Throughout the 8 laps for the first time ever i was considering a pit stop :embarrassed: I was well prepared as I thought le mans would be my strongest track, I qualified 1st until yet again I was beaten in quali last few mins I was beaten.. Noticing jonster not in top 3 I thought this could be my race..
I started fantastic as usual and flew into lead in first turn and lead for first part until the draft chain caused positions to vary at the front.. Later on in the lap I got caught in a very sketchy situation where 6 drivers were all fighting for 1st at end of straight. Being me I still braked late and me and jonster managed to pull a lead from the pack.. The next Laps were mainly thrilling one-on-ones between me and jonster with thrilling overtakes on each side until I made a mistake on lap 5 giving jonster a 2 sec gap. Fortunately for me toffe was storming behind me and we managed to draft chain each other and catch up.. It became a 3 man battle for the lead until toffe made a mistake and fell into the sand :( at the last lap was a thrilling battle between me and jonster changing lead about 5 times until he seized control in the last corners. However he made a mistake and went into the grass and my heart started racing until I made the exact same mistake.. I couldn't draft to catch up and could perform no more heroics but am still delighted with a personal GTRC best of 2nd place :)

Loving the videos jonzster.

Cheers haigis 👍

Nice summary mate, on second thoughts...don't think I'll even try a full report way too much action for that :) I'll just let the video do the talking (when I get round to it)

I took a pic of five of us side by side down Mulsanne. Bit disappointed really, there was plenty of room for all six of us

That Image says it all.

You could of backed off and went to the left or accepted you were not going to pass there and try again at the next opportunity.

As you know mate it's not my call that's just my opinion.

You will just need to wait untill kk watches the replay.

I actually already was about to fly past him and he blocked me instead of yeilding

I will be sure to tell the steward.

My opinion: He was infront though and can therefore make one move to stop (not block) an overtake. Looks to me that he was just taking a normal line through here and wanted to be on the right hand side before the big left turn. You really should of expected him to move right if you were not wheel to wheel.

If you were just about to take him why did you attempt to do it on the outside?

Surely it would of been much easier to go left?

Steg - great write up on de la Sarthe 👍 Many thanks for the kind comments :embarrassed:

Sad you did not get to take part in this one, I know I would be going mad if that happened :nervous:

I've not had time to watch the whole replay yet. Had a lot going on and the Hauppage HD-PVR turned up yesterday. It's taken a while to get everything working and in a format that Virtualdub takes. Think I got it sussed now though.... uploaded a short test video clip in HD (about 30secs of the first lap) and I'm stoked with the results 👍

Cheers Jonzster, I was pretty gutted mate why lie but at least you guys kept it exciting enough to watch.

I subscribed to you on youtube and saw the test my friend and it is looking superb.
thank you once again 👍

Im waiting to for the replay. I suggest making an account on megaupload. It is very easy to upload. Let me know if you want some help 👍

No worries mate, no need to rush a decision :)

I can't remember what lap it happened on, sorry, but you need to watch it all anyway I guess.

Cheers bud ;)

Stewards Decision

lap 22 sichwitt cuts track on turn 2 to pass haigis.

Almost every driver did not follow the "2 wheels on track at all times" rule. This is a last warning. Further breaches will result in time Penalties.

Lap 22

R35, turn 6 four wheels on grass. LAST WARNING

r35skyline collision with SICHWITT

sic was on outside and was not aware of r35. Sic went to the inside line which meant he turned into him. R35 waited for Sic to regain position. It was very clear that R35 was the faster driver due to fresher tires.

This incident is very similiar to the Incident between the Mclaren duo at Canada 2011.

NO ACTION TAKEN.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF ALL CARS AROUND YOU.

Message to all drivers.

When you are clearly faster than the car you are overtaking due to fresher tires, please pick the right places on track. R35's collision with Sic is an example. The overtake was inevitable but that place on track is not an overtaking zone.

Any appeals must be made before the next race.

Thanks for looking into it kk, I will be sure to warn all racers ahead of next race ;)

Oh... It seems I have missed that GTRC actually had a forum here XD I thought all info was taking place on the website, I was wrong! I'm catching up now and reading through the old posts.

I can summarize the last race at La Sarthe shorly from my point of view:
I had a great qualifying and started first, got an okay start. In the end of the Mulsanne straight it got really tight with all cars trying to pass at the same time hehe, I lost a couple of places there and then had a terrible passing through Indianapolis and Arnage. R35 and jonzster began to pull away.

I then began The Catchup and managed to pull away from sicwhitt and close the gap to the leading group. (However it was on the expense of the tyres I figured out later...) Closed the gap, had a very nice fight with R35, finally got passed him and tried to pull away... just to the make The Mistake at the entrance to the Porsche corners one lap later. That mistake, together with having pushed the tyres too hard, really cost me the chances of winning the race for this time. However that really proves, I think, what a high level everyone here is on: one mistake with a resulting timeloss can reduce the chances of a good place big-time, just like in reality (and just like in this year's Le Mans 24 Hours :) In the end I had nice fight with sicwhitt. I could have made a kamikaze maneuver in the last corners but I chose to remain sane.

I don't know if you guys meddle around with the settings much, I always do and try to find the best setting for each race. However, this time I think I lowered the downforce too much...

Talking about settings, in the Deep Forest race I felt I really nailed the settings... that is certainly the best race I have had personally so far not just only because I won, but mostly because the laps I had to do to catch jonzster, resulting in pole qualifying times for several laps..

Btw jonzster, I watched your uploads on youtube, they are really nice! 👍 However it seems Deep Forest part 3 is gone, do you have it somewhere perhaps?

Hey Steg no problem mate. Sorry for the late reply, been a bit busy.

Here is last weeks race replay in HD! :)

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Toffe nice to see you on here and read your report mate.

Yeah I lowered rear downforce to about 52 , left the front alone and obviously changed gearing.

Don't know why Deep Forest Part 3 is missing, but I will get it back up later tonight.

Cheers.

thanks all for letting me join your race tonight it was brill ,while it lasted (having isp problems) had some god racing with the boys .only one minor bump on first lap at the chicane, but only to be expected as it was tight formation on the first lap .hope to race with you again .
got up to 4th on lap11 was going to see if i could no stop the race,it would have been touch and go at the end though.
got DCed while in 5th was hoping to finis mid table .
hope my driving was up to standerd..👍:)

Was good to have you and all the other new drivers with us Jamesy.
I was very impressed with all you guys and you are all more than welcome to race with us again.

The race was a very good one and at the halfway stage there were still a good few drivers in contention for the win.

Race report will be up tomorrow (Champions League Highlights).

woo!!! 👍 👍
Lol well done lad :)

So my dumb axx just realized what happened that caused be to start 14th and last on the grid. I went back to the lobby to check my downforce settings forgetting that wipes your times (provisional 2nd) lol :dunce:

Well it was fun coming through the field anyway, I was being extra cautious not to hit anyone, lot of close racing :).

The tyres worked strange here, seemed like they gave most grip first lap out of the pits when they were cold. Usually they feel a bit like you have just driven off circuit and have dirt on your tyres for the first lap, then the grip comes in after they have warmed up. Maybe it was just my set up?

I did experienced a bit of slow down at the start with so much action on screen. Great race though, I'm going to watch the replay now.

Cheers

First of all I would like to point out how impressed I was with how well some of the new drivers performed in their first race :)

RACE REPORT: I had never thought myself to be that good on the gp track with the minor exception of the 500op races I barely ever went on this track, I could only get practice 2 hours before the race and wasnt hitting any decent times so I lived up to my own expectations, in quali I managed to make my set up stick and set a lightning fast time yet for some reason started 9th when it said 4th :P at the start of the race I got great traction off the line and gained a few places in the straight, at the first corner I stuck to my braking marker and noticed everyone go wide and as a result I sneaked my way into 2nd, me and steg pulled away from the group and had a great battle for 1st for a few laps, I managed to pass and he stuck with me for a few laps until I slowly started to form a gap. Midway through the race I noticed mlr teamwork was having a great race and catching up on steg, much to my dismay as this way interfering with my plans to stick it out and pit late. I had a gap of about 4 seconds as thru went into the pit going into lap 11, I had a plan that as soon as they got past 2nd (sic) I would pit. By the time that happened I had pulled a 40 second lead and pitted going into lap 13 and I was folding as I saw steg and teamwork closing in while I was in pits.. I got out of pits with a 6 second lead and that was exactly what I needed to heat up my tires and get back into form. I kept my 6 second lead until monkey came into the group and him and team were chasing my down, cutting my lead to about 3 seconds.. I started pushing hard and set a new fastest lap and on fresher tires I pulled away to finish 1st with a 7 second lead :D

After watching the replay I have to admit I did not realize so many quick drivers seemed to be taking unusually low grid spots? I'm pretty sure what happened to me but not sure what went on with the others. Anyway it turned out to be a fantastic race and that's all that matters.

Well done again R35, Monkey and Teamwork. Had I not taken my little trip through the gravel I would have been up there challenging you lot, but in the end 14th to 4th and 12 valuable points ain't to bad :)
