requisite skill to pull it off.

Not sure if this was asked before, will there be different physics when drifting as compared to grip driving?

From the article linked above:

Got a question I bet most of us want answered:

Will the physics be different when drifting?

You'll be pleased to hear that drift now use the same physics set as when racing. However, those of you who drift in real life know that it's very challenging to get the hang of this extreme type of car control. So we had to figure out a way to also make this style of driving accessable to the mainstream gamer audience while also staying true to the hardcore scene.
So the solution was add a power ramp for lower HP cars and as well as some extra input filters/drift aids for gamepads. This allows beginners driving low powered cars (the power adder fades out as you reach 500hp) using game pads some help to stabilize the cars at extreme drift angles. So there is a "pick up and play" aspect to drifting on game pads, but it still feels natural, flowing and controllable using real life drift techniques.
Please note the gamepad filtering is purely to compensate for the lack of Force Feed Back.. Steering wheel users get a raw, unfiltered experience. As with real life, it takes some practice to master.

^^ Thanks.

This photo looks awesome, quite realistic.

I just wonder of those will be the actual gameplaygraphics. Because remember Forza 3. They could put out some really realistic pictures due the adjustment of brightness and contrast in the photomode. I hope they didnt do that on those screens. :)

I'd imagine thats standard photomode pics.

SMS's account on virtualr said that they don't like "photoshopmode" photomodes where the rendering is done differently than what you see the game doing in gameplay, and that theirs doesn't do that - other than letting you position the camera differently than you can with the gameplay camera controls.

Yeah the first Shift's photomode was horrible if you wanted to take your own shots. But they did have a great replay cam that you can take some cool shots if you just paused it at the right moment =)

Forza is a fraud. Cars look great in photomode only. When it came to gameplay, chase cam, hood cam, interior cam (absolutely horrible), etc the cars are pretty bland and boring. Don't be fooled by the sheep.

I also preorder the game so i'll have 40 events in 3 discipline: old vs new.

Help me out here. I preordered too. I am wanting the extra 40 events. Now is this for the preorders that you get the extra forty or is it actually preordering the Limited Edition. I went to a local retail to preorder and I wasn't giving the option of Limited Edition or Regular addition.

I began to assume that all preorders are limited editions but heck I don't know now.

That Q and A on SpeedMasters sounds encouraging. However, I am concerned with the driving physics. Hopefully, there is a filter for leader boards put in place.
