Well I played the demo yesterday too and I have to say I disagree with the general consensus here. I thought the handling was pretty good, and the special effects were nice. Both stages were pretty tough too so it's fairly challenging. The graphics are fairly average but they looked better than some games I have played recently.

Overall better than I expected. It looked terrible at E3 and not much better at Gamescom. Bear in mind I am using a Dualshock 3 not a wheel so I can't comment on the FFB but it handled fairly well on the pad.

Well Emu, I agree !

First remember It is a demo !!!! Work in progress !!!!

Yesterday I played the demo of WRC (thanks Arvore for the heads up). Now I have read a lot of bad comments on this game, but being a SSV8NC and Rally fan, may be I am a little biased but gave the demo a good hour of testing.

You can race 2 stages, and choose 2 cars. I chose the Focus. Hardest difficulty setting. SSV8 racers will immediately feel at home with menu's etc. Even the crowd is the same ! Now I am goin to be very honest. I liked It !

First off, finally a WRC game. Graphics OK, nothing spectacular, but not bad, kind of raw, but that suits a rally game. Sounds; convincing, again not spectacular but not bad. The FFB (G25). It is like SSV8NC, but a little stronger. There is a dead spot yes, but not much. After doing the same stage a few times, It felt great. The sense of speed is there, I can control my car the way I want through the corners, steer/counter steers works. I didn't really feel the the point you get in oversteer, I couldn't really tell when It would happen, just make sure It doesn't happen.

Now I read comments about tracks being too wide, Finland is rated easy, mainly because It is wide, but there are narrow sections too. The other stage, rated more difficult, certainly ain't wide. I will get this game, remember this is a demo, from a smaller company but they sure know how to give you that racing feel. It made me want to do the stages again and again, so that is good I guess.

It does not feel much better than the CmRae games I played on the PS1 and PS2, but Is is rally, OK graphics and sound, and put me in that trance like state, so bring on the full game !

Oh man I had no idea there was a WRC game coming! :ouch: And I used to play them all back then with PS2.

About the demo (PS3 with pad for me) yeah the graphics are really horrible for PS3 game. But IMO the physics model is greatly improved since the original series, some of the original games had digital stering inputs, in some the car would not spin around no matter what you did etc. At least with this one the car reacts to steering inputs in mostly logical way. I'd put it on par with CMR1 or 2 which is not so bad. Still I'm not sure if I'm going to buy this one, there is this one other game coming soon...

I personally preferred the Jordan stage in the demo. Even though it was rated harder than the Finland stage, I still seemed to crash less. I preferred the technical corners and lower speeds required to get around in a good time. The Finland stage annoyed me. There were a few times when the co-driver gave information too late, and I ended up crashing into some tress. The part where you are fenced in tightly kept catching me out too. Still fun though.

Me too, I kept going in nicely, doing everything nicely, get in here, get closte to the fence, I think
"Ah, oh well, Im just going to graze it" then..... I spin out. Why? The fence is not even all the way around.

Still a pretty fun game, but sorry Blackbeans & Milestone, at the stage I've played it at, NO WAY am I dishing out £40 for this game.

After having a go at the demo, this game is now off my want list. I was very excited when I heard about, loved the videos I have seen. After playing the demo with a wheel, the car seems to be floating with no real feel for what is going on. Guess I will have to just settle for the rallying in GT5 now.

Any new rally game has to be at par or better than dirt2 to be on most folks "to buy" list. My friend and I were going to import this, but not after the demo. The game would have been great 2-3 years ago.

So this game is def. more difficult than DiRT.

SUCK IT MATHEW WILSON

Did Mads switch back the a '07 Subaru? Last time I watched a WRC event he was in an '08, but this game as the old generation.

Previous Black Bean games have always been cheaper than the rest. May be because they are a smaller company, or less licenses ? Suits me fine :-)

Going out at half the price of a normal game. They really don't seem to be expecting much sales wise.

Probably because this isn't worth the price that games are normally marketed at. :yuck:

...also, WRC hasn't been as popular as it used to be this year.

Just grabbed the demo yesterday and I'm almost as hooked as when I played the F1CE demo ages ago.

Looks definately good.. quality visuals, nice enough feel and design. Properly done. Not exactly a GT5 or assassin's creed massive game but I big barrel of fun.

Are people thinking of getting this?

Just noticed something... upside and downside
UPSIDE... the best rally cars ever are in the game GROUP B!!!!
DOWNSIDE... the best rally cars ever are a PSN/XBOXlive paid DLC!!!!

Was looking at the the trailer of the Group B cars on the site and they didn't show or list the Audi Quattro. Anyone heard any reasons for this?

@UN_OC: With a pad this game is decently playable but definatly not with a wheel, hell no! There is NO feedback at all from surface to wheel. Guys, I dont know, this game is not even worth 20 bucks, just my opinion of course.

Edit: Remember how the developers sky-high praised their game? This is the result now, almost nobody likes the game, at least not to an extent, that he would buy it.

I'm driving @ the Ps3 with a G27 and actually like how the cars handle. I get nice feedback going through the stages, how the cars reacts to steering and countersteering etc. Graphics though are horrible and the sound isn't very good either. I guess I'd pay half of the price what it's going to cost.

?? I will buy It. And a few more reading this topic. Most of the people probably in about 6 months when It's cheaper, but still. I can't wait.

@tired man; Well done, I am nowhere near that time ! How many times did you do this stage ?

Is there anyone here who has gotten the DFP to work with the demo? I have tried PC AND PS3 versions -_- The PC version is supposed to be $20 less, so $40 should be worth it.

I did, as I already stated, it was horrible, no feedback whatsoever, maybe with a G27 it's better, like others stated.
