Nintendo Switch

Probably get it when Pokemon Stars does come out in 2017 before Christmas, if not (like a delay or something) I'll wait 'til Christmas.
Keep in mind that it is a partial list. I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to put false information out there just to fool the leakers, though Laura is pretty good at putting information out there from multiple sources.

I am a bit disappointed that the 3D Mario is the Mario game at launch instead of Mario Maker.

With no touch screen support, I don't see how they can do it and call it new and improved. It would be a massive draw back to the easy style control that's on the Wii U and 3DS.

I'm happy with a new Mario game at launch instead of a re-release, something new to play upon launch.

I still think we'll get a touch screen. It wouldn't make sense to show it in a reveal trailer which focuses on new tech. Same for motion control in the joycons....how else would Just Dance be playable?

Phone, they did it with their recent entry.

It just looks so good. I love the hardware. Nintendo make me remember how I felt about gaming when I was a kid. Gaming has gotten so serious these days. I'll be buying one for sure but I'm not sure what the sneering, scornful world gaming has become will make of it. I hope it's a success.

French indie studio AnyArts Productions has announced Seasons of Heaven, a new adventure game to be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch.

Seasons of Heaven's story is based on a little-known French novel of the same name, which centres on a group of survivors in a post-civilisation world.

The game stars are Yann, a young boy with Asperger's syndrome, and Ani his French bulldog. Gameblog.fr has the first details and initial screenshots, some which you can see below. Both Yann and his canine pal are playable.

That smooth as heck gameplay.

And it's happening in a handheld console. I am seriously looking forward to more news and gameplay video with the Switch.

I was sure it wouldn't matter how much better BotW looked on Switch and that I'd probably play the game on Wii U instead. But if it's 60fps, that complicates the decision a bit.

I've seen some comparison vids between the Wii U and Switch versions of the game, and the Wii U had troubles with explosion effects because they dropped the framerate. Over on the Switch the framerate remains steady even with an explosion in your (Link's) face.

Goodness... Unreal Engine on a handheld...:drool::drool:

I don't think that Wii U footage necessarily represents what we can expect from the final product, but I certainly don't expect any better than a locked 30fps. I would be surprised if it ran poorer than Xenoblade Chronicles X, although I suppose BotW has more physics going on.

You want even better news? According to sources reporting to ReviewTechUSA, From Software, the developers of Dark Souls III, has managed to get Dark Souls III RUNNING on the Switch at a satisfactory performance. Could we see a port of the game on the Switch?

If there was a contest to win a Nintendo Switch, I would SURELY sign up to get one. Excited much, Jimmy Fallon? Rightfully so. From that video, I thought "Super Mario Run" was some endless runner featuring Mario. Endless runners and jumpers just do NOT interest me at all. So I'm glad that wasn't the case.

I am now starting to believe only one thing can lead to the success or failure of the Nintendo Switch- 3rd party support. Can developers properly utilize it to offer incredible game experiences using the Switch? Can those games even (especially among multi-platform titles) be better on the Switch than with the other major consoles? Those who use their creativity and their knowledge can make unforgettable titles for it. My hopes are high people will actually make the most of this console and make this an amazing gaming experience. Whether or not we'll get these great experiences remains to be seen.

I don't disagree, but I believe that Nintendo has to play to the Switch's strengths. Multi-platform titles will most likely still look better on other consoles due to more powerful hardware, so the big thing is being able to take the games with you, prop it up somewhere and even play multiplayer with your mates.

Speaking of marketing, I think they've also done a good job (intentionally or otherwise) at letting people know that their biggest IPs are going to hit the Switch right after release. BotW, Pokémon Stars, Mario... Much better than what happened with the Wii U. A relatively low price and a good lineup of big first party games at (or near) launch might get the Switch the installation base it needs to keep its appeal to third party developers.

Now, all they need is a new Metroid Prime and maybe a Super Metroid remake.

Having slept on it I've even more excited about Switch! And best thing about it is we only have to wait until March. Bring it on!

Is there a known release date for BotW? Hoping for it to be launch title, but I'm fine with waiting to buy the Switch until it's out.

Not that I know about. Surely it'll be a release title though? Guess we'll find out on January 12.

So Mario Maker can come to the Switch or at least a sequel :D

Motion sensing capabilities? Wonder if they had to do that for Pokemon since Inkay evolution method requires you to hold the console upside down to evolve it , I was expecting Pokemon to just add a new evolution method for Inkay like they did with Feebas when they removed Pokemon contests.

I guess it doesn't support dual screens which makes sense into why it can't be backwards capable with 3DS, DS or Wii U games.

Nintendo is a bloody genius! Good grief! Seeing that video on the patent data on the Nintendo Switch makes me think this is going to be a mainstay with how customizable and how adaptable it is. The Switch is going to be incredibly unique, even if you have the types who'll want to have those console wars and trying to gauge the Switch as any superlative. This is all nothing short of interesting.

I've never been a Nintendo fan but I really like the way the try to innovate the console generation. I hope for them the Switch will be a success 👍

>That Google Cardboard style VR Headset

Naaah, that's genius. If Nintendo are actually going to provide some sort of VR option for that cheap, it would be insane! I wasn't impressed with PSVR for the price but if Switch can have a VR novelty mode like Gear VR etc I'm all in.

Never been a fan of VR but I guess it's good that Nintendo is looking into it for people who are interested. I won't use it but if they do implement it, I hope it goes well.

Not surprised, you don't seem to like many new things!

Joking aside, I'm not a huge fan of VR either but if there's a cheap novelty option like the Cardboard, why not!

The one thing that concerns me about the Nintendo Switch having virtual reality thing is... I am hoping people don't think about any VR capabilities like the failed Virtual Boy of the mid-1990s. People probably won't think that, but it is maybe a hark back to their last VR attempt. And sadly enough... I wanted a Virtual Boy back then! Big difference between then and now is that I am almost certain games will not be only in black and red. So that is something to look out for in regards to the Switch having VR abilities.

Let me say this again- Nintendo are freaking geniuses based on how the Switch is and how it can be utilized. I don't want them to be too bonkers in thinking of all kinds of ways to make an already adaptable system even more adaptable. That video makes it seem like Nintendo thought of almost everything in how to make the Switch an insanely capable console. Or maybe we can think of the Switch as "the anti-console." No matter how you look at it, you HAVE to be intrigued even if the Switch ends up becoming an absolute flop.

I think Nintendo are going to go rather slow with the VR, if it proves to be too expensive, they probably will just drop it or hold it off like when they thought about a 3D Add-On for the Gamecube.

I like how Nintendo is continuing the tradition of multiple controller options like the Wii and Wii U do :D.
