After watching the replay I have to admit I did not realize so many quick drivers seemed to be taking unusually low grid spots? I'm pretty sure what happened to me but not sure what went on with the others. Anyway it turned out to be a fantastic race and that's all that matters.

Well done again R35, Monkey and Teamwork. Had I not taken my little trip through the gravel I would have been up there challenging you lot, but in the end 14th to 4th and 12 valuable points ain't to bad :)

I agree, something screwed up with the qualifying, I set my best lap (1'58.5xx I think) just some minutes before the start and right after that lap I parked at the first corner together with the rest, never exited. I thought I had the pole because the "best lap" time changed, so I was surprised when I started 7th or 8th on the grid. I wonder what happened, didn't notice anything strange...

Anyway, R35 showed some amazing pace... good job. My race wasn't the best... lost places in the start, made two mistakes going out on the grass later in the race, lost more places then tried to catch sicwhitt but failed to do so... Had a nice fight with haigis though :) Looking forward to next race.

Nürburgring GP/F parts 1&2 are up. Still working on part 3.

Part 1

Part 2

R35 - Yeah you're right bagged an extra point for SOGTRC award, cool :)

Toffe - I had the same problem, went off track a few times, 2 of them were minor, but whilst fighting with MonkeyM60 got a wheel on a curb and span into the sand losing several seconds.

Really nice tv-coverage-like videos, thanks! This was certainly a very eventful race, even more so than the La Sarthe race I think. I have a feeling Monza will offer many slipstream battles... :) (especially with Gran Turismo 5's a little overly active slipstream effect).

And by the way, may I ask what video editing software you are using?

Thanks Toffe, always nice to get any feedback 👍

Yeah loads of action in this race, so much that we had multiple overtakes happening at the same time and for the first half of the race it was no easy task to decide who to put the camera on (so to speak).

2nd half was much easier as the field got spread out a little, with only one or two battles going on I had a much easier job of deciding who to focus on.

Software I use is Arcsoft Total Media Extreme for capture (comes with the Hauppage HD PVR) This time capture bit rate was upped to the max.

DGAVCIndex takes the MT2S files to do the cutting, which saves to a .DGA file for AVISYNTH. The .avs script (created in notepad) gets opened in Virtualdub were the audio and video gets muxed and compressed with .h264 codec( currently encoding @ CRF 20). Virtualdub along with Photoshop is what is used for the intro etc.

Also use Goldwave to convert audio, and fade in/out each audio cut so you don't get the horrid pop/click in your speakers after each join.

Finally got the laptop fixed :)

Awsome videos again jonzster, glad you got the battle with me and R35, I really enjoyed that one 👍

Just to let you guys know that tomorrow night at Monza will be on the weather changing version of the track.

The race will start with sunny weather however there will be a small chance the rain will start during the race.

I will finish the Ring GP/F write-up as soon as I can recover all the data I lost 👎

Cheers Steg :) Yeah that was a really good battle between you two 👍

Sucks you lost all your data :(

Like the sound of Monza with changeable conditions thrown in to the mix, race should be spectular 👍

On another note, just wondering if the V1.11 update has cured the glitch? It was supposed to fix minor bugs, here's hoping that was one of them. :D

Ooohh a challenge.. Realistically jonster has already won.. Unless I win every race and he doesn't show in one and doesn't get podium in other 2 xD don't mean I will go easy ;)

Kept going straight at Monza and hit the wall at 150mph+, the glitch has not been fixed 👎

I started a free run in my lounge and had the weather start on sunny, it started raining after 1 lap :)

Arrgghhh that sucks.... Kaz you bad boy :D

R35- keep dreaming....... nah only joking mate :) best of luck and all that ;)

Any ideas if there is a huge difference between inters and full rain tyres?

I was running just under 2minutes in the "pouring" rain on inters and the grip felt ok.

It was raining for about 20minutes and then started to dry out and I got back onto slicks after a few laps.

I have also noticed that the difference between the intermediates and rain tyres are quite small in GT5... I did practice a little yesterday on Monza, but not in rain xD I just wonder how much rain is needed for the rain tyres to be faster?

I can imagine that the Lesmo corners are going to be extremely tricky if it begins to rain, especially if one is using low-downforce settings... not that I mind the challenge tough :) In fact, I almost hope that it will rain, it will add an extra grade of difficulty.

Thanks for the info! I thought you were using some hyper-advanced editing software or something to make that graphics hehe... You're converting every audio cut? Must be quite some work!

Toffe - no nothing to complicated :) I like to keep it fairly simple and cheap, mostly freeware stuff. Would like Sony Vegas Pro but mega bucks and I don't fancy the eye patch/parrot version
Audio conversion with Goldwave is as simple as, but yeah it takes a while opening each invididual .avi into it (33 last video), will have to look into how the batch processing thingy works

Steg - ran a practice session last night for a couple of hours, a couple of the guys joined, we saw no rain for the entire session so not done any wet weather practice yet.
My experience of inters is much the same as Toffe, the inters were only faster than the wets in a very small window but I have not been in a wet race for ages so something may have changed in that time.

Agree with Toffe on downforce, a higher setting helps in the rain but if it starts out dry then rains you are obviously stuck with your original setup.
I hope that we have a mostly dry race then rains at some point, fancy a challenge and the changing conditions will look great on the replay :)

My race report!! I set a blisteringly fast quail time and thought I got my first pole position, then sic started in front :P and I was second, I started great and managed to edge ahead in first turn, I managed to hold onto 1st until the back straights then at the front it was the top 4 in the championship fighting for the lead, we all fought for several laps in which many places changed.. On lap.. 7 or 8 I made a mistake on last turn going to wide and on the grass and dropped back from lead group, I thought at that point the battles for me were over.. But I managed to set some great lap times and catch up to toffe and sic but noticed Jon pulling away from them. As I caught up going down pit straight I braked too late and swerved to the left off track to avoid collusion and went head on with a barrier, thankfully I escaped the glitch and sic and toffe slowed a bit and I was able to catch up after a few laps. Sic pitted earlier than I thought and me and toffe had a great battle until he went wide into the sand.. then my brain exploded with a fantastic possibility! I thought at the start I would pit around lap 17. Then I realised jonster always pitted in every race I've been in with him (minus le mans) and it was getting late in race.. And I thought if he pitted like I thought (about Lap 19) then I would have a great enough gap to narrowly win without pitting, I stuck to this strategy and at his pit exit he was roughly 20s behind.. I done some calculations during race and figured if I could stay within 3s on lap times with him then I could win by like 1 second, turned out as my tires wore I was hitting 1.52-53 whereas he was hitting 48-49 if I'm right and completely flew past me on lap 24 and won the race my about 10 seconds.. I am extremely pleased with my 4th podium in a row and a current 2nd place in drivers championship, jonster is 49 points ahead of me in championship and unless his Internet dies on both occasions and I manage to win Monaco and nurb then he wins championship.. Both of which are unlikely on their own and together is practically impossible so I would like to congratulate him on a solid and consistent performance throughout the season and well done on practically securing drivers championship and possibly the team championship which is a HUGE accomplishment since he has basically done the whole season alone and which I think just completely solidifys his position as top driver (by far) in GTRC! 👍

I told you guys earlier...Johnster is Seb Vettel...I can imagine the finger going up after every race win...:P

My race report:

Got a good qualifying and it felt like I got the settings right (went for a high-downforce setting) and the start was okay too. All the slipstreaming made it hard to actually pull away from anyone... so the first laps were really tight between me, R35, Jonzster and Sicwhitt. A few touches here and there, not 100% clean, but I don't felt anyone did anything deliberate (and no major accident). Something happened that left me, Sicwhitt and R35 in the top. We had a great fight. :) However, the downside with fighting is that one loses time and that made it possible for Jonzster to catch up. He drove smart and managed to pull a lead at the right moment and got enough distance to neutralize the slipstream effect. At that point I thought it was going to be hard to catch up, but not impossible. I made a small mistake and with the chance of eventual rain I then went for a no-pitstop strategy. Jonzster made a pitstop which made me move up to 2nd. However I knew I was gonna finish 3rd at that point because I was doing high 1'51s on dangerously worn tyres and brand new tyres (and lighter car) would mean 1'48-1'49s for Jonzster.

I really enjoyed this race, looking forward to LOVELY Monaco! ;)

R35 Thank you mate, and well done to you as well, you have really stepped up your game over the last few races 👍

My race report:

Qualifying: Didn't get off to the best of starts, went off once then caught someone on the next lap, but finally managed a decent enough time which saw me starting from the 2nd row.

Race: In the early stages me and Steg went toe to toe for a couple of laps then eventually got by and managed to catch up to Sic, Toffe and R35.
After a few laps it was me and Sicwhitt that managed to pull away from the other two, untill Sic dropped back. With a clear track in front of me I then managed to pull a gap of about 10secs.

Half way into the race I started to think about pitting, however my tyres were still good and I was doing roughly 1.50's, so it made sense to stay out as long as pos for 3 reasons...

1. to see if my tyres would go the full distance
2. see if the others pit first, then make a decision
3. it might rain :)

Lap 19 out of 25 and I had a bad lap, my tyres were quite worn so decided to pit. R35 and Toffe overtook whilst I was in the pits so it was time to berry the right foot into the axminster and try and catch em :)
The fresh rubber was doing the buisness and I was gaining about 3s-4s a lap, with the lads on badly worn tyres + coupled with slipstream I saw my way back into the lead to take my fifth win of the season

Just noticed I hold the record for most podiums in a row at 4 :) I might make it a 5th at Monaco ;)

Nice stat R35, you are definitely mr consistency as of late 👍

Here's another stat for you, there were 70+ overtakes in the last race :)

Daaang...Imagine with DRS and KERS....;) :P

I was going to post quite negatively in here about a few things but have decided not to.
Seeing as we only got two races left, i'm just going to say good luck drivers.

Any incidents mate?

Already have, but apparently it doesn't matter now so nevermind.
With just two races left, i'm more in a mind to finish clean as possible and relax instead of bringing up anything, so look for me to say not a word.

Monza race replay is up, enjoy :)

Part 1

Part 2 - mega 3 way battle for 2nd (14 odd minutes) between Sic, R35 and Toffe 👍

Part 3
