Question: In totally stock car rules, can you tune Brake Balance, because i thought it was buy car, oil change and thats it, no touching settings of any kind?
In real life 99% of road cars you cannot change brake balance, only maybe certain Subaru, evo and GT-R but not even sure on them, Brake balance tune can cut lap times by quite a bit over a long track like Nurb.

Plus how do you know if someone is cheating by using SRF, hopefully everyone plays to the rules as they are only cheating themselves but people will try! even on replay you can't tell can you?

Maybe show settings screen with no cut or edit before lap should be mandatory?

Didn't save my Evora or Skyline replay so gonna have to do them again and record it:-(

Its based on trust, i dont have problem with brake bias for non-ABS user, but ABS1 need to remain stock 5/5 brake bias.

For SRF, if i can see the video with a driving view, i go test the car and i can see if SRF was used or not the way the car handle.
:)

Bummer, I didn't change the oil on that FGT stock run, that would add considerable hp... left the BB at 5/5 even with ABS off, strangely didn't make it difficult but I was taking it really easy. Still, you arrive at the limiter so quickly and it's wah-wah-wah-wah-wah all the way down those loooong straights ;)

Are you constantly hitting the limiter on the straights? Try to keep your revs just below the max revs and you'll be able to maintain slightly higher speed on the straights 👍

+1 to that:tup:, i try to do that as well :)

and yes oil change and engine overhaul is allowed.

Sure but the point is in the FGT, leaving the stock gearing means it's somewhat of an artificial limit (rather than the gearing being set for its true terminal speed based on power/drag). I could change the oil and get more power for the slower sections but I'd be on the limiter even sooner on straights ;)

That's what bugs me sometimes when testing cars "stock" - we all know PD probably cut a few corners given the sheer number of cars, and I think in many cars the settings aren't optimized for the capabilities of that car even in average conditions (gearing too short, suspension too soft, etc). Certain settings are clearly just copied/pasted across many cars even though they don't always apply given the layout, power, weight, etc.

I've often wished the HUD would just have all the aids listed on or off somehow (many are there, but not SRF or active steering). Some show signs that are fairly easy to discern in the gauges. SRF is fairly obvious in some situations but can be hard to tell in others... I have little to no experience with it anyway, for me it's always only been that PITA assist that you can't turn off in the License tests.

Mandatory settings screen with no cut or edit before the lap would require recording it "live", rather than saving the replay and capturing it from the Replay Theater playback after setting the Display Settings of the PS3 to 720p and component video (I drive using 1080p HDMI). I have been considering at least adding the settings screen to the end as an FYI for those who are interested, but would it still be legible on YT?

Yes i didn't think properly.
I mean little things like lowering the ride height having racing suspension would be impossible to tell so its just gonna have to be a trust thing.
I have often wondered the same, on a replay it should have course name amd all settings at start of the lap, would be so easy for PD to do!

There is always a risk that will happen, but so far i think everyone has been honest, its more a car database than a leaderboard, ...more a friendly leaderboard... and most of time, we will see if theres something wrong, top speed, handling etc in a video.

The lap wont be added if its not following exactly the format entry, its not just about the information required, its the perfect order that is more important, the spreadsheet update by alphabeticaly order, in order to update properly you have to start with the lap time,

then the manufacturer, the model, the year, then your username and say if its beaten updated or new.

The name of the car need to be the exact name you see in the game, for example the name you see on the ghost replay file.

-In this case, do you mean its a standard version of the GT-R or thats the real name of the car in the game?

-is there a year displayed for this car?

-The laptime need to be exactly like this: 07:18.352

Just copy a submission from either gooner, w-g-e, Manuelos, me or anyone you see their laptime on the board then edit the correct infomation if needed.

:)

Hi mike, there's no point in me sumitting the Lotus Evora time as with most cars you are about 8 - 15 secs quicker than me, so you will easy beat it.
I'm just very surprised its your record at the minute, if i beat it you should be able to take another 10secs off it!?

Some of the lap are very old and will be improved yes, but theres so many car to drive dont hesitate to submit a time, it will last a while :)

Its been edited, and its the standard version of the GT-R
Watch this, I'm going to do it for you. It is important to post everything in this exact format as we (= currently only mike_gt3) need to manually update the sheet. Posting in this format will save us a lot of time.

You also forgot(?) to mention the category, so can you please tell which that is?

1st time I've driven this Esprit and it's absolutely lovely... hits the limiter on the straight unfortunately, but the handling is super sweet.
