like Uncharted Drakes Fortune, big disappointment
:eek::odd:
+++1 :eek::eek::eek:

I guess every game has the few that don't like it.
I guess so, but personally, I think Uncharted is an absolutely brilliant game, and sets so many new next gen standards for that genre of game, and in some cases, game development in general!

It's pretty clear this is going to be a franchise series, so I hope to see them expand the horizons even more, especially with a wide open free roaming platform environment.... and lots of more puzzles! 👍

But even so Uncharted is among my favorite games right now. 👍

If anyone gets PAIN, please share your experience. $10 is still $10. :)
+1

I was only mildly interested from the first couple trailers, but that last couple have been very amusing! I especially cracked up over the Spank the Monkey mode... and the new add-on skins look fun as well. Had it been around $5, or I hadn't just bought a bunch of PSN games lately I would have snagged it up in a heart beat.

I'm still wondering why I bought the High Stakes Poker game. :D

As far as downloads go... if you are into that Asian MTV style show, HiTV HD, there is another two part episode available for download in the Korean PSN Store... this time the girls are racing Go-Karts.... again, pretty boring, and not my kind of thing... but like games, opinions will vary. :D

It looks liek it can be great or horrible, and I am not betting $10 on it.

Because casinos don't let you sit at a table by yourself wearing just your boxer shorts?

Now, the question is do I keep downloading these things in order to try and increase the perceived popularity of downloadable movies and TV shows, or save myself the time and trouble? I tried watching the first two episodes and had to quit a few minutes in.

I just fast forwarded at 30x speed just so I could at least have an idea what each one was about. :)

BTW: Both US and Euro updates are up and LOTS of new stuff! Obviously the new HD trailer for GTA:IV, but also a new multi-play demo for TimeShift as well as a demo for Kane and Lynch; loads of add-on game content; new PSN game, High Velocity Bowling and classic game, Wild Arms; bunch of new game trailers and Behind The Scenes videos; a couple movie trailers, and several new official XMB Themes:
  • Uncharted Theme
  • Ratchet & Clank Theme
  • Mesmerize Theme
  • Tori Emaki Theme
  • Heavenly Sword Theme
  • MotorStorm Theme (at 15 MB, its several time larger than most themes... wonder why? - also, for some odd reason it's not available in the UK store, but is available in many of the other European PSN stores as well as the Austrailian PSN store???)
  • Snakeball Theme
  • Lemmings Theme
  • Killzone 2 Theme
  • SingStar Theme

Begin the download rush! :D

No Gran Tursimo theme I notice. I guess we here at GTP are just special like that.

Anyone tried playing the Timeshift Multiplayer? I got into two different servers and the PS3 froze both times...

Kane and Lynch demo? Didn't see it. Europe only?

Funny story (well not so funny) about this game, a senior game reviewer at gamespot Jeff Gerstmann's that has been there for over 11 years suddenly got fired after he gave a video review for this game saying that it was bad in nearly every way...

Gamespot denied his departure was anything to do with him giving Kane & Lynch a bad review but is uncanny timing plus they wont say why they got rid of him... The video review was sneakily removed a re-edited (giving some rubbish excuse about sound quality!).

They did say Edios the publishers were very upset (displeased) about his review but did not in essence ask for him to be fired.

They (Edios) had signed a deal with Gamespot to do large full page adverts promoting the game to death weeks before this happened and then for it to get a rubbish review from the same site made Gamespot and Edios loose face so they (im my eyes) picked a fall guy.

Whatever people are saying whats true or not I believe that game journalism is becoming poorer and poorer, its all sneaky and bias... now you have scandals like this were you think a game got a bad review so the publishers censored it!

He was only being honest and I am going to try the demo to see if what he was saying was right but seriously sacking a guy because Edios didnt like the outcome... thats screwed up, if its a rubbish game face it!

BTW this is all my personal opinion on what happened, no one really knows yet what happened for legal reasons but I believe its a cover up for a game publisher pissed that they paid alot of money to advertise only to get slammed..... whats next? EA paying for all there games to get 10's!

Read some of the story here.. and see the un-edited video review...

Beat to death Gerstmann story
It's all speculation and taking either side in this is a disservice. Yes, the situation around this is suspicious, but at the same time Cnet (parent company) has a history of telling advertisers to screw off in order to preserve their integrity.

Also, where did this whole conspiracy thing start really gaining traction? 1up.com, Gamspot's biggest competitor who also led a protest in front of Cnet headquarters. But they claim they are just protecting journalistic integrity and it has nothing to do with them being a competitor.

It looks fishy on both sides.

Honestly, I rarely ever read Gamespot, unless I follow a link there and I take most of my gaming opinions from people on this board more than I do professional reviews.

Define irony:

Where did I say 'beat to death gerstmann story' in my previous post? :odd:

Its still doesn't change the fact that someone got fired! I think Jeff did quite a good job on shows like on the spot and his reviews are usually well balanced but I have always been unhappy with Gamespots 360 bias. A guy with 11 years of experience doesn't just disappear for no reason! I believe his K & L review was 100% the reason.

I visit Gamespot quite a lot for pictures and release dates and the occasional review but I will always see what people here feel about the game and take that as a review because dur, the people here know what they are talking about and they are the real consumers.

Also thankgod we are now in the age of downloadable demos so you can just find out what its like for yourself!

I summarized it.

Having had to fire some people before I can tell you right now that there are many, many reasons this can happen and look suspicious. Whenever I see something like this with no other proof than speculation I just shrug and move on. You will never get an honest answer because, despite every blog site acting like it is a cop out, they cannot say what the reasons were by law. They can't even tell his next potential employer the reasons, nor can his next potential employer even ask. And if you want to get really picky about it his immediate supervisors and HR person can't even tell other supervisors within their own company. For all you know he was visiting naughty Web sites on his work PC.

All that said, if years down the line, after Gerstmann's non-disclosure agreement ends, he decides to tell and the K&L review is the reason I won't be surprised and then I will scream about journalistic integrity. Until then all any of us can honestly say is that it looks fishy because of some coincidences.

I visit Gamespot quite a lot for pictures and release dates and the occasional review but I will always see what people here feel about the game and take that as a review because dur, the people here know what they are talking about and they are the real consumers.
I'm also guessing you missed blackout Monday then?

Are we playing the same demos? I think maybe two or three actually made me think the game seems great.

I sigh each and every time I see someone post a review of a game based on a demo!

With a few exceptions, nearly all demos are a very poor example of the full game, and it's not just PS3 demos, its all demos.

If I had judged F1:CE based on playing the demo I would NEVER have bought it... instead it remains one of my favorite games.

To me demos only give a general hint on what the game might be like, and if they come out well ahead of a game's actual release then that's even more the case.

If anything demos are just nice added features that don't cost us anything and we can have some fun playing them once in a while... nothing more than that... in my opinion.

In a moment of weakness I downloaded PAIN. It's fun getting combos bouncing off of stuff. You can grab onto passing object, effect the direction of you bouncing off of stuff, everything seem responsive to the rag doll physics. It's too early to say if it was a good choice or not to get it, but it is fun seeing your character flailing through the air. Oh yeah, there's also different posses you can do...in one of his posses, he sticks his butt in the air and farts.

so then it was worth $10? I don't see the indecision

I'd gladly pay $30, just to have a game with farting!

Well, not really. But I downloaded the trailer yesterday and it seems like a fun game. I liked the part where we had to spank the monkey, that was cool.

Have you spanked the monkey already, Pako?

To be honest I'm not impressed at all with the Kane and Lynch demo. It just didn't quite click with me - no purpose to what you were doing, and the controls are a bit fiddly. And people were complaining about the aiming in Uncharted - I found this to be bad. And some parts looked mainly like a PS2 game... especially when zoomed in with a rifle.

I almost always keep downloaded content on the PS3, but I just had to delete it. I really don't think the full game could be that much better.
