Mike, take a look in the wheel v pad thread!

What do you reckon, are them times possible?

I took a few minutes to go through the thread, id have to test to have an idea of the laptimes, i almost never run online and rarely run tuned car, just tell him to run the qualifier on WRS, he will see how he fair if thats what hes looking for. :)

But Mike, that will take four weeks! Nobody in that thread can wait until Saturday, apparently :D

More seriously, I think the GT500 time and the others look vaguely doable (if not by me, very much mortal), but I'm not really sure how much time is lost for a standing start (5s or so?). The times aren't hugely different online with tire wear off, as far as I know. Magnified at the Ring, certainly. That CSL time, though...

As an example, offline hot lap in TT format, the Takata Dome '03 I could get 6'25 or so with one or two completed laps at 600pp on Race Hards. Someone had that down to 6'15. A tuned GTR or HSV for the specs should be faster on Mediums, but again, don't know the time lost for the start, and there is some online differential.

I'll see if i can do a quick test with it offline, i need to tune one, but i wont spend that much time on it, just a few attempts and i can try to guesstimate. :)

I noticed the Renault Megane RS Trophy is claiming the ring FF record at 8:08, using Bridgestone RE050A high performance tires for the run, sports softs ? The best FF car on the production table is a Ford Focus RS '02 at 8:06, nice correlation! My calcs have the real Renault as a 412 pp car, 261 HP @ 1500 kg ~ test weight.

Thanks mike!

Please try CSL with no wing, i know you can get 6.27!

The Potenza RE050A (or any "high performance" tire) supposedly would equate to a "comfort" tier of GT5 tire, going by the tread pattern. I think "extreme performance" would be the "sports" tier in GT5, e.g. the Potenza RE-11 or P Zero Corsa, which is closer to a slick but still has some grooves for water evacuation.

Now whether or not GT5 matches either tire as far as simulating its grip/performance, who knows, but I kinda doubt it. I have UHP tires on my car and they definitely feel like way more grip than any comfort tire has in GT5... and when I was on UHP summer performance tires, even more so.

I doubt i will see a 6:27, i will give it a quick try when i'll have more time. :)
6:29 is already a quick lap to be honest, other than the driving errors in the lap, i didnt left much room for improvement(for me) :)

Manuelos pushes me to my absolute limit, I really dont think I can get anymore out of this. I was 1/10th behind on one of the supra laps aswell, again pushing it to the max using every bit of every curb. Phew, hard work.

I got another PS3 today, the lure of the nurburgring pulled me back. But this time Im focusing more on road cars than race cars...bad news is at the moment I suck with them.

I took the SLS for a spin earlier and could only manage 7:22. I really dont know what im missing with the road cars on SH tyres at the moment, it feels like a totally different game though. Much more practice needed as today was my first real attempt, maybe one of you guys could take a look at my lap and give me some pointers?

Cheers

Link a video we can try to help :) good to see you got a new PS3

See, i told you, you could do it!

Fantastic Mike, well done mate on getting a 27 after just 40 mins too!

Looks like he might not be talking out his @$$ after all.

Cheers mate!

Cheers mike, my capture card isnt working so will keep practicing in the mean time. Do you have a lap online of your SLS lap?

Ive got another day off work today..........:) happy days.

No i dont have one, at least not up to date. i think i had one at 7:15 or something...

phil_75, its all in the difference between offline and online, his 6:27 with standing still start online would mean im still a lot slower than him, id say theres a 5 seconds gap between offline/online from what i seen by other lap posted. I dont think its possible to shve 5 seconds off the lap i did, that would be a 6:22 lap.

OK mate, but i think the difference between online and off can vary quite a bit, i have done a faster lap of suzuka online in my lounge than i can do offline for example, but then the next day still in my lounge the times I was getting were nearly 2 seconds off.
I raced in the intercontinental GT500 Championship for 3 seasons and we saw differences of up to 2 secs from what we could do in practices on different days over a track like le sarthe.
I guess only Saturday will tell us the answer!
Also for him to pick a 27 lap out of thin air and then you manage one seems too much of a coincidence.

I drove the Vibe, then wondered what it'd drive like with 2 less usable racing gears and 43 less HP, on CM instead of CS.

deleted as was total nonsense....

CANCEL that laptime. I just checked and forgot I put a stage 2 turbo on it last night for an online race.

That will explain the difference lol! Am gonna run the lap again now with stock turbo.

I will add it, a video of the run is still welcomed. :)

Hmmm have to ask, how will the 2.09 update affect this thread? Some have been saying that offline physics are also slightly different than before (not just making online more or less equal to offline)? I have not yet updated... anyone holding a record here have any thoughts about how the update affects your Nordschleife time?

I will try when i have some free time. :)

edit: i did a quick test with the Subaru Impreza Spec c '04 i had a 7:39 on 2.08, im a bit tired so i know the focus isnt there but i been able to run very close to my ghost,

what ive noticed is the car has less oversteer off throttle on corner entry, theres may be 2-3 area where 2.08 seemed faster with that particular car, but its still hard to guess for the moment, it felt more planted, but it was not really cornering faster i was chasing the ghost the whole time really close, i could see my ghost oversteer more than i was though,

i then tested online wich is a lot better now, no more weird oversteer coming from nowhere, i did 7:41 on the second lap(first lap that count) and there was room for improvement, id say theres less than 1 second between both physic, with that car at least.

i also tested a BMW CSL on racing soft and it felt great, i could still feel a little more oversteer/turn-in than offline but barely, and no more weird oversteer like stated^
I also noticed it was bouncing more though, didnt tried the CSL offline, i will test next time.

Is it possible to ask for videos?
I would really like to see a video of the premium Subaru WRX STi (18 wheel option).
A time of 07'47.007 with a stock version and sport hard tires looks impossible.
Or could it be due to an oil change? Does that make such a big difference?
Set by MVR08.

The oil change definitely helps but its not a massive amount of time, maybe a few 10ths per sector if you are driving well enough to notice them.

Im not sure who MVR08 is but its more than likely a legitimate time, im sure someone here would be willing to do the lap and post the vid.

Oil change may shave around 1.5 second, slightly more or less depending the cars.

Heres a video of his run he posted on the previous thread:

Hi, I have a simple question regarding what tires to use on the Racing/Non-production cars ALL STOCK category?

I did a few laps in the Audi R10 TDI Le Mans and did a 5:58.294 on RS and 6:12.427 on RH.

I assume I have to use RH, but please correct me if I'm wrong :-)

Hi, yeah its RH. Basically the tyres that the car came with when you purchased it.
